This procedure worked perfectly on my 15+ year old 8975. I upgraded the battery from 1500 mAh to 2300 mAh, cleaned out 15 years worth of gunk, and it runs like new.

Thank you for the upload. Most informative...flux pen, different temperature solder tips, cheap Chinese solder, all stuff I was not fully aware of. Purchased a Braun 7505 recently from a second hand shop, batteries were almost dead. With your video I now understand how to replace the batteries. One can basically learn anything from RU-vid videos. I love repairing older equipment as opposed to throwing it out and buying new stuff.

RU-vid is, when a german guy has to visit an American site, on how to fix a german shaver. Love it. Thanks.

This video was EXACTLY what I needed, thank you! You explained the process very well, so I was able to replace the batteries in a short amount of time. I have very little experience using a soldering iron, and I was able to do it successfully, so anyone with a little free time on their hands should be able to do it. It feels great to fix something rather than throwing it out and buying new. Thanks again! :)

Great job putting this instructional video together! I have the same razor and was contemplating changing the batteries in it about 5 years ago and just never got around to it. Well, I finally had some down time and found your video. I had everything in my toolbox except the batteries which I ordered for about $10 from Amazon. It took me about an hour from beginning to end. WOW!!! I have a new razor! Hopefully it will last me another 16 years. Thanks again!!!👍👍👍

Just replaced the batteries on my at least 15 year old shaver and it works perfectly. I have 3 newer Brauns and honestly this old gal shaves just as close as those newer ones do. Glad I didn't toss this so long ago!

awesome...had this shaver for over 20 years and it was excellent. But the batteries were not holding the charge. I bought replacement batteries with the tabs and I'll be using the video to replace mine. Thanks

Thanks! Worked just like the video. I had to trim the leeds down a little as they were too wide for the board. The solder sucker works great! Thanks for the recommendation.

Great reference. Be super careful however on the bottom terminals to avoid solder spill. I went over just a smidge and it meant I couldn’t actually turn the shaver off!!! 🤣🤪

Good video. I also learned about the value of a flux pen (on my bucket list already) and that Weller have different ratings on tips (although my Weller TC Station has presettable temperatures.) Thanks for this. I'm going for tagged cells though!

Great tutorial. Not any battery though; NiMh 1800 mah with tabs are preferred (available on Ebay, myself got it there). Higher capacity battery are reported to confuse the on-board computer logic.

Apart from saving the materials from the landfills the 7526 had a 'random' foil pattern that works excellent for my facial hair; actually have the newer Series 7 with the hexagonal/honeycomb modular pattern and it grabs and pulls. Dug out this old one to find out why it worked so well and I suspect its because the foil is both recessed plus close up inspection of the foils will reveal it has random* perforations

Many thanks I've got a 7790 which I think can be handled the same way. It really is scandalous that for just a dead battery most people have to either replace their shaver. What an incredible waste of this planet's resources. Governments should pass laws that force manufactures of shavers and toothbrushes to make it easy to replace batteries.
@DavidGetling
@DavidGetling 3 года назад
The operation on my 7790 was a success. But there are a couple of points to note. While I was able to buy batteries with tabs I needed to file them down to get them through the circuit board holes. Also as the video points out you do need a good size bit on your soldering iron, and if, like me, your soldering skills are very rusty then you may find it hard to produce nice soldering. What I did worked, but I'm pretty ashamed of my soldering and won't be too surprised if it eventually fails.

Thank you for the video. I disassembled mine for cleaning because the slide switch was not fully functional. Can't say much for German engineering since the thing was absolutely full of whiskers. It really should be sealed or shielded better given its intended use. Oh no thank you again

Great video but would it have been easier to cut or de-solder the old battery contact and re-solder it using the old contact instead? See 6:18 for a clear view of the contact.
@touche9239
@touche9239 3 года назад
I think the problem is that the original contacts are tack-welded to the cells.

Why doesn't Braun just make these things so the batteries snap in, like most everything else until some cell phone makers solved their battery problems by sealing the things together with glue. I've worked out most carpentry problems I've had from having one hand paralyzed by using various clamps, vices jacks and power tools, but soldering isn't something I've figured out a workaround for yet so haven't bought any tools for that in about 40 years, and that was just plumbing not circuit boards like several friends of mine in the Navy used to do. But now at least I know what's inside it and what does work so will think on it for a couple years as Io have a spare I bought 15 years ago of a similar but newer model as the charge and clean stand of the 7000 series had a plastic part that kept breaking so have been using the 7526 with the cord most of the time and cleaning and lubing by hand. Mine is 26 years old now give or take a few months and just stopped charging the batteries yesterday, but the current is still running through it with the cord attached so will keep as a spare if have to do some traveling or spent a couple months in a hospital again though I'm getting a bit too cheep to spend time in a hospital anymore. Good DIY video though, if had the tools and use of my left hand would fix that little problem in the morning now!

Awesome, thanks for posting this. Great work by the way. I found mine up in the attic I put it away about 8 years ago and forgot about it. Well i charged it up, powered it up, and the motor runs pretty low. when i insert the power cord, it runs like a champ. so i think my batteries are bad. I will need to replace them as well. is it true if you use batteries that are over 1700mA that the firmware on this device would be confused and shut the razor down ? I see you used 2500mA did you have any kind of issues? are you able to reset the frimware some how ?

Anyone's razor not turn off? Button not letting slide return back to shut razor off?
@DeutschlandGuy
@DeutschlandGuy 4 года назад
@@billyostendorf8044 Hi Billy. I had the same problem today out of the blue. This is the first issue I've had with the unit since I bought it new in 2002! (Today is 8 April, 2020.)... But ya... suddenly it would not shut off. The slider seemed to be stuck and would not slide all the way down to the off position. Luckily I found Boffin's video here on battery replace... So with the raiser humming away at full speed, I managed to use this video to take it apart. Once I got down to where I could remove the batteries, it finally stopped running, of course. I notice the mechanism for the sliding switch is on the opposite side of the unit than the batteries. I can clearly see all the moving parts but I can't figure out what is keeping them from working properly. So I am wondering if you ever got yours to stop running and if you could fix the slider mechanism so it would turn on and off. I wanted to as Boffin about it, even going to his referenced blog site (a Wordpress site) but he doesn't list an email address there. Any assistance (tips) you could give on getting the switch slider to work again would be greatly appreciated. Or... if you happen to have Boffin's email address, I could try there too. I really love this raiser and would love to get it running again. RJ

Great video, thanks. I've tried to replace the batteries on 7680 which comes with a digital display. After 10 to 20 mins charge it overheats and "temp!" displays on the digital display. I've tried this with 2500mAh, 1900mAh, 1500mAh and 1200mAh batteries, same outcome. I wonder what could be wrong! Any ideas?

I installed the battery’s and plugged it in for a charge. Charging light does not come on and the shaver gets warm
@Boffin55
@Boffin55 2 года назад
A couple of things to check, make sure you have the batteries the right way around, if you're looking at the shaver with the connector at the bottom, the left battery is positive on the top, and right battery is negative on the top (obviously different than the bottom). Second, make sure there isn't a short between the connector at the bottom and the bottom of the battery, if there is put a little tape between the two. Lastly, on the top battery, make sure you haven't blobbed the solder, it's easy to short out one of the contacts to another that it shouldn't connect to.
