A few tips for anyone living abroad wanting to buy a house in Uganda!!. 1. Make sure the house has pre-installed BUG SCREENS in the windows and doors. Ugandans might welcome you, but so will the MOSQUITOES. 2. The fencing of the house MUST include either bibbed wire or electrical wires..Helps keep out rubbers. 3. You need an alternative to power this can be solor power, geothermal..whatever!. The power outages in Uganda are insane! And sometimes Umeme can take 3 to 7 days to fix whatever the problem is. 4. You also need a water well/ borehole...these are under ground wells that provide water alternatives to tap water provided by water companies in Uganda. Yes, tap water can short out too and again can take 3 to 7 days to have water again. 5. Before buying the house first look for the following electrical outlets...air conditioning, washer/dryer mashine, microwave, and smoke hood for the stove/cooker ventilation. If any of that is missing then perhaps you should consider building your own house. Honestly you will either spend about the same or less!.
Stop with these ignorant comments. Be observant and think twice or ask yourself why there's no window. And if there's no window, is there enough light? and where is the light coming from? Don't forget that these houses are designed by professionals who know their job better than you.
@ConnectWithUganda Ignorant comments? Sorry, Einstein. How dare you refer to me as ignorant? Do you know me? How many houses have you designed and built? Have you built anything outside of Uganda? I have seen some beautiful designs in Uganda and around the world, but I have also seen some really badly designed houses. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. That should not lead to insults being passed. I have designed and built multiple houses in multiple countries in the Western world. I am neither ignorant nor naive when it comes to home designs and construction. I was recently in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya looking at the prospects of building apartment complexes for investment. You don't know me so don't be so quick to judge and insult people.
