Brandi is such a good soul. Everyone should have a friend like her. Really there for her friend. These type of people are lightworkers and angels among us. 💝
I don't want to make you target you specifically, but your post kind of crystallized some reactions I have had after reading many many posts from the recent Newport event (ie: Joni Mitchell), which led me to listen to this musical clip and read related comments. So, yes, I am taking the opportunity to voice a concern. I have to admit I worry when such hero-like status is given to an artist. Don't get me wrong - Brandi Carlile is an amazing talent and I fully believe that she has this great heart and that she is the type of person to reach out when seeing someone in possible need. BUT. And this is a big 'but' - too often the canonizing that happens of artists such as Brandi neglects to see the real person, who may make mistakes, who may be doing things for reasons the 'fans/adorers' don't see or know, and it also confers a whole bunch of positive attributes that aren't really necessarily hers to own. And lordy lordy, I often find certainly in the USA that if any deviation occurs to this 'hero script', well the take-down is brutal. It is probably more accurate to look at the arc of Brandi much less Wynona or Joni's (or others she has paid homage to like Kris Kristofferson or Dolly Parton or Patti Labelle's) script as a continuum that involves multiple (and huge) talents over the ages and a lucky meeting of the musical minds when they decide to do the thing they love most together (a jam, Newport, Nashville, whatever...) and they encourage each other accordingly. Brandi has tapped into that (her references to Laurel Cannon will attest to this spirit). She does not 'revitalize' per se but she does honour and showcase - and yes, she benefits from such associations because these are huge talents and she is front and centre with them. They are that good, they make it happen, she merely gives them a venue. For example, with Newport, a possible scenario might read like this. She loved Joni's music, wanted to sing it, connected to Joni, started a "jam" with Joni, invited others, thought 'what if' we could showcase this, persuaded Joni who did not necessarily see this as a goal in her later life - and it went from there. So, yes, that is her energy BUT the talent goes beyond her. She tapped into something already keenly there (and something the audiences want). I worry that canonizing artists and energy and spirits like this follow a well-worn script of bringing them down at the first opportunity and perpetuates the notion that older artists have nothing to offer unless someone (new, younger) revitalizes them.
This was Beautiful...Brandi and Wynonna together, really touching. Had to be heart wrenching for Wynonna without Naiomi. But Brandi being beside her again was so supportive and loving ...stunning !🌹
Wynona is together by herself, on her power no one can else influence her only her mom could and now in spirit her mom will always watch over her precious daughter. Brandi is like cheer leader and likes the attention…maybe she’s sincere I don’t know…I’m a long time fan of the Judds so I’m partial and protective.
@@emilychristoff9404 yeah I don't like Brandi. Too weird. I appreciate her being there but it's like it's not about her you know. I hope she's sincere. It's just uncomfortable
Brandi I’ve only been introduced to you in the last few months but I can see that you are a truly wonderful person …we need more of your kind in the world
Brandi grew up listening to the Judds and loved them. Brandi is a unicorn, her superpower is her LOVE for country music. She’s a big beautiful talented gay pulling this world together thread by thread. The love on this stage is pure and beautiful. And they LOVE singing together. 💙
What a dynamic duo!! How awesome to be able to watch this. I just lost a best friend to cancer....... love is STILL alive! This made my day, thank you! 💝
Can't wait to see these two perform together in Grand Rapids MI a week from tonight. Brandi is there for Wynonna, and the crowd will be there for her in a week's time. 💙💪
They are so good together- Brandi helping Wynona to heal. AND Brandi asking Joni Mitchell to sing again at The Newport Festival.(after 53 years) And Joni did well! Brandi made that happen Helping Joni to continue to heal! The other musicians were also terrific and inspiring as well as inspired! Appreciation to you Brandi for your love for your friends- to be there for them and encouraging them to sing and feel the love! ❤️🎼
In an interview Brandi said that they all had no idea Joni would start singing with them at the Festival. From that Joni told Brandi she wanted to sing again so next year they will be singing at the Gorge in Washington State.
Dear Wynonna I feel your pain . I lost my mom two years ago, she was 89 but so young at heart and a very strong woman. She suffered the loss of a son to suicide a husband to ALS and a daughter to cancer and still stayed strong, went through a brain aneurism and still stayed strong. Pneumonia got her . She was my best friend and I miss her dearly. Losing a parent is one of the hardest things we go through in life. It makes you feel alone. Like your safety net is gone. But I know she is with me. Your mom is with you also. She was a beautiful strong woman who raised two beautiful strong daughters. It gets a little easier as time goes by, thinking of all the good memories we had helps. Stay strong, you will get through this. Much love. ❤️
To the Judd family I'm sorry to hear about your mom but she is with u every day so keep the faith alive and keep your singing alive cause this world needs to hear your music throu out the world it is so true music heals people no matter what your going throu Bruce Springsteens music and your music has helped me in so many ways thank u .
