Would love love love more Brandy reactions. Her voice has only gotten better with time and age. I would strongly recommend “Angel In Disguise”, “Full Moon”, “When You Touch Me” and her Afrodisiac era
R&B music production from the mid to late 90's was just perfection to me. The music sounded polished and smooth but still with real, non-autotuned voices.
🔥 Good eye, that is Mekhi Phifer from Clockers! You should react to both if their debut albums, Monica "Miiss Thang" starting with "Don't Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days)" and then "Like This and Like That"! Brandy "Brandy" starting with "Baby" and then “I Wanna Be Down” the remix! TFS!
This song was Inescapable especially during The MTV music video days & TRL . Both amazing singers. Brandy singer /actress and of course older sister of Ray J . Now Monica, who was signed at around age 12 is a Phenomenally Talented Vocalist. Her Label wasn't sure how to market her at 1st , because her tone and voice sounded wayyy more mature than her actual age. Once she did Debut around 14 years old. Her 1st single, Just One of Them Days(Don't take it personal) catapulted her into the limelight. Her next single (Why I Love you So Much) continued her rise to fame that would eventually lead to this Grammy winning Duet.
IMO Both Brandy and Monica’s best music came AFTER their “peak”. Brandy’s Full Moon and Afrodisiac has some of the lost experimental and ahead of its time music, production, and vocals. She and Rodney Jerkins are a match made in heaven. And Monica’s After The Storm and Still Standing has some of the most raw and honest lyrics and vocals. I listen to these albums still to this day.
Monica and Brandy were the only two chosen by BET to do their Whitney Houston tribute at the BET AWARDS. Monica performed I Love the Lord and Brandy followed with I'm your baby tonight. Monica and Brandy were Whitney's ONLY industry daughters. and the Industry knew it. Monica- I love the lord - live ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6rnHxwtEAN8.html
While this is true, Whitney was a HUGE fan of Aaliyah. While Whitney was only one of her influences (it was clear Sade was among the biggest influences, along with Janet), Aaliyah should be mentioned as well. They both cite Aaliyah as opening the doors for R&B/Pop teen girls to get signed.
Nowadays they are cool with each other, but Monica actually punched Brandy on the face during the 1998 VMA's right before their performance and it's clear they're both mad as hell.
They recorded another song together called “It All Belongs to Me” in 2012. It was good to see them together again even though they tend to keep their distance from each other.
For more Monica, I suggest So Gone, For You I Will, Trust (with Keyshia Cole), and Love All Over Me :) Brandy has an amazing discography too, this song isn’t near her best.
Ooo I think a good one to react to is Shakira She Wolf video. Really funky off beat song. Also No Doubt Hella Good and Gwen Stefani What You Waiting For
I don’t remember the video being so terrible. I like early Brandy a lot and Monica’s first album. I believe she was 12 when her first album was recorded.
