As a kid, I always thought of Merida to be relatable since I never really wanted a boyfriend, nor was I attracted to anyone at all, but she made me feel normal. I just think that it was very nice to see that she didn't need to get married to have a happy ending.

I was so incredibly in love with Brave when i was a kid. Merida has always been amazing imo, i think she's an absolute badass and incredibly resolve in her fight against the forced marriage (I'm aroace btw)
Wait, why are people saying she's 'evil'? I mean, she did turn her mom into a bear, but she didn't know that pastry would've turned her into a bear. Merida thought that the pastry would make her mom change her mind about Merida getting married. I see that as an accidental causing more problems thing, not an evil thing.
I always loved Merida as a kid, she was my favorite Disney princess and she still is now. I always found her relatable and I love her character. She is an AroAce queen and she's the one of the reasons why I'm AroAce myself.

I should have known I was an aromantic when I first saw this because I remember agreeing with Merida throughout the entire movie. Then again, I didn't know aromantic was a thing back then.

I hate that many put the heterosexual flag as something off black and white (and I love black and white) I am aromantic and asexual, but still I see the contempt you have for them, how curious that everything is so lively except that flag.
Okay, hear me out. I think Merida isn’t necessarily aroace; she just doesn’t want one of these dumb dudes. Her story is more about dealing with sexism than about being aroace. A woman can be against marrying a sexist idiot with fragile masculinity but still be straight. I always thought of it as her just not being attracted to these particular men, but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be attracted to an actually decent guy. But in my mind, Elsa is definitely aroace. Her story isn’t about sexism, and there’s nothing really keeping her from finding someone, which means there must be some other reason the writers didn’t give her a partner. I like to think it’s because she just doesn’t experience that attraction.
