Rapid fire is one of my favourite martial arts movies. I think the fights are more realistically paced, as opposed to the fight scenes I see in most movies that are over-choreographed and executed as fast as possible.

And the full shots, Man, you could actually see the fight moves! No shaky cam closeups where the actors just wave their hands in front of the camera. That's action!

Rapid Fire was is what The Bourne series would look like if filmed proper... That fight scene in the apartment, the large brawl where he goees from fist to table legs to shotgun...the close corner combat is amazing. Brandon had great charisma, was growing as an actor and had his dad's ferocity and cockyness in the fight scenes. Legend. Thanx for keeping the Legends alive Scott...you have become the curator of this great genre.

Brandon was a better actor with much farther range than Keanu, he would've been brilliant. Of course the part of Neo was very well written and Reeves was enough to make him endearing, to be sure. And, as Scott points out, Brandon probably would've sought out more dramatic roles during that time, as well.

Yeah, he had at least a couple more flms in development. He had a meeting with Stan Lee to do the "Shang Chi" movie back in the 90's for Marvel. There was the script "Simon Says" that would later turn into "Die Hard With A Vengeance" after Brandon died, Mortal Kombat as Johnny Cage, and the sequels to the Crow (if they decided to continue with that story)

Probably the biggest misperception I heard, and I heard it sometimes, when he was still alive, someone saying they thought he was just trying to be like Bruce Lee. Which was 100% wrong. For awhile he stopped doing martial arts or accepting roles for martial art movies growing up, even though he had spent years training. But even after he became known in movies, he continued to turn down roles he felt he got offered because of his father's legacy. I think the crow shows the best, coming from Rapid Fire, that he was a very good actor. He could play different characters, not just himself in different roles.

Neither were Murdered Im.an Extreme fan of both....Bruce overworked himself on Enter Dragon was dehydrated and passed out several times on set from seizures and headaches and taken to the Hospital on May 10th 1973 he was diagnosed with cereal edema and was given Mannitol to reduce the swelling..The night he was at Betty Ting Pei's house he complained of a headache he asked for aspirin and she gave him her prescription of Equagesic with has aspirin and a tranquilizer meprobamate he had an allergic reaction which caused the brain swelling that caused his Death. Brandon death was caused by negligence not premeditated murder but carelessness. The Gun used was loaded with bullets but removed the gun powder so when camera zoomed in the bullets looked real and normal however they forgot to remove the primer which ignite the powder causing the explosion to turn the bullet into a projectile one of rounds fired and lodged in the Barrel when it was Time for the scene they switched to blank rounds which have no bullets but have powder and primer so all that together you have "live" round so when filming the scene he was hit with actual force of a real loaded Gun...Hope this helps

That shows a very different perspective to me. I find the Crow to be one of the most Ontologically advanced movies out there. Like Jacob's Ladder, or What dreams may come. And not depressing. It is dark, but there is light in the darkness in that movie. But it was very related to a comment he made in an interview while making the movie. From Sheltering Sky. "“Death is always on the way, but the fact that you don't know when it will arrive seems to take away from the finiteness of life. It's that terrible precision that we hate so much. But because we don't know, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. Perhaps not even. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless.”

Van Damme's ballet background helped him move with great grace, which made his fights very aesthetic. Brandon Lee, on the other hand, had a Jeet Kune Do background, which stresses practicality over looking pretty (contrary to popular belief), in a fight. Improvisation, such as throwing a tray of silverware into the face of someone with a gun, was something Bruce Lee taught his students, with street fights lacking any rules or referees.

Regarding Brandon not wanting to do martial arts at some point in his life, that's true according to his mother, when he was a teen, maybe a bit earlier, it was difficult for him to go into the Inosanto Academy because it reminded him so much of his dad. Then, when he was making Legacy Of Rage in Hong Kong he was concerned about not trying to be a poor man's copy of his famous father, he wanted to be his own man, to the point where, according to director Ronny Yu, the HK stuntmen hated Brandon because he refused to do the Bruce Lee style action the producers wanted from him (if you haven't yet, I'd recommend listening to the director's commentary track on Legacy Of Rage, interesting stuff ). It's also interesting how the guy who ended up doubling for Brandon after Brandon's death when The Crow was being completed, Chad Stahelski (did I get that name right?), who also doubled for Keanu Reeves in The Matrix movies, has gone onto big success as a director, particularly with the John Wick movies.

If I had to pick one person in Hollywood that was gone too soon and I would have a magic wand for them to live to see their career - that's Brandon Lee

I hear you about the crow. I used to watch it all the time when i was younger, but find it difficult rewatching. Brilliant film no doubt, but reading the behind the scenes and what happened to Brandon will always cast a dark shadow on it. I even got very emotional with the first credits line.

It's crazy how both of this Legends ( Bruce Lee and his son Brandon Lee ) who is the best Action Stars in our Universe was died in a Mysterious way and imagine if Brandon still alive right now he will make a Perfect Neo!, I respect Keanu Reeves because he is the best in what his doing but still Brandon Lee is going to be a Perfect Neo just like Keanu is the Perfect John Wick.

I look at Rapid Fire, and see he had so much potential to have the career his father never enjoyed in Hollywood. What A tragedy.

I love the Lee family, they gave so much to the world. Rapid Fire is one of those that you just don't make anymore . One of a kind ! One-of-a-kind team that worked on that movie is top-notch action people. I heard that Brandon was no momma boy, he earned his ranks in the Inosanto Academy through blood, sweat, and tears. One of the reasons I started martial arts is this man ! RIP to both of them

Brandon Lee’s outlook on fight choreography was make the fight the way the character would fight, not you the person playing the character fights. it’s too bad we don’t get that in many films. Realistic and character based fighting is rare, if it even exists in movie fighting.

Same here. watching him move seemed so natural to him. With the JKD, Kali and Muay Thai training, he was able to have his own style on screen

Brandon lee would have been a top Action Super star there is no question about that period I think he would have been very dieverse in his roles he would have done everything outside of action too I still love him in the crow he was the total package he had it would could have been man we could only image

I saw the Crow opening night, and I remember sitting on my porch afterwards feeling that the world had been robbed by Brandon's loss. I made a weird vow that night; sort of the reverse of what Mike Scott does, that I would never watch it again. I have the movie poster on my wall, with my ticket stub attached to it. I also love Rapid Fire, of course.
