So many of you reached out in comments / messages - explaining why you left and why you cannot come back. I hear you - i admit that it's been our failure over the years to reward hard work / talent / honesty .... now other nations profit from us. I just hope that with this video - more people realize the problem (solution is far way)

It's a shame for our country that a large number of people have left India and also a large number of students have done suicide. We are responsible for this because of us only large number of people have left India. I respect those Indians who have left India and make us feel proud but unfortunately its a big shame for our country and we should not celebrate this and I knew this when I was in class 6

Solution is not far away if the work starts from higher level. In place of manipulating and doing politics, people should start WORKING. It's not difficult and it's not far, It is just a matter of intentions.

I never wanted to leave India, though I’m a Chartered Accountant and most of my friends who studied with me left India almost 10 years ago. However, post 2019, my mind has been changed - after the birth of my child, I can’t imagine him growing up in the mess that we are in. Why should he also adjust and compromise his entire life? Unfortunately we are stuck in a cycle of hate, religious dogma and ethical degeneration that only seems to grow with every passing day. I want a better life for my child. Edit: 5 months after this post, I have moved with my family permanently to Europe.

I feel very bad about myself even thinking of leaving my motherland - but unfortunately the economic, social, political situation today has become untenable, and I can’t imagine how it will be when my son becomes an adult (he is just 3 now). If I don’t take this step now, I know he will suffer. So I must make the sacrifice for his betterment and future.

@@mohamedfaizan9844 Your decision is perfectly understandable and you must not feel guilty. See , this is not just about investing back in India. India benefits in many ways by the Indians settling abroad. They have acted as India's cultural ambasadors. Whatever standing India has in this world is owed to millions of those who worked hard and contributed to their adopted countries in big way. Paradoxically Modi actually benefitted and exploited this very goodwill generated by our diaspora. If mainland India were to degenerate it is our people elsewhere who may help us rejuvenate India. Don't doubt even for a second your wisdom to choose better life for your family. It is a win-win situation.

When i was a child i used to read in textbooks that India will be a Developed country by 2020. This used to give me so much hope. I never wanted to leave India. Was fed up by the congress due to their redtape and too much corruption. Voted Bjp in 2014 , although was never a Bjp supporter. But still i was hopeful. But suddenly by end of 2015 i realised Bjp is trying to rule us like china and trying to be a authoritarian state. I decided to move out early 2016, still was confused about my decision but Notebandi and Gst made my decision strong. I finally moved to Canada in 2019. This country gave me good life, better paying job and most importantly a society run by law. I always miss India, our people are very talented but system and politicians failed us. I am sorry India.

As a person from a middle-class family, I can totally relate to this. Most of my friends are planning to settle abroad irrespective of their career paths. With the advent of low-cost migration options like Germany, Norway, etc even the lower-middle-class people are trying their best to get out of the country. Settling abroad is much better than struggling for daily wages in India. Unless India does something to reverse this trend, the number of people leaving the country will only increase in the upcoming years.

@@ironman6461 Living Cost is expensive. Most Undergrad Institutes that offer Education at no cost have courses in German. For jobs language is a big barrier. Plus European Union students are given preference for jobs. Students from India can work 120 full days / 240 half days per year.. That money is never enough to cover Living Cost . Not sure what's the limit but tax applies on earnings in the range of 400/500 Euro per month . And Living expense on an average is double that amount. Canada, Germany etc run Education like a business. And International students are among their biggest source of Income. Govts facilitate this with various rules. Their aim is to have the students getting money from their home country into these countries. And not that students earn so much while studying overseas that they have no need for money from their home country.

Look at this problem from a politician's point of view: The smart people from my country are going to other countries and are realizing their potential. But, at the same time they are still connected to their families here. This means that they are sending back remittances (the highest in the world) back to my county. Not only are these remittances reducing my CAD, these guys are also sending back money that is invested in the real estate, stock market, etc in my country. So, I still win. Another advantage is that I can use these smart people as an example of "India's Greatness" as an election pitch. Now, if these people stayed in my country, I would have to provide a bunch of infrastructure improvements for their growth or else these guys will vote me out. That's a lot of work. Its better for me to let these guys leave the country and send back money while I keep on stealing from the country by fooling the gullible people here. I have no incentive to stop the brain drain. This is nothing new. States such as UP, Bihar, Orissa have been doing this within the country for decades.

@divya11114 2 года назад
Yup...India is a not business friendly. Unless you have any political connection or know someone in the office, getting a license for anything is tough and a tedious process. In fact, it's made that way by the government itself to help and protect the interest of the existing businesses in that particular field from newer competitions. If you want to setup any new venture, first you'll have to struggle finding relevant info about all the licenses you'll need. Someone will say you'll need this license and somebody will say you don't need this license. Unnecessarily wasting your time and money/capital. Then there's the bureaucracy and corruption part. No way an average citizen can open a business easily. Then there's GST. You'll spend most of your time solving compliances than running the business itself. It's a clusterfuck.

Hi Akash, I worked for two years as a Postdoctoral Researcher (after PhD) in China at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. I want to mention, I got all emails from the Chinese academy of sciences. I found the most important thing every month, I got some emails for funds for creative ideas (project). It is very easy to get research funds if you have any creative ideas. The main idea of the Chinese government is if any technology exists in the world it should be in China whatever money they required for research. Now I am working in Italy with the University of Bari and INFN Bari (Like DAE in India, INFN is very reputed, this year INFN scientist got noble prize in Physics). The working environment is different than India what I noticed in the two countries. My impression is that people don't work in collaboration because of ego issues so the output is not efficient.

Foreign government knows how to manage. They reject mediocre people and make it very difficult for them to get long term visas. People who are settling abroad are mostly upper middle class rich people who can afford the expensive education of foreign institutes or talented enough to secure a scholarship. Another fact, there are a lot of Chinese immigrants as well who go to west for work and study. But the difference between Chinese and Indians is that the percentage of Chinese immigrants returning back to their country with knowledge and experience they gained (or stole) while working abroad, is much greater than Indians. Indians mostly settle abroad permanently.

Did you do you 12th and Bachelors from Punjab, Delhi region? Just asking, as it depends on the region as well. I did my bachelors in Punjab, and most of my batchmates there always talked about moving to foreign countries Canada, USA, Australia, etc. In fact, around 60% of my friends I'm in contact with from my college are now already in USA, Canada, Australia, etc. Then I did my masters degree from Kolkata, and there, there weren't that many people who were eager to go abroad. I know only 6 people from my university in kolkata, who have settled in abroad. Rest of my friends are still in India, in Bangalore or Pune (although most of them have visited foreign countries on an on-site projects , but came back to India).

People who can afford education in a foreign country can go. But sadly, for most even if they want to go they can't afford it. So they have to deal with this system the best they can. I myself had a chance once to go abroad for my higher studies, but sadly my father couldn't afford it. The banks would also not give loans (you know how difficult it is to get a loan from bank for an average person, while not so difficult to get thousands of crores for the famous and wealthy so that they can scam the banks and run to foreign countries).

I want them to grow up in the laps of their grandparents like we did and not in an isolated foreign land. But the current regime, the degradation in society, culture and every aspect is really scary.
