I was lucky enough to see this film during its blink-and-you-missed-it theatrical run, and the audience at my local Connecticut grindhouse, a pack of drunks and junkies who were used to all manner of cinematic trash, could not believe what they were seeing as it played.
Rented it probably a week later as an impressionable sixth-grader, so you can imagine my reaction. Couldn't watch Night Court until the 90's when it was in syndication.
Fun fact: The movie was directed by Jay Schlossberg-Cohen, whose other movie - "Cry Wilderness" - was riffed on the most recent season of MST3K. I'd love to see Jonah and the bots riff on this one. But considering all the violence and nudity, sadly, I doubt they'd do it.
the full song was one of the sickest groovy solos ever put to strings~ And it's a pity the Dance with Me band got wiped out in the train crash, they were gonna play Idiot Control!
Whenever Brandon get's to Godzilla's Revenge, I hope it's a giant collab with AlextheHunted, Decker Shadow, Dr. Wolfula, Dark Corners Reviews and Gojifan trying to save Brandon's sanity
I remember buying the film in a collection along with Flesh Eating Mothers, The Nest and Curfew. And I was quite pissed afterwards that I spent money on it.
Well, the last train-ride-from-hell movie you reviewed (Horror Express) was actually pretty scary and enjoyable. And this one is... well, it's enjoyable!
First, the band at the beginning of the first story IS completely horrifying. Imagine having to sit through eternity (or even an hour) of that... uuughhhh!
I've seen Cataclysm before. They added all those weird Claymation demons to this anthology version (and I assume that silly Wasp in Dark Side of Love as well). The deaths are a lot more simple in the original. Although Cameron Mitchell still dies via terrible stock footage explosion in that one too.
Saga Saga you are correct sir. I saw it once from one of those “50 sci-fi movies for $20” packs. I totally forgot Cameron Mitchell was in that though. I did remember Richard Moll and the Dr Mengele / Devil though. Funny they tried to make a strange movie even stranger.
@@cwgodzilla That's where I saw it too, as The Nightmare Never Ends. When I say watched, mind, I meant started. Thank you Saga Saga, for that tidbit about the new stop motion, now I don't have to go back and finish it.
Yeah, I watched the full Gretta movie after watching Night Train to Terror today, and was really shocked at how those scenes were different. Still the same guy getting shocked, but without all the gore!
Horror Express. When that was shown on the TV here in the UK, it scared the crap out of my young self. No sleeping without the lights on that night and no mistake! Think it was the white eyes thing that did my nut in. Watched it recently and still found it quite creepy. That haunting whistle in the main theme is, even now, relatively chilling. Although, Telly Savalas' non-existent Russian Cossack accent is superb for balance. I've heard that it was loosely based on the short story Who Goes There? Which became the basis of John Carpenter's remake of The Thing.
this is the weirdest stop motion I have seen in a long time. the movements are great, but the figures look like they were made by a gradeschooler out of clay. it's still quite neat.
This is why the 80's was such an interesting time in the history of film. Producers didn't care about anything but making money and doing coke. Story. Coherence...tone...none of that was important as long as you had money and coke 🤔🤣
49 videos in on this binge watch as a new sub and seriously this weird mess of incomprehensibility has done me in - and I LOVE IT! Will watch more now. :)
Listen to the song lyrics. Remember how parents once thought pop music was the devil's tunes? The phrases 'dance with the devil' (dance with me) and 'the devil makes work for idle hands' (you've got nothing to do).
The only reason the band was in the movie was because the singer was the screenwriter's nephew. Believe or not, the screenwriter was thrice nominated for an Oscar and won once.
Thank you for reviewing this film, this beautiful garbage needs to be seen more, it is bad horror film perfection and in my top 5 anthology horror films
Was beginning to wonder if this was the inspiration for Blane the Mono from the Dark Tower series. That huge claymation wasp challenge certainly is reminiscent of that giant wasp creature from The Mist film. The one that didn't sting that wacky zealot woman.
I'm seeing a potato masher, a frying pan flipper, a really long fork, and a ladle. Instruments of torture not on screen include tongs, a whisk, a mixing spoon, a pizza cutter, and an icecream scoop. XD
@6:47 a spatula, soup ladle, potato masher, couple sauce pans, and i think a strainer in the Richard Moll torture scene..... Was this the original "Hells Kitchen " idea pitch?
I Got This Movie on One of Those Bargain Bin Classics Collection DVD Sets, and When I First Saw it I was Like OMG This Flick is Just Dripping with '80s!
Just stumbled across this movie on Tubi. It’s messed up. I came on YT to see if anyone has done a review on it. I’ve watched quite a few 80s horror movies that are very mediocre, but this one, especially the last segment was truly unsettling
Did any one else hope to see a quick cut scene of Brandon dancing to the opening music video? then back to the music video, then back to Brandon just sitting on his couch looking confused again. No mention of it.. we just imagined it, it never happened..
I know I've just commented but noting your Atari garb, I've just come up with a joke. I say, I say I say, what is a pirates favourite videogame? Answer: Yarrrs Revenge.
If you liked this movie you ought to check out Spookies from 1986, that too is frankenstein'd together out of two totally unrelated horror movies, though that one doesn't even try to separate them into small stories.
This movie is easy to explain as the answer is in the title song... 'Everybodys got something to do...Everybody but you!" So sit in your seat and waste away your life.
Fun fact all the stop motion parts in this movie are not apart of the actual movies that the segments are from But that was probably obvious but it just makes the movie better honestly 😂
I didn't immediately recognize the name of the movie, but the band playing is unforgettable. A friend bought this on dvd, and with a night of bad movie binging we watched it. As soon as the band started playing I lamented, "I'm afraid we will see them a lot.. you don't pay for a song that terrible and not use it"
