Awesome show, totally awesome. I had not seen any of Rosa Salazar's work before. She takes the role of Lisa Nova, devours it and presents us with a piece of magic. She is incredible. The physicality of the role was something to behold. When Lou throws her on the hood of the car and slaps her around, that was real. Just as was the scene in the holding-cell, when she gets thrown against the wall. Now that was going above and beyond the call of duty. Catherine Keener. WOW! She was having an absolute ball playing Boro. That enthusiasm and fondness for the character has bled through the lens and infused itself into the film. So many superlatives come to mind in describing her performance. I find it hard to choose the correct one.
Absolutely absolutely! I haven’t been able to express it quite that way, but it’s animal and while binging it in an afternoon by myself (my friend said “oh YOU haven’t seen it yet” about a week after it came out and got distracted after the second episode and left me lol) I was NEVER disengaged from the story. It is BEAUTIFUL.
I REALLY hope that if a season 2 is right, it can happen. I would eat the characters, set, cinematography and score up for breakfast lunch or dinner… maybe even a brand new cherry flavor for dessert.
I thought this show was 1 more cliche let down and had 2 false starts til I finally just watched it. I was so amazed something this good come out at this time.
How do you even trailer this series without giving it away, warning the unready with triggers and promote to the huge audience of oddballs waiting for it??? If it wasn’t for a friend I wouldn’t have binged it alone in an afternoon.
I just FINALLY watched this series last week during my bout with da RONA, and I FREAKING LOVED IT OMG!!!! hahahaaaaaa too damn much. I followed it up with the series YELLOW JACKETS which kept me energized with female magical darkness.
If you want weirdest I'd say Twin Peaks: The Return especially takes the cake for me. Although you absolutely HAVE TO watch the First 2 seasons and the prequel film Fire Walk With Me. Brand New Cherry Flavor has some tonal similarities, but its more horror than surreal/weird.
