It happens more than you’d think. There have been many jobs that never became videos because I forgot to hit record and didn’t realize it until it was too late to be salvageable.
Ohhh he cray cray like dat ! Lol we all have imaginary friends. I used to think its crazy talking to yourself, but most people don't listen! Whats the difference? My dogs listen & understand better than humans .
@cclngthr when I was taking freshman algebra in college I didn't like how the professor was teaching how to do whatever it was so I just didn't pay attention and did it the way I was taught in HS. Friends in class (and their friends in that same professors class at a different time) didn't understand what to do so during lunch I showed all of them the way I was doing it and it just clicked for them.
in aus. i build houses.. the council allows houses, double story, 2m from the road. next to a p/pole. doing the 2nd story, with extended scaff, shade cloth, form ply as a wall. the lines were 1m away, . im fitting 6m steel battons.. no room to move or sling a cat.. fk.. then a guy says the house 6 down other end, was worse, fk.. another single story, just finished slab, the council puts yellow lines, no parking, round the curb..????.... didnt they allow the house to be built,??.. then fine you for parking building it. fks...
I think you may want to have a heart to heart talk with your cameraman. He needs to be told that if he doesn't get his stuff together that he's fired! LMAO 😅😅
No deal - that's a sucker's bet. Besides, been there, done that. Took 20 years of tools, boxes, cabinets, and the like from California to Pennsylvania for my upper division work, and back again when I graduated. The move back was a tale beyond imagination, but eventually, we made it, and didn't die. Although my soul did leave my body at one point.
Now if I, a certified armchair operator, was to do this, I'd have put that Badlands 12k winch on the front of the Western Star months ago when it was first mentioned. That would have meant I could drag the U-Haul backwards off the pole. Except I wouldn't have done any of that because I'm sat on my chair.
@@larryjohns8823 It's not a race. Casey is methodical and cautious which is important for liability reasons. Also, do you know for a fact whether or not that tire was damaged ? Casey was on scene as compared to you being behind the keyboard.
I don't think a 12k would have pulled that thing, heavy as it was and with both front wheels not disposed to rolling (plus he would have had to get under it to put it in neutral to even have a *CHANCE*.
Someone south of me has a long white Western Star. It has me doing double takes every time I see it. They even have pulled a drop center trailer with it and that really gets me doing double takes.
@matthewbeasley7765 he just needs an "i hate Casey LaDelle" sticker for his doors, so you know it's *not* Casey... ...but, that sounds like something Casey might try to convince the road pirates he isn't himself, too.
The Fort Knox gold bars WERE well organized until the tire went flat at speed and caused them to veer hard to the right hitting the only pole in 4 Miles.
As someone who has watched Ron Pratt videos for a few years now and just recently watching yours, I understand everyone does things differently. In a sense it's refreshing and insightful. As Ron likes to say, there are many ways to get to ten on a job, and essentially that's what you are doing Casey. I appreciate the job you do and that you're willing to bring us along. Sometimes I like making suggestions, but it's one of those you don't know if the person you are making the suggestion to has tried it previously.
Driver probably moving his machine shop to a new location and came up short of his destination? Collisions with immovable objects cuases the load to shift violently. Probably lucky the load didn't come completely into the cab.
I was employed as "a traffic control specialist". full pads and helmets where I worked were asked for cause people were so HONEY BADGER about being delayed, or stopped! My claim to fame was that for 6 months out of a year , we closed down I95 IN VA to one lane( from 4 to 1+ the exits)JUST MAKE 4 MORE ON EACH SIDE. ....thank GOD THAT IT WAS ONLY CONES AND BARRELS THAT GOT RUN DOWN .....WE DID HAVE ONE INJURY REPORT THOUGH......HE JUMPED OFF THE BACK OF THE GENERATOR TRUCK VS USING THE STAIRS! HE BROKE HIS LEG TO THE HIP!!!!!!
I have ZERO interest in towing and such but I REALLY like seeing someone do something so well. Your honest narrative is a really cool feature of your personality...being able to speak what you are thinking. It also comes with something else you possess...not caring what people think! You have stated that they can unsubscribe, or just go away, and you are gonna be an unapologetic Casey. I wish everyone would do the right thing, regardless of popular opinion, like you.
I didn't even know what a rim sling was until I saw it, but after watching youtube videos I am now an expert in towing and think that you 100% need a zip tie on there because reasons.
Saskatchewan,Canada- triple fines if traffic doesn’t slow to 60km/hr passing any emergency vehicles including tow trucks. And it is enforced. Cameras through construction areas. Some tragic unnecessary deaths.
Casey, we all have our own ways of doing things, just because one person says it’s right for them it doesn’t mean it’s right or needed for you, if others put zip ties on their rim slings it doesn’t mean you have to do the same, if someone jumped off a cliff do you have to do it also just because they did? No of course not, you do what you do (which is an amazing job with amazing videos) and let others do what they do. Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming. There is always going to be someone who believes they know better than you but hey, that’s their choice.
My wife and I are celebrating our 80th birthday next year. We enjoy your channel very much. You and your family are nice. “Est Illigigimus noncarbarindom est”.
Casey, that Milwaukee impact gun has multiple modes. That mode slows down so when the lug nut comes off the stud it doesn't get launched, in your case into traffic, and you don't have to chase them. If you don't like it put it on setting 3 and let it ring!
Yes, there is a dimple stamped into the frame to create a crumple zone. The kinked frame is NOT factory, that is the result of the crumple zone doing its job
It’s the trailers you can’t use an impact on. The lug nuts on the trailers are greased and only tighten to 55ftlbs. You can use a 1/2 inch impact to zip them off, but you have to put them back on by hand and use a torque wrench.
Some of the new Milwaukee impacts have an auto feature... they'll full torque to break a lug nut loose, but stop at about 50ft lbs when tightening.. I have 1 gen older 1/2"... it's a tempting feature, but not enough to drop an extra $400+ on an impact.
I worked at UHaul Repair Center outside Philly while I was going to college. I got the job based on my previous 20 years as an auto mechanic. I don't remember ever seeing one of those things without heavy brake dust all over the front wheels, both because people overload them, and, as any OTR trucker can tell you, they drive them way too fast. 45 MPH limit on the trailers, for example, clearly doesn't mean them.
I worked for a towing company years ago. Towed a u haul that was full of roofing shingles from a tear off. That thing was ridiculously heavy. Top speed of like 10 mph. I've seen ron Pratt talk about the zip tie trick. Great trick. If you need it.
It was obviously overloaded With Tools ,which caused the rear tire to blow which caused the driver to lose control and crash. This is my take. Thanks for the video bro. Also If I was you Casey if it's possible, I would weigh that U- haul before you take it over the mountain. Just sayin man be safe.
Casey I use wood blocks just like yours for my camper, a nice trick get some 3/8 vinyl or rubber tubbing cut about 10” long and screw the ends to block and have instant handles you’ll love ..
The outrigger only had line contact to grip in the direction of the pull. (Very narrow) Suggest a open inverted bear trap shaped shoe to set the outrigger in for omni-direstional grip when nedded. Oval, square or round
I am sorry Casey. Whether I am watching you or Ron or Pepe’s or Plaza or Sumnter or Merciful, you all do what works for you. I watch videos to just watch them NOT to criticize or be an authority. I may or not always agree but it is your video and you just be and do you. Thank you for what you do. 🙂
I was watching Ron Pratt for a long time. Probably why I got recommended this channel over a year ago. Two very different styles and functions though. His just got too long as well. He does have some nice trucks though, lol. That rotator in Casey red...
Awesome job once again! I watch several trucking and towing channels, yours is both and I love it!!! You don't sugar coat it and I thank you for that. When I see that you a new video out and just gotta watch it. GIVE US MORE CASSEY!!!
Some U haul accidents suck. Had to help a coworker one day cause he decided not to wait for me to help with a recovery and I feel he made it worse. He blew the power steering pump on our 2003 wrecker. I Had to cut the damn exhaust off, swap wheels like you did and more. 🤦♂️. God it done and that’s what matters.
Looked easy, but not so, really beaten up, glad I’m not the owner. On another note, I admire your patience in responding to folks who watch one video on towing and believe there is only one way to carry out a task, when every tow is different.
I wonder if this falls into the category of "Oh Shit" on the part of THAT driver? Curious, why would they say no impact wrenches. only torque? Are they afraid the nuts will come loose and fall off?
Pretty much! Impacts are notorious for either tightening things too tight, or not enough! If you have ever had a wheel nut you could not get loose, it was probably put on with a impact! The same if you have ever had one come loose, unless you put them on by hand and forgot to tighten them! 🫢 Oops!
I think you should put a zip tie on your rim sling just so you can say, " see, I didn't need that" every time you use it! Great video....except for when it wasn't! (missing footage!)
If that u-haul is as unevenly (poorly) loaded as it looks, it's going to be a bit dicey taking it back to where it needs to go for salvage. Best of luck with that chore, and please be careful.
If it was legally rented, uhaul will empty the contents into a storage unit for you after an accident. Though idk if that happens with a DUI. Happened to a buddy when a trailer shredded a tire and rolled onto its side. They wouldn't let him empty it at the accident. They took the whole trailer back. Itemized the contents, emptied it into a storage unit. They had someone there when he retrieved them and documented anything that was damaged. They paid for everything damaged, including the uhaul cardboard boxes.
The videos can be a great reminder/training video of how to hook up for recovery. Casey explains the dos and don't s his errors. He tells it like it is!
Over 40 years ago, I rented a 24' U-Haul to move from IL to AZ. I had so much weight that 1.5" of the rear mud flaps were ground away. Same truck got 4.5 mpg whether loaded or unloaded. There is along hill from Camp Verde to Phoenix where my top speed was 17mph, in 2nd gear. I could wind it out and go 20mph, bang 3rd, but it would just slow down. It was a very long trip!
That climb out of Verde Valley is horrendous. But for as long as I can remember, we call the climb from Black Canyon City to Sunset Point "U-haul hill" for all the slow trucks on it.
Ron Pratt ... that was one of the 1st youtubers I ever subscribed to and because if his channel I found Matt, Paul, Rory, Merlin,, Mike & Shawn, Hector and You ... one big happy youtube community
I had originally thought that you need to carry an aluminum pipe wrench with you - great for adjusting bumpers. Then you proved me wrong with the blue cable on the Zacklift 😁
Always enjoy the videos Casey. My milwaukee does the weird low speed no load thing on a setting near the battery. When mine is on #3 it goes full speed all the time.
Casey, if you didn’t already know, you can adjust the power level on the impact. The setting it’s on only gives you all the beans when it senses tension. There’s a button to adjust it to a higher power level for all the beans all the time.
We viewers like myself don't realize that when you take a lot of your tows to people you have to drive over a mountain to deliver the job, I'm from Illinois and our state is flat, thx for the video it was great 👍
Casey ,I watch you, Murphy's Diesel,Ron Platt ,Plaza Towing, Everything Auto just to see the various ways that they implement during the recovery work that they do ,in most I believe most are on the same page ,and the most important thing is how as a operator you all think and approach the job . The key must be in how you guys explain the reasons why The good thing is that many towing operators will watch and make comments or suggestions. What I see as the most difficult issue is training the newbies, and how much one has to constantly explain and direct those newbies into clear thinking. And yes we are not there on scene,a view on screen is very different in most cases
It's sad that people also forget that Ron always says there's many ways to count to 10, and the way he did it isn't going to be how everyone did it. The way things work for him are for him and not for everyone.
I can say with quite a bit of certainy that truck is filled with a set of mechanics tools. I helped my friend who's a diesel mecahnic move from kansas to michigan, we used the biggest truck u-haul offers, it was one of the newer ford ones. We had all his mechanics tools and all his personal stuff stuffed into it. I drove the u-haul the entire way and i could tell pretty quicklly we overloaded the thing. We made it, but i dont recommend it. I almost rear-endeded him in his pickup when we came over a hill that had a red light at the bottom. Both feet as hard as i could on the break peddle and it barely came to a stop.
If that's the same impact gun I have just turn it on three instead of that special fourth mode if you don't like it going slow. But it is nice when lug nuts are stuck in the socket. It slows down to give you time to use the stud to yank the lug out of the socket.
