"If you want the girl next door -- then go next door!" One of the many great lines in this song, and sung so fervently that you know it comes from the heart.
"My house and my mouth and my mind get kind of trashy. I've never been to jail but hell I wouldn't put it past me." I"M PRETTY SURE BRANDY IS LIVING IN MY MIND! Those lyrics hit the nail on the head! Lord, I love this girl and her skills!
I don't understand why she is not given her due credit. brilliant song writer and equally good singer. It my dream to meet her and write a song with her
Quentin Fernandez it’s because she’s a lesbian, unfortunately. She came out and didn’t give a shit but the music industry wasn’t where it is now. Everyone is more accepting now, but not back then. I agree; she’s one of my favorites!
Brandy is finally starting to get her due, long overdue as it is. The Bay Area Reporter piece this week on Melissa Carper (another lesbian singer-songwriter) specifically mentions that things are better in country music now (2021) than when Chely Wright and Ty Herndon came out and their careers suffered for it.
#BRANDYCLARK #BIGDAYINASMALLTOWN You women of country speak your minds. You don't tolerate no foolishness. Your music appeals to me lady. Keep telling it like it should be 😀👍👍👍🎸🪗🎻🥁🎹🎸🧡💚💙💖💜🎸❤️
Brilliant! I want to play this song at home every night! And I love the Marsha Brady/Maureen McCormick story too! Brandy deserves much more attention! Such an artist! I'd rather hear her sing than most of today's so-called female country "stars"!!
Brandy Clark is a great singer. I honestly can't understand why she isn't more popular...women do have a hard time in country music though. There are big names in music (Ex: Carrie, Miranda) but the less popular female singers go unnoticed. It's really a shame that music as good as this isn't a big hit. With all that said, this song definitely great! Wish it was more popular!
Played this loudly as my ex was packing her shit to get the f outta of my house after a 7 year toxic relationship! LOVE LOVE LOVE and still jamming loudly a year later on an often basis! Thank you!
The fact that this woman's music isn't more popular speaks volumes about the taste in music, or lack thereof, of today's younger generations. David Crosby said is best, years ago, when he used the term "shallow as a birdbath" to describe the "music" of the likes of Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, et al...
It's like walking into a low class very sleezy bar. You see women.. no not ladies. Smoking and drinking. Scoping the men in the place out. Looking for someone to go home with. No. Not ladies..this is that kind of song.
#BRANDYCLARK #BIGDAYINASMALLTOWN You be bringing it. Lady, you speak your mind. I like a plain spoken woman. We should be friends. The music is fantastic. Your lyrics are always right on 😀👍👍👍🎸🎹🥁🎻🪗🎸❤️💜💖💙💚🧡🎸
this will go up the charts, awesome song. If Underwood would have sung it it would be top 5. Brandy doesn't have the name yet keep putting out songs like this and people will know her. Love this song.
joe Fal it would have been way up if Carrie sung it... but she's Linda the girl Brandi is talking about Lol. wouldn't make a lot of sense for Carrie to sing it. Brandi kills it tho!
This is something I will never understand. This is one of those rare songs that hit you like a ton of bricks the first time you hear it! This is the most underrated song in decades. I don't understand I guess the politics of big business in the country music world. Should have been a cross over as well. Its tiresome as hell to have one song after another about a girlfriend, cutoff jeans, money makers shakin on the tailgate. Vanilla songs is what I call em, cookie cutter songs to keep you name out there. And they suck.
872, 063 views and only 6.9k likes? I don't give a shit about the 373 that disliked, this lady is good at what she is doing, give her some love. BTW I am a Metal Head, and I like this young lady's work.
This works in a Big Way. Your voice is strong and musical and you sing with a subdued passion that makes your voice all that more compelling. Your voice has a stunning array of beautiful colors. You voice is soft, smooth and silky but has a nice edge to it. It flows like honey. Fantastic! I am pressing the like button right now!
Your style in Country Music it is more elevate, have something different, your voice have something particular, but great, your look are very clever, a beautiful Lady
I just her on my XM on the Jimmy Buffett channel and I am now hooked on her and her music and I'm not a country fan. What a great talent!! I'm making a separate playlist with just her music!
Batool Abbasi country radio doesn't play country music anymore. They play shallow pop-rap songs (sung by a southern accent) that illustrate the same, redundant topics we hear on pop radio; sex, alcohol, the occasional dirt road to make it sound authentic.
I love my rock and roll, but came across this tune while flipping through my radios stations in my truck one day, and went out and bought the CD that day, Brandy ROCKS !!
I like this song, and I gotta admit, when I first heard this on the radio I thought this was Reba lol she has a uncanny sound to her and it's damn impressive.
Here's a great big "Thank you" to Salon for introducing me to Brandy Clark. Since reading their feature of her earlier today, I've looked up Clark's lyrics online and hit RU-vid to find out things for myself. I now have yet another amazing songwriter to admire and insipre me to be a better songwriter. And yes, another RU-vid channel subscription. Damn, this is a great song.
I was completely unfamiliar with Brandy Clark till I heard them play this song on the radio today. I think I just became her biggest fan. This song kicks ass. She is one hell of a singer. And she's hot as hell too. OH! Did I mention she's hot? Lmao.
