It is difficult to see how much space there is between the TV side and the stove burners. If it is a short distance, I think that if the closest burner is in use possibly what's cooking could splatter onto the TV. Just a thought.
Just curious if they ran Ethernet throughout the RV? I have been full timing in a 43' RV and even though wireless has become more stable, ethenet hookups behind all the TV's, and a couple spots elsewhere like garage, living room to where a router can be placed. It would be so much better bandwidth without interruptions. Love y'alls ❤️ videos, wish y'all the best in your new RV
I have an idea for the televator area - if they were to add a thin, hinged surface over the televator, you could hinge it up to watch TV, but have it down for added prep space so you don’t need to worry about liquids or food getting into the Televator itself. Just a thought
It's great that Grand Design is receptive to customer input. I love a lot about your prototypes. Please allow me to toss in a couple ides. 1. The toilet room. A couple grab bars on the opposing walls to assist us weaklings to stand up. 2. Don't laugh. My former motorhome had all the drawers in the "kitchen" lined with white carpet. It kept any pots and pans from sliding and banging around. I loved it. I love the lighter wall covering and the simple valences. Many folks are repainting theirs and removing the valences anyway.
I’m shocked they didn’t come up with an option for desktops/tabletops in lieu of the bottom bunk seats in the garage! So many people use the garage as an office. (2021 397TH)
Love the new floor plan! I wish they’d offer desks as an option in the garage instead of benches since so many people full time ( work or homeschooling)
It’s beautiful!!! The one thing I would add if I could.. In the water closet.. a small cabinet for tp and chemicals.. doesn’t have to be very big but ideal to have it handy.
Suggestions: 1) given your data requirements having GD install a cable thru-wall fitting in the garage would be good input from you & useful to buyers. 2) a new feature on home cabinets are toe-kick drawers. Given the need for storage in an RV the additional storage would be a good feature 3) having the unit prep'd for future lithium batteries would be nice. 4) putting in the water filter canisters would be nice. 5) will the units suspension have the upgrades that you have added.
LOVE IT! We had a 397TH and lived in it for over 4 months. We plan to go fulltime in the next couple of years and we think this will be the camper we go with.
Hello. I never comment because most of the time I agree with everything that you say. Being that this is a prototype I would like to make a couple of suggestions. Before I get into them I understand that you have put a ton of work into this. And thank you for all your hard work for all of us full timers. The things that I would change seem simple to me. But I'm also not a professional. For me I think that the garage was the perfect size, except that the bathroom didn't need a shower. So going a foot bigger took away from the living area. Use that area in the living room so that the island doesn't block the TV / Fireplace. Also in the bathroom take the private toilet room and open it up. You would gain more counter room. Other than that I'm extremely impressed and glad that I decided to hold out on getting a new trailer. This one is the best that I have seen ever! Keep up all the good work and again thank you for all your hard work.
Love your idea about the commode/sink area. Brilliant. I'm guessing the extra door is for privacy in case someone opens the door to walk through to the bedroom, but I would rather not have that closeted feel for a commode. Love our current bathroom setup in our Momentum Toy Hauler. Still 3 x's more spacious than our Cherokee Grey Wolf that literally was like a closet. Haha.
Wow great job! A suggestion for the cabinet latches - use magnets instead of those male/female plastic pieces. They eventually get bent and have to be readjusted. Magnets are strong and don't need to be adjusted.
All looks great. Extra foot in the garage us always used, especially with longer utv's. Big question is tank capacities. More is better for when boondocking. Also floor hooks for toys, more allows for more packing configurations (for those who haul more than a just a Lucille). I added more to my garage. Will be watching next round for that.
OK, that had to be an awesome experience coordinating the changes for the new models. Everything you recommended as changes made the design more functional and much more livable. I’m excited to see what the final version will be like and if you can tow it with your Ford F-450. We want a toy hauler, but so far we haven’t found one that hits all the requirements, that is until now. We have a Forest River Riverstone Legacy and I have a feeling that my wife, and I, would change to the new floor plan in a heartbeat. We won’t be at the Hershey show as we just started out full time RV lifestyle and are heading west for several reasons. Maybe next year will be the year to upgrade to a Toy Hauler…
They named it wrong - should be the 410CTD - for Chad and Tara Design! Great work; this is the kind of customer advocacy that every design team should seek out when they start on a new or a re-design project. Are you guys going to have to visit the "mothership" and sign the cabinet doors on each new one? Oh, sorry, that's Tiffin's bag.
The both of you have done a great job over the last 4 years helping all of us to have a better experience RVing. I'm sure Grand Design really embarrassed your thoughts and feedback to help build the best toy hauler in the industry.. For us that have been following you since the beginning are so very proud of your work and dedication to the industry and your followers 😀 Can't wait to see your color choices and the told matching rig. New home, new RV and New truck are so exciting and well deserved my friends. The Banks Family 👪 PS... Can they put the washer and dryer in the garage lifted 3 feet above the floor so that you don't lose the floor space? 2. Are you going to a gooseneck this time so you can better utilize you f450 bed better?
Not a fan, sorry but this is a miss in my opinion. Livingroom is not a good set up with the entertainment center. Televator is not good and the island is right in everyone's face. No-good on storage for kitchen. You went for look and definitelynot functional.
@@sherisanderson4600 thank you so much for answering my question I realizes you get a 1000 message every day advice well taken looking forward to your next adventure 😊 The Banks Family 👪
Beautiful. The bathroom mirror defiantly needs to be a medicine cabinet and get rid of the frame so there is more mirror. (edge to edge). Only part you didn't go over is the loft, but I guess that's pretty standard/typical. Exciting! So excited! I'm excited! Are you excited? We can all be excited together!
Thanks for sharing and inspiration for us to take on this amazing lifestyle 3years ago last week! We love y’all, keep on killin it so happy for you both! 😘😘😘
It’s very cool that Grand Design works so closely with you guys. Nice work Lance. We purchased our first Grand design 31MB last week. Couldn’t be happier!
Awesome design much better than most anything out as of now Good job guys Very similar to our 2670mk Your design came out just in time we are upgrading this winter to a fifth wheel 2 options 410thr 13.6’ toy hauler Same design and foot print 410th Same design same foot print but a 11 ‘ toy hauler For people that don’t won’t 44” rig
Love the front closet with W/D in the center. It helps with weight balance, but the biggest part is easy access to the W/D. Hope that they carry that design feature into other product lines. EDIT - agree with another comment about the close proximity of the televator and the stove.
Niiiice!!! Thats great guys!!! I’d add a flip up counter top on the end of the island for additional counterspace as needed, or simply throw a compact bar stool under for additional seating. Chad you could sit there and drink 🍻🍺 and supervise while Tara is cooking. Love the interior colors!!! Those dark colors always were a deal breaker for me. Can’t wait to see y’alls when its done!!! 👍😃🍻
Nice design on your new rig! We have been living in our 40 foot North-Point for over a year while building our house. Our TV is up all of the time when not traveling. I would not want it immediately adjacent to the stove because cooking will spatter and smoke to some extent and it will be a constant battle keeping the screen clean. The bedroom chest top would be better on drawer rails so you don't need to clear the top off every time you access the hidden storage. We have such a chest in our house and the sliding top is nice and easy to use. We like our individual recliners for viewing the TV or reading, our couch is for visitors and is used only occasionally otherwise. Best Wishes from Petersburg AK
Winning! So excited! A Grand Design rig is my dream RV. I have owned Keystone and Forest River, it seems like the GD team really cares about the customer. Bonus points for dog features!
So, were you guy's really excited?? I couldn't tell. lol.... Well done, personally like the design and flow. Plus that basement storage solves a big need with the general 5th wheeler platforms. Plus you two could sub-let if things ever got tight. The Island is a home run, huge drawers and an off-set sink. Great idea! Awesome to hear that this unit will be at the Hershey show along with the two of you. Very cool!! Hope to see you guys while we are there. Beat Army!
After carefully looking at the Grand Design and the Riverstone Legacy I went with the Riverstone. The biggest factor or two biggest factors were the lack of thick insulation in the walls. The Grand Design is MUCH more susceptible to outside noise as well as the obvious insulation factor. The other thing was the cabinets and the hardware that supports the cabinets is vastly cheaper and more flimsy. I've heard nothing but good things about the folks at Grand Design. Weight and cost prevents them from stepping up to Riverstone quality. I love your design and I'm sure it will work well for you. I wish they'd just add about 15k to the price and deliver a product that has the two things I mentioned.
Happy for you guys. Looks amazing 👏 I know it's a lot of work and fun at the same time. Nice and bright in side. Lots of room inside. You where the first person's we ever watched. Good luck on the new RV and hope to see you on the road someday. 👍
LOVE it!! The toilet door would be cool to have a frosted glass rectangle near the top for some daylight but anyone could add that at their own delight.
It’s a beauty. If we went with this model, we’d look at putting a desk and cabinets in the area next to the small bathroom. Of course we only need one desk not two like you both need. Or leave the seating and put a desk where you’re putting the dinette. Love the closet arrangement. I think if you could, one window in the bedroom it would allow for shelves. You might be able to put in a seat or hamper or shoe rack at the end of the dresser. Colors are great. More like our rig - not a Grand Design or Toy Hauler as the GDs had been too dark and we don’t have a toy (but would have been nice to be able to get one).
What an incredible, one of a kind experience for yall. Every RV will have things that we like or don't like... here are some of mine: Don't like that you need to look over the island to view the TV. If someone is watching TV and someone is cooking or preping food on the island, they will be in the way of the person watching TV. - the bed could have been adjustable - the dresser top lifting up is great as well AZ the drawers tucked into the corner behind the shower. - like the large bathroom and separate head room.
I can see that this unit will fit you. With the flooring consider adding central vacuum system - pick up area in kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and toy hauler. I do not think you would loose much space in the basement. Any spice rack possibility in the kitchen? I hope Grand Design works with you for putting in your desk system and the washer dryer. Great that ceiling cabinets have doors that open upward. Maybe the lifting up bedroom dresser top could be split into two halves - then stuff could be placed on top of one half, and the other side lift up. It will be awesome to see your final unit!
Looks great!! Nice work all around. There are so many nuances involved in this process. We’ve enjoyed our Imagine prototype and the process of making logical changes that RVers will appreciate. Looking forward to seeing it either at the National Rally or Hershey!
That floorplan is just about perfect. I miss not having a dining area in my toy hauler. I am excited to see what they come up with for tank capacity and weights.
How’s that song go… “I’m so exited and I just can’t hide it….” Yup that was you two! So happy for you. Can’t wait to see the move in video. Thanks for sharing…. The EXCITEMENT!!!
What an AMAZING model. Mind blown. The unity between all of the parties involved is just super! Suggestion for the faucet and the sink in the main bathroom: 1. center the sink (storage on both sides for his / hers toothbrushes and small things) // also current issue with sink being on the side is that you will have to angle into it while standing, there is limited elbow space on the right sided at the moment. this is going to kill your back and posture. 2. get a raised sink (helps with keeping stuff separate, also is good for taller people). 3. get rid of the tiny window (lets be honest it will be closed most of the time anyways as it looks right into the shower) //also there is already enough natural light from skylights 4. put a HUUUUUGE heated and backlit double mirror in there that opens up for storage. 5. is it possible to use the back washroom for a stacking washer dryer? would be nice to allow for easy conversion for this. KEEP THIS UP! YOU ARE MAKING RV LIFE EASIER FOR ALL OF US :)
I like your idea about the sink location and mirror too. I agree that it's a little too close to the wall. Tara really wanted the window for more natural light so I understand that but maybe a horizontal window above the mirror could work 🤔 I also agree that a shelf inset into the wall of the water closet would be good to store supplies.
Very well thought out! Our last coach was a 45' Teton 5th wheel. Had 4 large slides which gave us a fabulous amount of room and an extremely comfortable floor plan. Sadly they went out of business in 2008. They were the premier manufacturer of 5th wheels. Having the double slides in the bedroom made for a magnificent master suite. The unit previewed here is very interesting and shows lots of creativity. Like to see the final result.
Wow, I agree, an exciting time for sure! As for the little things, I keep watching you guys get in/out with the main door. That slide seems close & stairs seem high/narrow. Carrying stuff or Miss Daisey in, while using the left arm, while trying to swing out the door to the right, seems pretty tight. That would bug me more than an the bathroom mirror situation (re: the little stuff that can bug ya). The doors seem more narrow too, not everyone is slender, etc.
WHOAH! This is AWESOME! We originally were looking at toy haulers so we can have a garage as a flex space but didn't like the living space and bathroom in the TH floor plans. So we were going to move over to a Solitude rear kitchen floor plan. This is a game changer with the modifications you all are making. We Gotta See This "Changing Lanes" floor plan!
Love the video. Thanks again for sharing. We have learned so much from watching your videos and enjoy them too. Excited for you guys to get your new home. Big changes for you all in 2022
Oh my!!! This is a dream!!! Absolutely Gorgeous!!! I Love every single thing about it!!! 1 thing I’d love to see is a built in vanity, chair, mirror and lights. I could honestly do without the dresser in the bedroom and have it in that spot. That would be fantastic!!! Ty ty ty
Thanks for the suggestions! Although they would likely keep the dressers in that space for storage, I can definitely see how you could make that space into a vanity area! 😊
love the final model and reducing the couch by three inches to allow more space in the dining area is important. The medicine cabinet is so important so I hope they can make it work. The bedroom is fantastic and love all the storage. The basement area is perfect for access and storage. Great design you too.
It looks very nice and you did a great job. I’m still working out the kinks on my 2021 397TH. I think it takes a RU-vid Channel to get great support from GD. So many issues and my email to the CEO went unanswered. A year and a half and I still have the 3 season doors falling off. Having said that, still enjoying our trips and enjoy your channel. I learned so much over the past two years and used your channel to get started. Can’t thank you enough for all the tips and knowledge sharing. Enjoy your new rig!
Looks amazing! A few suggestions: Disc brakes 17.5in tires Ducted AC Delete Step Above! Please lord, HATE step above IS suspension and/or shocks Dinette with a bench w/storage (Luxe has this in one of their TH models, it's a small bench with drawers underneath it) Latches to lock the pocket doors closed or open Rack to hold ladder or some other way to store the ladder (we put rubber grabs on the ceiling of the garage under bunk on our 351M) Shade for the rear patio door (we installed a chain driven roller shade) Factory GenY gooseneck option (or Goosebox if it's in the weight rating) LEDs for all clearance/brakes/etc Variable speed water pump w/accumulation tank Go to 4 or 5 hinges for the garage door, it's too easy to tear out the screws when there are only 3 hinges Fuel injected or diesel inverter generator option Heat pumps for all 3 ACs instead of just the main w/soft starts (I think all the new ones have them now) Ethernet cabling from OneControl unit (on top of cabinets) to each TV location
I’m so happy for y’all, in working with Grand Design to come up with the prototype! I wish the window, above the bed/headboard, would be bigger. We have this in our rig and it’s absolutely awesome! Everything you’ve done, so far, is amazing!!!
I saw the new floorplan this week at the Hershey RV show (and also met Chad & Tara!)... It's amazing. As they said in the video, there is no way to describe the open feel of the kitchen/living area! The video simply doesn't do it justice. It's an incredibly large feeling living space for a toy hauler that still has a 13+ foot toy area.
It’s so much better than the previous model! It’s absolutely gorgeous. My only complaints are that I don’t like the steps into the bedroom and I wish it was a front bathroom. But with a rig this gorgeous and functional you can absolutely get over that!!
" I'm so excited" Someone listening to the Pointer Sisters? Nice looking rig, hope it works out well for you. Having built and remodeled homes I can tell you no matter how hard you try something will pop up that you say why didn't we do that. Stay safe and healthy.
ALMOST perfect, the second they said the washer dryer hook ups were in the master closet I sighed! Give the option to have the stackable washer dryer in the garage space opposite the half bath sink! So many of us want that extra closet space and don’t plan to put toys in the garage. Just putting the hook ups in the garage would be a huge improvement and honestly would make this an RV that we would be likely to purchase!
I love my side patio on my 399THR but I give it up for the extra seating and that insane basement. Y'all did good. Can't wait to see y'alls with your personal touch.
I love it! We are having a solitude 390rk-r built, probably in the next few weeks. We know it’ll be the new lighter interior and I imagine it will look a lot like this. The one thing I REALLY wish they would do, is dimmers for all the lights through the one connect screen. I hate that there’s no dimmers in our current one! Fingers crossed
You did such a great job helping to design this. Our phone wouldn’t let us comment when we first watched it, so we came back to comment. It was great meeting you today.
Great job on the design. Doesn’t make us want to give up our Solitude 390RK but this is the best looking toy hauler on the market. Bathroom is a knockout. Toy hauler bathrooms and bedrooms are the worst but this one nails it. Love how they did the 1/2 bath. The negatives for me are the televator and the mid living. The island is in front of the TV. If we got this model we would move the living to the back and replace the couch/table with one long countertop for office space. The biggest drawback to the design is the lack of campsite windows. It’s too bad it couldn’t have swapped the kitchen for the living. But like you said no layout is perfect. Still you did an amazing job.❤️
I really like the 3rd version of the 2nd prototype. The corner seating looks great! I’m not as excited about the window right across from the shower, I guess it’s a shade it would be ok. Enjoy the lighter colors! Well done! 👍🏻🖖🏻😘🙏🏻
This design was obviously oblivious to children and families. Very centered on couples only. That is fine but it would have been helpful upfront to indicate who the targeted customer is. Great storage but I heard nothing about CCC. SO MANY RVs have lots of storage that results in owners over loading them making them unsafe on the roads. Also no discussion the the size truck neede to pull this fifth wheel. Chances are you are looking at an ICE truck in the $100K+ range. Cannot even imagine an EV truck. Maybe do a followup video with these considerations.
Your excitement is contagious! 🎉 I can only imagine the time, effort, and hard work that went into this collaboration. It's great to see a manufacturer listening and actually implementing client requests. As you said, there is no perfect RV that fits everyone but there are many awesome things that have been incorporated into this design aesthetically and functionally. Love the optional W/D hookup in the center of the closet (a garage option would be nice too). Love the inset storage in the wall (thinking the water closet could use some similar storage). Making the coffee bar deeper is awesome..,engineers should always make this space deep/wide enough for a coffee maker, Keurig, Brita water container, and/or Berkey. The kitchen sink to one side instead of centered is a HUGE improvement. Space for a 13 gal trash can under the counter is always good to have. Maybe a clear plexi glass divider between the televator and stovetop would prevent leakage/splatter, etc from possible damage to the TV. It would be something extra to clean but would probably be worth it. Maybe it could even slide up into the upper cabinet when it's not in use(?). Many have said the bathroom window isnt needed but I'm with you and the more natural light the better but would probably add a light penetrating frosted film due to being across from the shower...maybe a horizontal window above the mirror would work too. So will GD remove the couches in the garage and adapt the brackets for your desks in your actual model? Seems such a waste to have them knowing you (and many others) won't use/need them. I really look forward to future videos of you enjoying your new home! Can't wait to see all the personal additions/changes you'll make. ♥️
It's a beautiful unit. Like the light color tone. Love the windows. Love the roominess in the bedroom. Don't like the TV arrangement. If someone is watching TV, you really don't have much counter space and you are standing in front of the TV. Then there's the danger of spilling something down into tv area. With the large island, it's looks like it's blocking the view of the fireplace. And the dinette and couch looks very cramped. You may regret that choice. Shower is very nice; however, don't really like walking through the bathroom to get to the bedroom. But a lot of campers have that arrangement. Storage is great. All and all, it's a nice RV. 👍
This video was really exciting to watch. You and the team at Grand Design have really done a phenomenal job with this floor plan design. I personally would love this in a Class A. I know to do a Class A you would loose some of the garage space. You could probably only get a 8' garage. But for me this floor plan on a Class A Toy Hauler would be the perfect rig. Thanks for sharing the video.
Hey!! This new floor plan is really great! You had some very nice ideas! The GD teams and your collaboration is really doing nice improvements. I am wondering why there are no cabinets in the toilet space from the bathroom, seems like a lot of space lost! Also it would be nice to use those spaces efficiently!
You two were like two kids on Christmas Morning. I really like to amount of room you will have in the living room area. This will be the nicest and I think the most popular Momentum. Good job 👏 What about having an antenna conduit from the garage up to the roof?
Nice to see GD working on some nice changes! Sorry however to see the loss of depth on the pantry. Would love to see a model like this without a rear 1/2 bath and option for a standard depth pantry.
Beautiful! Great use of space, very well thought out especially for Full Time living. You all did a great job and how amazing is it, that you got to work with Grand Design on this project? Can't wait to see it in person. I'm hoping they will maybe add a W/D hookup option in the garage so those of us with shoe issues can keep all that amazing closet 🥰 It's beautiful!
Thanks so much! I don’t envy these RV designers, because it’s a challenging task! Especially with toy haulers having even less living space to work with. I’m not sure about the WD hookups in the garage but we can ask. We prefer to have ours in the front, but mainly because we don’t want the noise when we are working and it seems to take up so much space back there. Although it would be great to have all of that storage up front (we have hat issues lol) 😜
Thank you for the lighter colors, a real living room w/dinette and big bathroom upgrades in your design. This would be a hot seller if it came to production! production
Great RV... really like the kitchen/living area!!! My only concern is what would happen if you have a water spill over the TV opening when the elevator is closed ? Could this damage the TV ?
I have owned a Grand Design for years they are a great company to work with even when my unit was out of the warranty period they still took care of issues that I had. I would hope they will give you options between the L shape couch and the original setup.
Like the bathroom and the more practical pantry so you can actually access all your food and the Master suite changes. If I got it that master suite would have even more room because I only want a queen bed. Hope it works great for you guy's and than you for taking us on this special tour and wow to Grand design that they will actually work with customers to make them their custom RV design.
Very nice, our favorite model is still the 376TH. We like the separation of the living, kitchen and master bedroom, I know that floor plan does not work for you. With all the upgrades you have done it is going to be a chore to move all that into a new rig. Congratulations on the new rig you guys deserve it.
I like it but the fireplace seems to be partially hidden by the island. Plus the televator is so close to the range that I’d be concerned about dropping something into it.
