Grief iby itself has never been crippling to the format no matter how “unfun” it may be even though the format many other decks with nonsense interactions and win cons. If players are gonna whine about any cards/interactions that are remotely powerful then hell ban anything above uncommon, or play pauper. Lol

I mean, with Grief at least the combo is 3 or your own cards (the scam card, the card you exiled, and the grief itself) for 2 of your opponent's cards and a threat on the board (so it's still even in card advantage or whatever we call it). And yeah, the person playing the grief is picking all of those... but people deal with Thoughtseize and other effects like it. It's strong, sure, but not crazily so. The big things about it vs fury is that a 4/3 menace is both a much slower clock and much easier to answer (even if you need to topdeck that answer) than a 4/4 double strike... and that a scammed fury being 8 damage spread as you chose meant it was probably getting rid of way more stuff than a grief was with its etbs.

Grief is broken, cascade decks are broken, yawgmoth is broken, scales is broken, amulet Titan and Tron are broken......where's the spell combo and hard control decks? Oh wait, Crybabies got those two archetypes banned outta the fuckin format!! Gtfoh with your defense of grief, that card was an absolute mistake.

​@@riotron1026If you don't see how powerful taking 2 "nonland" with a 5-4 turn clock with evasion at turn 1 is, then you don't understand how card advantage work on diff color pies. Or watch the video a 1000x.

​@@someguy1ificationfor me what's broken is the 1cmc instant speed undying effect without drawback. Imagine if they don't exist, Evoke elementals would not dominate that hard and they're gonna be quite balanced. Just because new cards introduce new strong effects doesn't mean they're the broken mechanic. After all, magic is all about managing resources, and for instant speed 1cmc to have that kind of effect, i would say it was only a matter of time when it will meet it's combo, it's just this time, evoke elementals seems like the culprits because they are the new card effects.
