Braking Bad. But hopefully better now.

Re-assembling the brakes on my round axle 165. Once more I lost a bit of footage through general incompetence, but it wasn't that important. Well none of it is important really in the grand scheme. In a thousand years nobody will know it was ever even here. But anyway, my 165 is getting closer to doing some work, and that's all that matters.
Watch it or don't. It's up to you.

I have just spotted a mistake. Something that I have done that's really stupid! If you spot it too, write a comment starting with the words Not Bright! And if you are correct and you are a subscriber, you will win be put into a draw for a prize of some sort in the near future.

Only thing I noticed, ya cleaned the new brake disc, even telling us it needs to be clean, then ya handled the same disc - leaving greasy fingermarks on it. I also noticed blue small sections of cleaning towel in the bell/trumpet housing which I trust was removed as these could gum up a pump. I also noticed there was no gasket (or goo) on the assembly of the "trumpet" housing to the diff housing. All the same I like the vids. "We" had a 135 and MF35 then IH, I'm from DB HQ ;)

I bought some cheap Kincrome spanners many years ago, the 15/16" combination has been the most used, mostly with a impact gun on the other side after 30 + years I broke the open end, I cut it off now its easier to put a pipe on it.

Myself grew up around massey tractors we started with 35x I think it was in 1962 then in 76 I bought my own 135 it was a beast but ive work for diferent companies that used only massey tractors as a mechanic the only part on a massey tractor i have never repair is the differential they are tough and economical tractors very good on fuel while the fords and john deere swallow diesel the msaaey get the same amount of work done by sipping a little at atime

I bought some new Craftsman 45 years ago since then rummage sale/estate sale/auction sale brand. No warranty but so inexpensive not necessary. As far as losing them, all brands are equal. As far as tractor, truck or autos, I believe all have good and bad models but I was raised on IH , Chevrolet and Buick and feel the same about Ford as you! Thanks for the videos.

Not bright, missed the o ring on the epicyclic hub joint? . Can see an o ring still in a plastic bag. Elora tools were my choice as well, but think later they lost some of the quality feel.

Hazet Elora stahwille gedore I have heyco and teng also nothing wrong with teng for the money can’t fault it . There’s just Something quality about the German tools too much hype about snap on I jumped on that train as an apprentice they were good don’t get me wrong but alot off tools grew legs. Your right with tools the poor man always pays twice . But for mobile work you have try and get a balance off price /quality because stuff does get lost and grows legs

Sir will be my question?! Would it be a multi power e wet brake?! The 75 model (168) also has small drain holes in the bottom of the axles,! should be closed i thank you, thank you for your educational information, Stay healthy ~~Greetings from Anatolia👍
@ClarenceFudWeasel
@ClarenceFudWeasel 2 года назад
You can tell if it is wet or dry brakes by looking for a row of notches in the brake covers on either side facing the back of the tractor. If there are no notches, it is dry brakes. The number of notches indicates the number of disks. However there were some multi disk dry brakes that had notches too. If the drain hole is there and open it is probably dry brakes.

Hi , I have my 165 diff pedal seized in the single wheel drive position . What do you think this could be , it's like this for at least 20 years . Do you know would it be much work to free. Would I need to open the axle as you did? I'm not a mechanic. Thanks
@ClarenceFudWeasel
@ClarenceFudWeasel 2 года назад
Unfortunately, it's almost certainly the shaft stuck in the trumpet housing. It does require taking the trumpet off, which is not a difficult job, but could be daunting if you aren't used to that sort of work. If I had all the parts to hand and everything goes according to plan, I would allow about a day for it.
