I totally did the opposite. Went to MX once for 2 weeks, went back for 3 weeks a couple of months later and bought a house, closed on the house 4 months later, and within 5 months sold or gave away everything I owned and moved to Mexico. Virtually no planning involved. When I make decisions sometimes I just jump off that cliff and never look back. Now here for 7 months and couldn't be happier with the house, the neighborhood, my nieghbors, the geographical area, and the climate.

Thanks Brenda. We left it at the border and boy are we glad that we did. It is such a relief not having people yell over top of each other and think they are having a conversation. That is the part that was starting to drive us nuts. People are entitled to have different views and that doesn't make them evil, stupid or hateful. They have lived a life that has lead them to these beliefs and if one took the time one may find that there is validity in what they have to say. That requires listening and actually engaging in conversation. That is totally lost in the tribalized US. OH Well, time to get off the soapbox. Thanks you for watching Brenda.

And the longer that we are down here in Mexico, the more we realize how unhospitable most of the US has become. It is a shame, but until people wake up and start to be civil to one another, I fear that it is on a road that leads to bigger problems. It starts in Washington, when the leaders of the country show civility, people will follow. It has not been evident for many years and people have taken their cue from them. Glad that is a problem that is no longer ours to worry about!

Im native of Mexico,, born in a small town at the time.. nows more lije a city, my father was from jalisco and mom was an American from Arizona. As child our parents took us there while on school vacation. Im now 68, i spend a whole lot of time in tijuana. I've always brushed off media's news feed. My sister returned in the 70s and started various businesses and very successful. Ive traveled to restorts as an adult with family. But 10 years ago life threw me a curve.. divorce.. lost everything to her, courts just side with women in California.. i did end up with my children as that to me was more valuable than materialistic things even money.. im finally very stabilized mentally and financially. Soon i too will be heading back to my country of birth.. where? Don't know, i plan to rent Air BnBs to figure out where i want to set roots...

@@GringosRUs that's a deal 🤝 First we thought of Chapala area, not Ajijic... Too darn crowd, some entitled expats and the infrastructure sounds like is getting too critical regarding sustainability ( according to Lake Chapala Society's RU-vid reports, and several comments from the locals; this trend seems to be spreading towards Jocotepec, Chapala city , San Antonio Tlayacapan. We will be visiting there BUT to check out the towns further towards the East side of the lake and up north towards Puerto Vallarta (far from the coast... Heat and I no longer get along. Got good information from Access Chapala Real Estate agency's talked personally with them and we will see what they know about the near areas of Guadalajara/Puerto Vallarta/Chapala.... @GringosRUs Год назад
@@Dragon-kf5sb We are also doing the Jocotepec, Ajijic and Chapala run at some point. The longer we are in the country, the less enthused I feel about Ajijic. When we were doing the planning stages, it was very high on the list, but in watching other RU-vidrs, it has lost a little of the luster for me anyway. If we were a little down on SMA due to the increased Gringo presence, I have a fear that Ajijic will be the same. Plus there is the traffic issue and that is not something that can readily be fixed as the layout really dictates the road possibilities. One of the things that we are doing is trying each location at it's worst time of the year if possible. Like Merida in the heat of the summer. Everyone says how hot it is there, well, if we love it then, we will definitely love it in the winter. We just don't want to be guilty of not totally knowing what we are getting ourselves into. If we start melting on our videos or resort to doing them only inside, then that will be a good indicator. You do sound a lot like us, looking for that right location. It looks good on the map, but until you try it you don't know. Hence our 4 year tour around Mexico seeing all the potential landing spots. If it's a staring contest at the end, I am toast. LOL

Thank you so much. You are correct in that it does take two people committed not only to the adventure, but also each other. That is the solid foundation that is required to undertake something like this. We have told people from the beginning that you have to buy in 100% to what you are about to do, and to each other as it will expose weaknesses in a relationship quickly. Thanks for watching!

Great video guys! This is the reason why a lot of people is moving down to Mexico. most people in the US ignore what is In the other side of the border. Most people hear Mexico and think about violence, cartels, kidnapping, But that's not the real MEXICO.

You are 100% correct Edgar. The media in the US just likes to paint that picture so that their viewers feel safer there. We have never encountered anything that has made us feel unsafe. Maybe uncomfortable, but that was mostly due to our ignorance of what was happening. The pace of life, the happiness and the sense of family here in Mexico is what makes this a truly magical country.

That was a huge chore and we really wish we had had more time to accomplish it. But start writing your plans down and refining them and then before you know it, it will be time to move to Mexico. I do recommend that if you are able to get your residency in 2023 to do so. That way you get the rates before they go up yet again.
