Bram van Velde is famous for his abstract and lively paintings, representing expressive forms inspired by French lyrical abstraction. Van Velde was born in Holland and grew up in a family affected by poverty, which would affect him for the rest of his life. His family moved several times, finally settling in The Hague, where van Velde apprenticed for a painting and interior design company and reproduced the works of the Old Masters.

THANKS for creating and posting this. Van Velde's work is strongly influenced by the masters of Modern Art, Picasso and especially Matisse. Yet, it is refreshing, boldly expressive, uniquely colorful and mindful of human form.

Truly some of the most "unremarkable" works I've seen ! Was he even considered a professional ?
