When my son was 18 months old and his molars were coming in, this is the only thing that kept him happy. All night, I played the movie and when it was over, he screamed until I was able to rewind it to the beginning and then he was happy, and I took a short nap - lol. Ah....good times.
If I didn't already know the calibur of the man's acting prowess, I'd suspect Turturro to be a medium. As Roland T Flakfizer, he straight up channeled the ghost of Groucho Marx almost flawlessly.
Or the one my brother recently reminded me of "Dear Lillian, soon I hope to take you on a Carribbean cruise, where we can hold hands on a soft summer's evening and watch that old Jamaican moon. Why that old Jamaican will be mooning us, I have no idea."
This was the craziest movie I ever saw. My only complaint was that this compilation didn't feature the line "let's step outside and settle this like men" while the two people were arguing outside of a building.

I’m 37. I remember seeing bits and pieces of this on cable when I was a kid the theme music was stuck in my head for days. Also I laughed so hard at the “seats are facing the stage” line
I remember watching this as a little kid, I rented it on VHS because I remember seeing the advertisements for it and I thought the cover art looked funny. I didn't even know who John Turturro was, but to me back then it seemed like a modern day three stooges.
Nicholas Julian it is based off the Marx brothers but there is absolutely without a doubt plenty of nods to the three stooges. My friends and my brother and I came across this gem in late 1992 on VHS we were already huge 3 stooges fans and we watched this constantly, memorizing all the lines and when we recited them no one knew what the hell we talking about or even recognized the film. I'm glad it became a cult classic because it is one of the funniest movies ever made.
Great film. Clever as hell. Nobody will be as funny as the Marx Brothers, but if you judge this film on its own and not unfairly compare it to others, it's a really funny film. Sorry, three's a company, four's an adult movie!
@@mightydagon adult movie is kinda vague tho. It can refer to a movie with a lot of swearing. It can refer to very violent movie or a gore fest. So sorry I didn’t pick up on it.
The amazing thing about this movie is it's obscurity. I don't know of anyone who has heard of it, let alone seen it. Perhaps the best comedy ever. Funny lines thoughout the WHOLE movie....not just just here and there.
dimmerofthroop Absolutely, my friends and I even enjoyed the fact that no one else was aware of this classic when we came across it on VHS in late 1992. Turturro is brilliant , he literally hits you with blow after blow of witty one liners. The script is incredible and smith, Nelson, and turturro are gold. One of the most underrated comedies or even films ever made.
such an underrated movie. directed by Dennis Dugan. Produced by the Zucker Bros. This was a silly classic in the likes of Airplane, The Naked Gun and mixed with the Three Stooges.
Holy shit I have been trying to figure out the name of this movie for years. I could only remember the ballet scene and that wasn't enough to go off of. I really want to buy this movie now.
Funniest movie ever!! I watch it at least 3 times a year. So many one liners, especially from Flakfizer. 'Lazlo, this is no time for family pictures!!'
I love this movie!!! Its so hilarious! They dont make comedies of this caliber anymore. If you havent seen this movie, rent it and watch the whole thing!
Missed this one: "It's a big house. Maybe they can't hear the bell." "Let's try this." Jaques(Bob Nelson) then proceeds to produce an air horn and promptly sounds it, scaring Rocco(Mel Smith) half to death.
A lot of Marx brothers inspired jokes in Brain donors. Some were great funny imitations such as "these are the worst seats in the house, they're directly in front of the stage", and numerous other wordplays between the characters in this film. Some other jokes were less funny imitations of the Marx's jokes such as John Turturro and gang in the office tearing up financial negotiation papers imitating the funny Marx bros contract tearing up scene "party of the first part should be known as the party of the first part". Nancy Marchand though does a great imitation of Margaret Dunmont's pompous roles in the Marx films
Good movie, got it on vhs. Sorry to burst your bubble. Tuturro(sp) is an amazing actor, an actor's actor, if you will. lol Cause regular movie goers probably don't know who the hell he is. I'll have to dig this movie out and watch it. Thanks for posting this!
Aw, you left out the bit of Jacques opening a briefcase and soon turning it into an entire desk with electronic stock market tracker and computer. Rocco: "It'll be years before we catch up to the Japanese." And their singing in the jail cell. "Maybe it's someone with a recording contract." Still, funny as hell movie.
I am honestly still to this day unaware whom Rocko says at 7:25. The fact that I don't know the name and the joke still lands is a testament to the brilliance of this movie, but I am actually curious. Anyone know which person he's referring to?
I believe he's referring to "Al Jolson", huge actor and comedian back in the 20s. Claimed he was the greatest entertainer in the world. Stuff he did would be a HUGE problem for most nowadays.
@@matthewamendola3403 Based on reading briefly about him now and his implicit representation in history for black face, I think you're correct. And I sincerely am grateful for you chiming in and letting me know. I love Brain Donors so much and I love comedy, and I'm always sad when a joke leaves me behind from obscure references. I'll read a bit more on him as well from a historical perspective since I have never heard the name before. Thanks again.
