This is free right now as part of the Soundwide merger and I feel like I got the deal of the century. It sounded amazing on vocals and I can't wait to use it on instruments.
it truly is. Let's not forget how important that is when working hours at a time. SSL E Channel looks great, most versions are an easy black under colors rendition of the board, but fatigues the eyes when put into plugin format. This isn't fatiguing at all, and I really haven't realized that until you brought it up BigBassClef thanks!.
By far, my absolute favorite channel strip. Been using it for more than a year on everything I mix. The tight low end and the openess of the high end just makes everything sing. Awesome job!
Sorry, prob not a place for a rant, but, it's funny, I'm under the impression that PA is a small company, as compared to Waves. Yet, this big behemoth of a company (Waves) can afford to fill many customer service spots, when things with this virus gets to normal (written in the middle of C19). Yet, judging from their customer service before the virus, you would think it was during the virus - meaning no customer service. nada. none. they should take a good long look at themselves because they've become the company everyone loves to hate, because of their business model, and their sale (lack of) remedies. (You say you bought it for $159.95 yesterday and it's on sale for $29.95 today... uh huh. So haven't you heard of the expression, "Buyer Beware, have ya?" You should have known that EVERYTHING we sell becomes $29 EVENTUALLY - what do you expect us to do about, what is clearly, YOUR problem? PA, PB and other 'newer' companies are nippin' on your heals, Waves. Or are you pulling a GOOGLE, trying to convince us that WE ARE the product of your company and we should understand that outright. PA is easy to deal with. They too had a $29 sale and you know what, I spent hundreds of dollars, at $29 a pop, I spent hundreds WAVES. I purposely didn't spend it with you! I had an issue with a PB product not doing what it said it does, in writing. Because of the dongle thing, it wasn't an easy remedy, getting the number transferred all over the place, but they kept me in the loop as to where things stood, kept me apprised all along, apologizing, and eventually (this is pre C19) took care of it 100%. Though it took 3 weeks, the way it was handled showed they cared, Meanwhile, I asked Waves a simple question, one I'm sure they didn't like, and they haven't gotten back to me in a month. A FRIGGEN MONTH. Don't even get me started on their upgrade practices. For me it's FabFilter, Soundtoys, PA or PB. I can't afford to stray. I can't afford not getting answers when I've a customer's album warm in Logic 10 or WaveLab 10. Speaking of, I've gone well past my ear break and will need to refund my client. Don't want them to think I'm a Waves now, do we!
Tested it a year ago. It was on sale.i bought it. Working with it every day since. On occasions I turn the compresser off or ad just a little 3to1 and threshold just to tiggle the led.Perfect.
Plugin Alliance and Brainworx opened a Pandora’s Box, specially with he TMT Tech. Now we’re going to be asking for all types of consoles. I for one, I’ll be waiting for the Trident, API and Classic Neve Consoles. Hope PA and Brainworx are ready for the demand!
Bravo! As a Focusrite "lover" and Focusrite gear owner I can just say - BRAVO!!! Definitely testing it and probably buying! PA is on the reoad again pushing out fantastic products!
I have a place for each, though the Focusrite is new to me. As a full time Mixer, going strong with what will be, in the 'full time mixer category' for almost 40 years soon, yeah, you gotta rest your ears if you want them to last - rest your ears (which is what I'm doing right now) but any other things that save time save money. There's money lost in delays. These aren't the days of labels giving us enough budget to support: "Hey Dudes, I have these three lines of what may be a part to a song I woke up with it in me head! I dreamt dudes it's karma!! Let's make it a song! Anyone else prepared. No? Anyone else got anything, No? okay, well, .....let's rock n ROLL! (as he falls asleep on the couch)" Those days are gone, even for the Stones, those days are gone and they might have started working that way." Lets not use I use it as an alternative to SSL E strip a
I've got all the SSL's, the Abbey Roads console plugins. This one to me is the most musical sounding of all of them. The SSL's are nice for sure. The Red Consoles are great too. All good stuff. But this one just sings.
I got this free the other day without knowing much about its history and ran a preset. Sounds great. It's a different workflow coming from Reason SSL 9000 emulation and using Ableton Live with a limited amount of UAD plugins. Quite the swiss army knife of a channel strip.
Thanks for the awesome feedback! If you haven't done so already and you're interested in diving deeper into the history of the console, please also check out this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iPWxqCPKl3c.html
Would love to hear a mix that compares the sound of Console N, the SSL consoles and this one - to see how different they sound using the same settings.
@@PluginAllianceTV Yes, I plan to. I already own Console N and the SSL consoles. It would be nice to see a video that compares the different consoles so that they can be used as musical tools in a mix based on their unique characteristics. For instance, maybe the Console N has vintage warmth, where SSL E has a stronger mid-range, SSL G more bite and clarity. I imagine myself using the various channel strips in one mix to achieve a custom sound. But, sometimes the differences between them are very subtle. I would be nice to have a full knowledge of what each tool in the toolbox is capable of.
@@joechapman8208 Too true. So often I'll watch someone A/Bing changes that are almost imperceptible, even with great monitors in a treated room or with pro headphones. Maybe the pro audio world should move over to Vimeo.
This is good to run everything through if you want more presence in the midst & highs to sound crystal clear, while maintaining the warmth of the bottom end. Sometimes I'll run it through the SSL 4000E or J and then right into this. Depends on the song
this this this plugin its a real game changer right here i tried it today man i wonder who made this monster i guess he was thinking about me because i love it so much this the best
Sounds great! You listened to customers for the metering! Thanks! Please consider doing exactly the same meter update to SSL 4000G consoles you made! It does not look like a big deal to implement this feature and it would make the bx_console 4000 really great!
@@Vossflying You are right!! I don't know for how long the 1.2 version of bx_console SSL has been released but it features the same metering reference option! I figured it out a few hours after my comment/wishes :)
I feel so stupid. Not sure how to properly open in Ableton. Do i drop it on the Master? & how exactly are the channels used? Sincerely apologize, very new to this but committed to learning.
You could have given the differences to other channel strips a little bit more focus, right? (Sorry, for the pun). But honestly. I already have quite a colletion of channel strip plugins by multiple companies covering multiple brands. Why this one? Keep up the great work!
question... is the total harmonic distortion any different for the various console emulations? obviously the eq and compressors are, just wondering whats actually happening at the THD stage...
Great plug-in. Love the way it sounds and the user interface makes using on long mix days much easier. One question: I can't seem to figure out how to save presets INTERNAL TO THE PLUG-IN (so that I can open that preset in another DAW). ??? Why would this be excluded? Such a simple feature ---> less than a week of engineering at worst. Save an XML file. done.
Looks like this preset thing haven't been resolved. Thanks to your comment I realized that it does lack this incredibly important feature. Especially strange since there is enough space for it in the top section. Perhaps they wanted to keep it 100 % realistic - no presets in analog console, which I would understand.
Thanks for your purchase and feedback! We're working on more educational content and appreciate your input. Sidechaining is mostly defined by how your DAW handles it, but it's generally possible to sidechain the Brainworx bx_console Focusrite SC. The console is good except for pumping effect in the dynamic section - no matter what Attack / Release setting is. J9000 is much better in this regard IMHO
can we get a Sony OXF R3 emulation 🙏might not be possible because of sony.but just wish...sonnox plugins require iloks and i dont like dongles on my computer
I’m a little confused with the overview of this plug-in. In which order does the different instances of the Channel strip go. Is it from right to left or from left to right?? Is the compressor/gate/de-esser before EQ and input gain or???
I'm probably just an idiot but when doing the same with 1000 hz test tone on the BX SSL 4000 plug the VU meter doesn't read out to 0 as the dBu meter does. How come? (Couldn't find a video about the SSL 4000 so terribly sorry I post this here-but kind of relevant anyway...)
Would the Focusrite plugin work well on the Master Buss as well? Or is that to much to ask of it? I am interested in it, but I really want something that could handle a master buss as well.
Hi, I have an SSL channelstrip and this one, it just sounds nicer, it gives the mix more air, the instruments have more space. I use old samplers, the SSL is too much for me, works better with the Focusrite. My question is, if I now send my recorded signal through the SC and want to hear the processed signal with the same loudness, do you think that I should lower the signal on the SC fader or with a utility tool in Ableton? I hope you can follow me.
This depends on the desired result. The fader on the channel strip is part of the emulation and will therefore respond like the hardware, while the channel fader in your host should be linear and neutral.

@@PluginAllianceTV I actually have this plug in bx console... just haven't used it.. ...I'm actually a beginner in mixing my vocals... I just figure the way you explained it.. it has de sser , compressor and eq, and gate so why don't I just use this instead of individual stock plug ins .. I use ableton 11 live...would it be wise to do so ? ... it's like it's plug in vocal chain if I use it like that right Also thank you replying.. appreciate it
There is generally no right or wrong way to use a plugin. You can simulate an analogue recording environment by adding an instance of your bx_console to every track in your project and then using TMT to simulate different channels. Or, you can add it to just one track you want to put focus on, drive it as hard as you want, or leave it neutral for just some colouring. If you like what you're hearing, you're doing it right!
@@presidentstudio The zoom control is in the top tool bar on the left side. The standard setting of 100% should be showing. If you can't see it, please use the Installation Manager or a fresh installer from the product page to make sure your plugin is up to date. The bx_console Focusrite SC automatically detects if it is used on a monaural or stereo track. If that doesn't work in your setup, please reach out to our customer support: www.plugin-alliance.com/en/tech-support.html
Rodney D I own every UAD plugin and this plugin can compete no problem with any of the strips. In fact, many times I reach for PA consoles more than I would UA
each new plugin make crazy to all fan-boyz, until another "new" plugin come, and they forget the "old" new plugins, like Channel N... so? The new era of music "producers" are a plastic garbage with tons of "new" plugins with no creativity simulating the sound of the "vintage gear" in a pool full of snake oil of digital "emulations" with kids that say "oh wow sound real like a "focuzrite" while they never heard the real one...
“So you can get the best for your money” sounds like this plugin is going to be really expensive and will frustrate users and regret a majority of buyers. I hope I’m wrong
