Brandon Hendricks, the beloved college bound 17 year old basketball star from the Bronx will be greatly missed. The family and community gathered for Brandon Hendricks Homegoing and Memorial Service at The First Baptist Church and at the basketball courts at the Jackson Houses where Brandon would play. Brandon lost his life to gun violence in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx, just a few days after his high school graduation from Monroe High School and just a few days short of his 18th birthday. The basketball star and humanitarian who was cherished by many was considering offers from several Division 1 colleges.
The Reverend Al Sharpton of the National Action Network delivers the Eulogy for Brandon, while tributes and reflections are shared by Brandon's uncle Noel Ellison, NYC Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson, NYC Councilman Andy King, NY State Senator Jamaal Bailey, and Coach Nigel Thompson of the Monroe Eagles.
Bishop Angelo Rosario, Reverend Rebecca Amissah, Reverend Lamont Granby, Elder Alson Farley, Massiata Dansoko, and Dwayne Grayman share readings, selections and more.
Our hearts go out to Brandon's entire family and all the people who know, love and cherish him.

Tears started rolling down my eyes when I saw Brandon's mother trying to look at him one last time when they were closing his casket. She was trying to see him through the tiny crack. I just broke after that. Just as I say, " The love between a mother & son is unbreakable".

The female funeral directors comforting the mother, exemplified true grace and class. They gave her time to mourn, supported her, and escorted her to her seat with elegance. That's something you don't often see with funeral directors, especially at the closing of the casket. They were called to do their work, and it shows.

It takes a special person to be the Coroner, The Funeral Director, Embalmer, and dealing with all family emotions I would have been good at it I guess. I was a Medical Specialist during Vietnam and again Desert Storm. I helped wash quite a few men that came home.

What a sad ending to a life well lived. He had so much potential to make a true difference in his|this world only to be taken by an act of violence. My brother was murdered at 17 due to gun violence too shot 9 times. It’s been 14 years and I still hurt like it just happened. Killers was never caught. His case was never really investigated. Detroit police just let his murder go unsolved. I wouldn’t wish this heartache on nobody, not getting justice is added pain on top of losing your loved one. You never move on, it’s like you’re stuck in that time. It’s so tragic 💔🥺

I recently stubble over his mom page on Instagram. I wanted to know about Brandon. I don’t know why but the way she talks about him, made me wish I knew him. Then i found out his birthday and its not far from mine. Then I found out that he graduated the same year I did and that had me in tears. I feel like I haven’t live life to the fullest, and it hurts knowing that he didn’t get to. I was crying the whole video, because I wish I could of done something (even though Im in a whole nother state). Thats one reason why I feel like kids my age rush to grow up, because life ends quickly now. RIH Brandon. God protect his soul💙

He wasnt smiling, as a Mortician, we put their lips like that after life saving measures are removed. It usually leaves their mouth area in an O as a result of the CPR tube. He absolutely looked beautiful but, hes not smiling. The sign of someone peacefully is in and around their eyes. This is so sad, such a beautiful, talented, smart, kind, promising young black young man. Gone for WHAT? Prayers to his Mom and family.

This broke my heart. So young and had a full life ahead of him. My prayers go out to his mother and sister. Prayers for his team mates because this was so hard for them. I love they wore jerseys with Brandon's number on them. God bless and keep all of you. STOP THE KILLINGS

Hi I’m no one just had to watch the celebration of brandan whom I never knew ,after listening to all the people that loved him and there wonderful stories I felt close to him , I pray for Brandon’s family and friends for peace and understanding , I will meet Brandon one day in our fathers house . This lady minister who sang , she has such a beautiful soul , I could listen to her talk about our Lord all day , she’s so full of the spirit of our Lord ! God bless you all how sad it must be to live in such a dangerous place ,with children whom just see beauty everywhere ,in everthing , it’s just not fair that our good child die from so much gun violence , I’m so sorry fr.canada with love and prayers .
