Which part of this was funny to you. Sandler was literally living out the fantasies of him and his other friends (who are rich) being able to put their foot down on the person under them. Make no mistake, adam is in the wrong, this guy is in the right. Also the idea of a scrawny kid being able to knock out a football player? Total power fantasy. Don't get it twisted. Quarterback was in the right. BS contracts exist. The idea that "oh if you played poorly could we renegotiate" they're the moneybags, they 1 don't need to renegotiate, if they would lose the money nothing bad would happen to them, drop in a bucket 2 they already made a good contract because they can hire TEAMS of pro lawyers and managers to negotiate the best contract possible
@@GSMonroeFolkMusic No he will he will because he realized his worth as a worker and is demanding what he is entitled to through his performance. You are a laboring under the delusion that a positive attitude and selfless devotion to a job will magically make you economically secure.
That actually is how it works in most leagues except womens major league soccer iirc, they negotiated a bit smarter imo in that they get benefits/salary guaranteed regardless of how many games they play, albeit a bit less than the men’s league.
What cements this scene for me is that even though his son is probably a multi-millionaire, he still lives in the house he raised his boy in and is wearing the uniform he worked in to provide for his son. That says a great deal about him in 30 seconds of screen time.
This scene will live 3 or 4 generations in my family. Doesn't matter how much time goes by, if I'm with my older brother and cousin, who saw this with me, we quote this everytime were together. Thanks Adam. You might rinse and repeat your movies, but there are some true gems in them. God bless.
My parents were all about building the tension. They would make us wait, all while walking with belt in hand, making sure you could hear the buckle clanging, until they were standing in the doorway, asking us how many WE thought we deserved. If we said anything less than what they wanted to hear, they doubled the original amount.
Bet you love him and miss him. Daddy’s are supposed to whoop our dumbasses. But also love us still. The good ones just don’t beat our asses for nothing and leave us down.
"BIGGEST MYSTAKE OF YOUR LIFES!" I actually quoted that line once when I got laid off from a job. The company went out of business like a month later so it actually helped me get a head start on finding a new job.
The actor who played Kevin's Dad is an absolute riot, I love seeing him pop up in several of Adam's films. Also he's a fantastic Slinky Dog in the recent Toy Story films, he took over the role after the unfortunate death of Jim Varney back in the early 2000's. When he was recording his lines for the first time in the production of Toy Story 3, one of the guys who was working on the film said "Jim would be very proud of you" and he broke down in tears. He definitely did a fantastic job as the character because I didn't even recognize him in the slightest, glad to see him still doing some movies as of me typing this comment.
Depends how you say it. In this case I dont even know why they put this scene in the movie. The QB was beyond in the right. Lol. Adam Sandler must've seen some quarterback NFL player negotiations from his friends who owned football teams and had some anger built up over it.
"You can do anything you want, but I suggest you change your attitude or no one's going to want to work with you." Man, Adam Sandler can put some nuggets out when he wants to.
zero nuggets, lol what attitude, QB is 100% correct. no idea if his contract was BS or not, but 1 bs contracts absolutely exist because its very easy to take advantage of a poor person without a team of lawyers and screw them over financially 2 if he plays super well he absolutely should renegotiate. also in the real world the QB would've been gone in 1 second to any other team. this would've been a catastrophic decision. there's like 28 teams in NFL. lol. most of them would take a great QB no problems at all.
Well most owners don't get involved in managing the team and players these days they hire someone to do that but if you fuck with the owner or any of the high up managers or president they will hit back without a doubt maybe not physically but for sure mentally and verbally
QB is right tho. 1 bs contracts where the young poor naive player is taken advantage of absolutely exist 2 if you play well you absolutely can renegotiate. oh and if you play poorly you already "renegotiate" when the team 1 releases you (this is literally renegotiation lol) 2 the contract runs out. the team never even hires you for a long contract UNLESS it knows you're a proven quantity.
The ending with the dad is lowkey how parent teacher conferences be sometimes. Parents voice gets low, kid starts shaking, and I'm in there like "its about to go down"
I love this scene. I remember the days when it was smarter to listen to and obey the correction of an adult, any adult, than to have my parents find out.
Humor aside (its legendary), this is a good lesson to consider. Unless you are invaluable (even if you are), you'll get fired for that kind of attitude. Both businesses and employees must consider proper ethics so both sides can profit.
I had a very similar experience. Except it was from a Mexican father. I got in trouble a lot in school and my dad would always say "not to worry ma'm I'll make sure he understands". The few spanish words I hated to hear because I knew what it meant.
Vince Barry Well, it was more of something out the circumstance of searching for cats during a god damn fire. Also, Deeds apologized for his usage of foul language. (Not that think think foul language is a bad thing, but to each their own.)
My parents beat my my ass for screwing up when i was a kid, but never traumatized me. lol I dont smoke, drink, or do any drugs of any kind, and live out on my own. lol
@@pcgameboy8407 haye to disagree with you but my parents never hit me, ever. Now I smoke, drink, take drugs, struggle to keep a job longer than 6 months. Oh wait, I am agreeing with you.
Carlos Ramos If you reckon so, this is even better - www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/04/05/graphic-dad-brutally-whips-daughters-as-punishment-for-twerking-video/
Just like when we were kids, it didn’t matter what punishment you received at school. It was the sheer terror of what would happen to you after you got home from school when your parents found out.😂
@ RIDDICK0911: Nothing to fear? What about being kicked out of the house and forced to live in the street? What about being cut off from an inheritance, let alone having a dad who will never speak to you again? Take your head out of your ass.
"I ain't even gonna touch a football until you get off your fat rich asses and renegoitate my bullshit contract." That scene was hilarious. Plus the part with "NO DADDY NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
I did not know you shouldn't use foul language in front of a lady until I saw this movie. A few years ago a crazy homeless guy used foul language in front of me when I refused to sell him alcohol. Another customer ran out after him, fists ready to teach him a lesson. Thankfully his wife stopped him. She then explained to me he gets really mad when people curse in front of women. I thanked him for being a gentleman.
