Thank you for these beginner videos. I am brand new to the hobby and find Nate’s explanations very helpful. I also find Abby’s flying very relatable. Glad I am not the only one who has panicked on a take off and stalled. Just wonderful content and values.
Thanks for keeping the beginner in mind. Many channels tend forget many new pilots to the sport. Also you get former rc people that maybe dropped out of the hobby and now found their way back. Blessings to you family.
Hi RcSaylors, this is in my opinion a video of extraordinary importance, because you're showing absolute beginners, how to program your radio, to make this model fly. Of course, there is the manual, but watching you, how you are doing it, makes it for a zero-beginner so much easier, to get started. In my case, I wasn't sure, if I have to do any programming, so that the 3 modes (safe, beginner, pro) would become active, or if the radio recognizes this type of airplane and therefore "knows" by itself, that these 3 modes are built in. As understand from your tutorial, you don't even have to program, that the UMX Radian is a 3-channel airplane. You didn't "tell" the radio, that there is rudder only and no ailerons and you also didn't switch the rudder from the left stick to the right one. Watching your tutorial cleared out all of my questions and therefore I would kindly ask you to do the same type of tutorial for any UMX airplane, you're going to show on your channel. Another model, that causes quite a few questions to the newbie is the UMX Ultrix, because of the fact, that it has two motors, but no rudder. Of course there are the manuals of the radio and of the model, but as a beginner you're very often mixed up with all kind of information and at first, you need to get an overview, before all the information becomes clear for you. Therefore I'd like to ask you one more time, to make programming videos for UMX planes. Building a model is easy to understand, unboxing videos are nice to watch, but tutorials are really, really helpful and will bring many more people into this wonderful hobby. With regards, Andreas
I’m glad you found this video helpful! I will definitely see what I can do regarding more airplane tutorials like this, especially when they are a bit more unique! If these videos come in handy, all we ask to support us is “like” the video and if you ever order anything online, please do so using our links. It doesn’t cost you a single extra penny but does help us out a lot! Happy Flying! 👍😁😎⚓️
Hi RC Sailors, I'm very happy, that you had time to answer my comment. I'm very much interested in seeing tutorials about UMX planes, because then, a beginner pilot can directly go flying, after watching your tutorial. If you could insert the tutorial about how to to bind and program an UMX plane into your videos, it would be simply great and very, very helpful. And since you like to show the entire flight time of a new model I think, that you could show parts of your flight in the background and the tutorial in a window, inside of the flight video. Because I have to commit, that it's very nice to know, for how long a new plane can stay in the air, but waiting for the battery to become empty isn't the most entertaining part of your video. I'd like repeat for one last time, how much I'm interested in getting to know, how to program the UMX Ultrix, because it's, compared to other planes, a completely different one. About the link below I'd like to know if I can use it for an order in Europe to support you and your channel? Hitting the Like button is a must in your videos and I have of course subscribed to your channel. :-) With regards, Andreas
Thanks, per your recommendation and that of others, this was my 2nd trainer RC aircraft. Initially I purchased a $99.00 Rage warbirds R/C A/C to teach myself to fly. The $99..00 IMO was a minimal risk investment. Based on my exp. with both & all that said, the Radian Is probably a better option since it does fly with much less stress and reactive input from a novice because it does fly much slower. I was fortunate enough to be successful teaching myself with the Rage $99.00 warbirds, however I don’t think you will go wrong with the Radian UMX. I have moved up to the AeroScout.
Really happy this plane came out, I wanted this one for a long time and then they discontinued it months after I got my first plane. Glad you guys were the first to show this version off because I have been looking everyday since they announced it was in stock for a video that showcases this. Glad the price only went up 10 bucks!
I'm a boat guy. Love my tugs and Chris Crafts, but have crashed planes as many times as I've flown them. I've seen similar gliders to the Radian at E-Fest, and they were fascinating, along with the 3D planes. Slow and deliberate is all I can handle. This little Radian may just be what I'm looking for. Going to use a seaplane as essentially just a boat at the duck pond. More my speed. Maybe a FliteTest Widgeon. I won't crash it if I use it as a boat, and it will look great. Your content is the best!!!
That's a awesome price For a well designed plane.Probably one of the best deals at the moment.Honestly the RC hobby technology has come a long way's in such a short time.Thank you for sharing. And thank you for knowing God is great and we all are blessed.Peace to all
I appreciate this video Nate & Abby. I just received a new NX8 Transmitter for Christmas. So seeing you walk through the binding process is of great help. Also enjoy the information on the UMX Radian. I’m looking for a good small plane for indoor winter club flying. Thank you both for your time and help. God bless.
Thanks guys. Nate. I NEED safe technology! Looking forward to seeing the flying video. Why? Well, this is a three channel aircraft as in no ailerons. I want to see how it performs with just rudder and elevator. Waiting and watching for Abby to fly it. Take care guys!!!
I love seeing these how to bring things. I recommend your videos for customers all the time. I recently acquired a nx8 for learning and now I'm looking at a plane, I've been recommended the umx timber for the first plane.
as someone who flys large balsa models this is a awesome little thing especially with fpv and i would totally recommend this to a beginner. one thing to note though, fly it in minimal wind as anything over 10mph and it’ll be very hard to ground with safe select on. I knew a guy who had a smaller sailplane (basically the size of the radian), he got it into a thermal and it got up to 3,000ft before he lost telemetry connection and 12,000ft before he lost gps connection, unluckily he never retrieved the glider. be careful flying in harsher winds, thermals, coastal’s, and doing any kind of slope soaring and thermal hunting for any prolonged period of time.
I just saw this at my local hobby shop yesterday, they were just opening it for the first time, I think it will be my first plane. Thanks for sharing the info about it. Take care.
A short flight would have been nice, I have never based my purchases on how easy a plane is to bind but don't get me wrong this video was extremely valuable for a perspective or beginner R/C pilot and I thank you for making it. Nice work to both of you!
I have the UMX Radian and it's a great beginners plane. I got one when I got back into the hobby after 12 years of not flying and I was not good to begin with. It's a great flyer without safe.
Hey guys I just ordered this based on your reviews of all your planes and always the reviews and advice are spot on I also ordered a dx6s I will need this radio for the future I just wish I had watched this first I could have used the spectrum radio from my night vapor... Oh well I'll still need the dx6s anyway for all my future BNF aircraft absolutely love you guys keep up the great work
Thanks for the video…I actually just bought one to have something smaller to fly in a local park close-by. Great video look forward to wife and the maiden flight.
TOTALLY helpful information!! Am getting closer to PNP or BNF (whichever) my Nano Talon Evo!! GREAT job Saylors and thanks for the surprise education!! 💟👍😘
I wanna fly a 100km/hr jet. But I'm gonna take your advice and start with something small like this. Thanks for the instructions man. Gonna get some as soon as I get a job, covid has got me down.
I can see getting this over the Sport Cub S 2 if you wanted longer flights by doing some soaring/gliding. The folding prop should eliminate a lot of drag while soaring. Hey, I just looked. It maybe that the folding prop would work on the Cub.
This video was awesome. I just bought this plane as my first glider and UMX. Unfortunately, I did this before seeing your video so I could not give you credit. I have a DXs and a NX8 radio. Binding the DXs was not problem and I flew with it through 6 battery packs. However I could not get the NX8 bound correctly. I would just get elevator and rudder to work but no throttle. Using your method everything was fine. I would like to do 2 more things. 1) Make the Switch-H the throttle cut out, and 2) change the image on the NX8 to a glider. Thanks.
I just got this plane. I am not a beginner and haven't tested it out yet due to weather, but I'd say the only thing I wish were different is it still has a coreless motor. I would've really liked to have seen a brushless motor in this after the revamp. I would've gladly paid another $20.
After just watching Gary's video (😢) I needed a video such as this... relaxing and informative with no drama. Thanks. Ps. I think there may be an update or two ready for your NX6.
@@TheRcSaylors I've got the NX8. WiFi updates are a great feature. Gary will get over his two crashes in pretty quick order I do believe. Has Abby fully recovered from her nose dive?
Walmart site has the WLtoys F959S sky king RTF for 48 bucks shipped for anyone wanting to dip their toe in the rc flight world. it's a glider roughly the same size and also has a 6 axis gyro.
Thanks for the good works! You and Abby realy Nice persons, and yes,Lets thanks GOD to give us this butiful hobby! Kind of greets Henk van der Bij from the netherlands
Lol, "God" didn't give you guys this hobby. Your passion for aviation and your wallet did. 2024 and people still believe in the greatest man-made scam ever created. Believe in yourself. I feel so sorry for kids growing up with religious parents, scaring them with the devil and whatnot. They never had a choice and the parents won't mind brainwashing their kids. Americans are using their belief to hide behind while they sin all the time. So pathetic and sad. Let's see how long this "wake tf up" comment stays haha.
It would be a great one! I recommend buying the Carbon Cub S2 RTF and this! CCS2 comes with a USB charger and radio, and a battery! This plane can use all the CCS2 stuff to fly. Then all you need are a couple extra $6 batteries 👍😁😎⚓
Mine just arrived but going to leave until my 8yo grandson is available to do an unbox, build, radio set up and maiden. He has his own ch with heli's. big money here in Australia, Radian was $225 with two battery packs. Expensive for what you get and I'm getting feedback in regards to the elevator servo faulting? you have to separate the fuselage to rectify!
I actually appreciated the beginner training video! I've watched a ton of RC videos that give a performance evaluation & skim over some of the "basic, this is how things work for all planes" kind of info. e.g. I've never seen anyone actually show how to actually go thru a binding process, so thanks. Question, if I do want to take the wing off for transport each time I'm done flying, what would be your suggestion in securing the battery (not use the velcro that covers the screws)?
I did buy this little guy (through your link!) for a front yard flyer. Good thing you didn’t look at the instructions for assembly as it shows how to put the wing in BACKWARDS!!! Secondly, the batteries they had linked don’t fit my little 1-S multi-charger. The pins are closer together than the smallest port on my charger. Also a bit perturbed that they put a geared-brushed motor in it. C’mon eFlite!
A tutorial,👍👍👏👏. Nice change up. At the beginning your LEAD-UP to the most easiest to fly, I ACTUALLY thought you were going to have Amelia fly it ( with some help of course ) I was so disappointed 😟☹😧😩😫 when it didn't happen 😢😭😭. Oh well some day 🤔🤔🤗🤗. Definitely enjoyed the tutorial, should do some more occasionally. So bring on The Abby Maiden, maybe Amelia will co-pilot 🤔🤔🤔🤨🤨❓❓❔❔. Good tutoring Nate.❗❕❗. ⚓⚓💚👍💚👍🦆👍⚓⚓.
You know, Amelia helped me fly a plane today actually! I really do think she could fly this one, with me ready at the controls to help her. When she gets a little older, I'm sure it will happen 👍😁⚓
So after a few years. My first real plane I bought bc of you guys. The carbon cub s2. After all these awesome planes, would you guys still love that one as much as you did before?
@@TheRcSaylors I am sad to say I've never had the confidence to do basic tricks with it. I do on majority of my other planes but this one makes me nervous.
I"m kind of confused. Are you and Abby reviewing the same airplanes on different videos? If so that's great to see the flight experience of expert user and one of a novice user.
Ok. A while back, you talk about balsa or foam. I have been flying balsa/ nitro for over 7 years now. The wife said I needed a little quick carry airplane to run to the airfield. This Radian" is my first electric one. She ordered a charger and a few "tiny" batteries. Don't know nothing about lipo. They catch on fire? Lol The airplane should be here May 10.
@larrymarks5836 I have researched lipo batteries and found that with proper care, they can last for years. Proper fireproof storage and keeping a storage charge keep them safe for the long term.
Actually I did skip this one, until the maiden video and found that you bound it with the Sport Cub radio. If you have to keep binding between the two, I wonder if using the radio from the original Sport Cub will work?
Mine is collecting dust on the wall. I fly the night Radian now anyways. Makes me want to fly mine again. I gave up on UMX after most of them failed. I got tired of throwing my money away.
I had this on the email list and ordered it PDQ after it became available. It arrived last Monday (9 Aug). No one had reviewed it when I ordered it (I kept checking), so the only video I'd seen was at Horizon. I'm still using the DX-6e (I still might order that dang NX-8 someday), bound it up and for kicks put throttle cut on H and added dual rates. Flew it around the back yard a little, even tied up in some low oak branches. Let it drop and flew out of it. Fun little plane. I also still might one day buy that 1S multi-charger. Oh, and I used a little tape to make sure the wing doesn't wiggle.
Lmao on, "please like this video" as a long time watcher of the channel I can HONESTLY say, before buying ANY rc plane I check to see if you have a review on it. If you do not have a review on said plane, I'm not going to buy it. 💯 honestly is the moto you have both been 💯 on. ❤ this channel ❤ & respect what you provide
How do u set up as3x settings? I got one of those eflite cubs and its stuck in "beginner" settings, cant loop or roll, it keeps it from tipping over any direction, boring lol.
