Lived my first 34 years in central tampa . Moved to boring ny and man do i miss fishing ! You oughtta hit up cochroach bay up man . Go back in those channels of mangros . Was my favorite lounder fushing , trout, red, snook . Perfect for your kayak . I can direct you to my old snook and red corners and the deeper flounder pockets .

@@rafarafitaqueloque5001 ok , well damn I just responded the whole thing in the wrong spot . 😂 But ok I'll do it again . So cockroach bay is about an hour from Tampa out right past Ruskin area . Is a smaller road that goes back a few miles and a small boat ramp . I'm sure you can Google it and make quest it or something. Anyway once you get to the ramp you'll be on the wider part of the little channel . If you go to the right it leads out to the bay . If you go to the left there's just nothing but a channel surrounded by mangroves as far as you can see . ( That's where we did most of our fishing ) . So anyway your at the boat ramp . Look to your right , you'll see an open little pondish like area but at the point where it returns to a skinny channel is a little oyster bar right there . Good for red , trout , mangrove snapper etc. that home channel out to the bay is only about 75 feet or so but is decent fishing . Obviously that's where the fish funnel in through . However we did most of our fishing going left from the boat ramp . Once you go down a good little way you'll see it start to widen out a little bit again but take a pretty sharp right turn . Right before that turn it gets deep in the channel part . We would sometimes go off to the shallow left side to anchor a d wade fish . But that was our flounder area . Use a little quarter ounce weight with a 3-4 inch live tiger stripped minnow and we'd rack em up fishing the bottom of that channel hole . We also call that the flying fish spot because of a real funny incident that occurred there that we call the flying fish story . We was tied off on left side as I described ☝️☝️ up there one day and here comes 3 really heavy guys in a small canoe . Like 3 fat 250+ 300 lb guys in a tiny conoe like John boat . The boat was barely chugging it and appeared that one wrong move it would flip over . So they started fishing the other side of that hole and hooked into one of those diving birds . That damn bird was all over the place with one of them trying to reel it in and unhook it . 😂 They got it closed and that bird fought and tried to bite and had that conoe rocking and only God knows how they didn't capsize . 😂. Then my father yelled something along the lines of " that's what they call a flying fish " or something . 😂 So anyway off to the next spot . After it turns off to the right you go down a little ways and it starts to open up a little again . There's another spot that we would anchor and wade fish from the left side throwing in the channel area ...we alsk call tgis the manatee hole because of another funny incident that occured tbere involved a manatee getting scared by me and it scaring the hell out of us by making a huge comotion in the water . 😂 They thought it was a shark frenzy and almost walked on water trying to get back to the boat . 😂 Anyway on the ride side of channel there is a little mangrove island .. I believe it is another little oyster bed and let me tell you when the snook are there , they are a nice little school of them . That's where I hooked my first keeper size snook but it cut me off with gill by taking a dive right by the boat . But yeah they can be thick there . But you with a kayak and artificial, I think you would be in heaven down there . Fish both sides of the channels for endless maze of channel surrounded by mangroves . Or drag a little jig or whatever on the bottom of the channels for flounder . Some decent sized 18 or so inch flounder. Great eating ! Speckled trout , mangrove snapper, red , snook . That's the spot ! Peaceful back there , especially for a kayak , yeah I think you would dig it bro . So I don't get into the subscriptions and don't really care for social media . I only watch RU-vid when I eat or listen to music at work . But if you do make it down there hit me up , id like to see you enjoying yourself out there and hopefully catching some good meals . 👍

@@rafarafitaqueloque5001😂 😂. Yeah dude . It's been close to 3 decades but that was my father's and my spot back in the days . I can't imagine it changing very much . We would cast net our bait from the causeway the day before and get an early start launching a little John boat right at daylight . Though I remember the no-see-ums was really thick at the little beach right there . But yeah someone with a little artificial skill should be able to get em . Or if nothing else just enjoying peacefully paddling along in a mangrove world . 👍 Then with kayak you can even go further back and fit in smaller cannels then we could go . Find you own little honey holes . 👍. By the way I forgot to ask but where was you in this trip ? It almost kinda looked like gandy bridge area for a minute.
