My guy Brandon Aiyuk joins me on this week’s episode. He has had a crazy journey to the league from grinding his way through JUCO to taking off at Arizona State. Why did he turn down an offer from Nick Saban and Alabama and decide to stick with ASU? Who does he think are the top Wide Receivers in the NFL and why does he deserve to be in the top 5 conversation? As a 49ers fan, respectably, Aiyuk is one them. I feel like every year he inches closer and closer into the top 5 best WR in the league atm and I am glad that he's realizing it as well.

He’s not top 5, he’d have to be the number 1 guy on his own offense. He’s been playing good this season but I can tell you right now that defenses aren’t worried about their CB2 being on him.

We cant afford him. We gave Deebo a contract last season and we have too many other more important stars we need to keep. We could do without him as long as Jennings and Bell progresses. He's only doing good because we have a lot of weapons the defenses are more afraid of, such as McCaffrey and Deebo.

Aiyuk has grown into one of the best receivers in the league. After starting out a little shaky, maybe relying a little too much on his natural ability but needing to ramp up his work ethic, he’s certainly come through. Shanahan and his coaches have done a great job helping him succeed, and that’s basically what a coach’s job is.

Aiyuk has absolutely one of the top 5 in the league. He has left nothing on the table. His ability to separate is second to Chase. Top 5 by PFF all season; he's been insanely efficient and I hope Brock feeds him more. He's even getting away with OPI pretty frequently; he's top tier at basically every facet of being a receiver.

I didn’t watch football really until 2020 with a buddy who’s a diehard. It was Aiyuks rookie year, I didn’t know it, but he INSTANTLY became my favorite player. AIYUK the reason I’m a football fan and niner for life

Brandon was Born in Rocklin CA and that is serendipity. Niners use to hold training camp out in Rocklin at Sierra College, My dad would take me and my brother out to see Niners training in the summer. They Practiced there till 1997, Then Brandon was born one year later in 1998. The football gods answered and delivered. Brandon absorbed the blood and sweat that was left on that field from the great Jerry Rice.

Love this conversation. Thanks much! A player interviewing another player and both on the only team I really care about. Great to hear Aiyuk's history from his junior college to college. The Niners had their training camp at Sierra College in Rocklin from 1981 - 1997.
