When it comes down to it, it's quite the timeless formula. But it really only works with some measure of nostalgia atached. That's why the Nostalgia critic stopped working when he started reviewing more contenporary movies. Brandon doesn’t exactly have that limitation but still presents this narrative of "cult movies". Movies that aren't usually considered classics but are still remenbered fondly by some. Which is why so many of his reviews are about movies that once were rentals. It's an interesting paradox, how something It's only made timeless by being tied to an especific time, but not made dated by that tie.

@@crpgdungeonsdragonsnight Its very hard to know how long it would take for the system to collapse following a nuke war since we haven't had one.(yet)The best assumption is the moment currency loses any value and trade with regions which are still functional stops entirely. People that work in government condition their loyalty on whether they get paid or not. In hard currency. Once surviving countries declare the canuck dollar in this case as being worthless trade stops altogether and canadian authorities would be forced to use something else. This trickles down to your average cop eventually. So we can assume the first to bail will be within a month the last to bail in about 6 months once the barter system collapses. There's a reason our ancestors invented money barter is a horribly inneficient system of trade.

Brandon, if you haven’t reviewed it already, review “Zombie Nightmare.” It’s a Canadian zombie movie with Adam West and Tia Carrere. They tried to set it in the U.S., but it’s pretty obvious that it’s a Canadian production (ads for Canadian beer and Canadian English appear all over the movie). It was on MST3K, and has the stench of expired back bacon, with a drunk and obviously not caring Adam West.

Thanks for the memories, Brandon. I remember living in the dorms at Cannon AFB in New Mexico and taking my bike across the highway to a hole-in-the-wall video store. I rented this and "Born American" on VHS to take back for a weekend double feature. Your review mirrored my thoughts. It was interesting in a weird sort of way but didn't quite land on my list of nostalgic must-see's. Speaking of which, "Born American" might be a good fit for one of your reviews. It's also quite the wacky film.

You know you’re in Deep Trouble when another Film that uses the same Score is FAR BETTER.

As a kid the part when the body part came back down the sand from outside that freaked me out. I saw it again last year. I still like it

I remember seeing the video cover back in video stores in the 1990s and I always wondered if the movie lived up to it. Thanks for reviewing it @brandon tenold!

I picked this up from a discount video store back in the day. It was in the Zombie section, so imagine my disappointment when it failed to live up to the cover *and* there were no zombies!

For those who don't know, Maury Chaykin is best known for playing Jimmy the computer nerd(friend to Matthew Broderick's character) in War Games and for playing Mr. Tipton, the guy who can make grits in 5 minutes, in My Cousin Vinny. As for this movie, I watched it back in the day and thought it was cheesy schlock back then. Even more so now. And I do like you mention Degrassi since Kate Lynch who played Jordan was on that show.

As for the "90s X-Men voices" thing, you'll probably run into a lot of that with 80s and 90s Canadian movies, especially ones made in Toronto. The 90s X-Men cartoon was made in Toronto and cast using Toronto's Theater and TV acting pool because it was cheaper than casting LA Voice Actors, and with the huge amount of characters in it practically every Toronto stage and TV actor got a bit part in there here and there. Videodrome from 1983 had at least 2 X-Men VAs in it as well.
