Thank you Callie for such a beautiful and creative production ♥ This is my first brain log as I came to listen to Ellen's Song having heard of it from Collette in one of the Shaytards' vlogs. You are extremely eloquent and, as was expressed by another viewer, beautifully poetic. I appreciate your depth of thought and how much you're willing to share with us. Your Mom is beautiful and it was lovely to see so much of her features in you and especially in Collette. Bless you and your family... I pray you continue to touch and positively impact others thru your songs and videos.

You are blessed with not only being able to arrange notes to form a pleasing sounding tune and write lyrics that are captivating in a song well arranged to be something worthy of listening and a nice singing voice but you are also a good writter in general and your Brain logs are minor works of art in their own right.

Dangit with the feels, Callie. I love the Brain Logs, thank you for sharing. I don't have a very good relationship with most of my family, we do the best we can but there's just too much broken to be pieced back together. It warms my heart to think that I can reverse that feeling of not belonging when I have my babies and can make sure they know how much they are loved every second of every day.

Beautiful, Callie. You moved me to tears. I, too have the impenetrable bond with my siblings. We lost our father at 46 years and my mother still had six out of seven of us at home. We had our rough spots but I understand the bond you speak of. We're all grown with children and even some with grandchildren now and that bond is stronger than ever. It is a beautiful gift, isn't it? Thank you for sharing. I feel like I know your family through Colette and her family and buying beautiful jewelry from Sadie. :)

Oh Callie...this was so beautiful ! Your words are so well put. Not surprising considering your a beautiful song writer too ! This really put into perspective how life is too short and how we shouldn't take the people in our lives for granted. Your mother was a beautiful lady and I'm sure she'd be so proud of all you and your siblings have accomplished.

I loved this brain log. Thank you for being so open with us. I must admit, I cried...family (to me) is a complicated thing and sometimes I try so hard to help their relationships with each other. But maybe I just need to concentrate on mine with them. If that makes any sense!

Beautifully and eloquently put as always. Loss is a powerful magnifier for the things that really matter. I feel like I really understand you. I often get sucked under by these overwhelming periods of over thinking and can forget to just be in the here and now. How refreshing that you're finally feeling free to be you. I'm so happy for you.

I just discovered your brain log videos, not knowing your relation to the Shaytards and I must say this is right up my alley. I love these Callie! I'm inspired, intrigued and reassured that it is possible to create content that is true to yourself while conveying emotion, as well as allowing others to comment. Thank You for exposing us to this.

Family is such a big important part of my life both sides are such a blessing to me, I was never prepared to have conflict with my dad's side of the family for so many years growing up I never thought family would have conflicts with some dark pasts that still haunt them to this day. My dad 's momma passed away when I was just 15 the first death I actually had to deal with to understand how greif worked, to understand that I would loose my grandmother so soon and so fast to Cancer when she was only 59 almost heading into sixty years of age. I never also was prepared at seventeen to loose my main man my dad at the time when things in my family crumbled to peices to see my family, my world crumble breaking hearts. When I lost my dad I realized I knew family was more important than what I thought they were when they dropped everything to comfort me, family teaches me a lot more values and respect to love somebody more than my own self, now that I'm almost 21 the time with them I know that shouldn't be taken for granted.

Hi Callie, I just stumbled on your brain logs. I knew Colette was you sister from some other videos. So I knew that you and her and your other sister lost her. I'm so sorry. What I wanted to say was, I am 22 years old and I lost my mother at 12. Listening to you describe childhood, I could completely relate. Thank you for sharing something so uniquely full of compassion.

Callie I enjoy these brain logs so much. They are very entertaining and at the same time very calming. Its Also very relatable, although I am no longer a teenager I understand the need to be close to my family yet wanting to be far away. I do love my family, I just feel like me wanting distance is mainly because I feel I can't relate to who they are.

Callie, I love the way you put everything. I know how you feel in a lot of ways. I was sent to live with my aunt and uncle when I was 3 years old. I have no actual relationship with my parents. And while that may be the case, I have the most wonderful parents in the world that I could ever ask for! If I can spend my life giving as much love as I have received from them, then I don't think I'm doing so badly.

yeah in 16 days i'm 45 and i've pretty much given up on the idea of immediate family myself , i have always looked up to my dad the most, but untill recent times we've both just kind of been there. when i hit my 30's he became more of a presence as i started having children of my own. my mother and my sister have kind of always been their own team and the guys just never bother with them . Things have been said and irreparable harm caused and i no longer aknowlege my sister in any way, family or not there are just certain things you don't do or say, lies you don't tell, lines you don't cross and she's done them all trying to make herself look more important, I've finally made peace in my now down hill years with my mother but there's still that "you were once on the other team so i'm not 100% with you still" train of thought happening too. i am beginning though to see the end for my father. He's been diagnosed with dementia, he's been full on diabetic for years and won't stick to any diets (we're all foodie kind of people) but honestly i think i'd rather something just happen quicker to take him from us. i know it's a process but watching him decline and suffer slowly, quietly and not even complain about most of it i believe is much harder than if it all just happened at once and was over with. Well you know they say God only lets you have as much as he thinks you can handle. well I Guess that makes me a WARRIOR at this point. :o)

I wasn't going to comment until I saw the handlebar of the seesaw. I busted out my two front baby teeth on a seesaw just like that when my older Sister (who was pushing with her hands, not her bottom), suddenly dropped me. Boy, was my Mom ever happy that day! It's OK though, 39 years later I still love my Sister.

The extra footage! Squeeee! Hmm thoughts about my family. I'm really fortunate to have such a loving family as I do. I don't have any notable struggles to share as anything that comes our way, we were able to work our way through. I still suffer from what I call Youngest Child Syndrome as I feel my folks are a bit too smothering, but I know they always have the best intentions (thought not the best execution). I loved hearing about what your thoughts on your family were by the way :)

This was a really lovely video! My family isn't as close as some out there, and we kind of just tolerate each other when there is big get togethers. But it's getting better little by little I think. It may not be as much as a would like but something is better than nothing. I know that I can not choose my family that I was born in but I can choose how my own family one day can be with showing affection and such toward one another. Thank you for sharing! And I loved that ending! (XD)

Wow, thank you for this brainlog. I always wondered these things you told in the video because you seem to be a little bit different than your siblings or like you chose another way to live than they did. My life is similar. My parents are from turkey and they grew up in a little village there and they have basically no education at all, because during their time, you only went to school for mabye 5 grades. So, my dad came to Germany to work, and we live in Germany , I was born here ... and I kind of adapted the "german way of life" while my parents and sibilings live a more "turkish way of life" ... and it is not easy, because my parents cannot understand me and to protect them and me, and to still have a relationship with them, I dont tell them much about my life. I go to university since almost 5 years and it was the only way to move aways from my parents and start my own life, but it was lonley as well since I had to figure out myself how I want to life and I always knew that my parents would not proof my way of living , so I dont tell them ... because I love them and dont want to hurt them. But otherwise, I would never be happy ...
@CallieCrofts
@CallieCrofts 10 лет назад
Yes, it is a really difficult balance. I have recently changed my belief system and way of life. It doesn't fit the predominant way of life in my family. It is hard to see a barrier go up that wasn't there before. Even though they are totally loving and accepting it isn't as easy to fully relate to all of them anymore in the deep way that I always have. But you are right about happiness. It is possible to love your family and have a relationship with them while doing what you need to do for yourself and your happiness.
