When I had my stroke, I remember some people who would make fun of me and being brave was all a choice and it made me stronger for it! People would laugh at the way I talked, the way I walked and even threatened me when I was weak (physically) well now I'm doing parkour, martial arts, photography, artwork, quotes and just ran 10kms while skipping. So the point is this, being brave and having love is so important, it's the fuel in being victorious when everything around you is saying it's not possible!

Just heard an interview with Sarah Bareilles on CBS Sunday morning. She said she wrote this song for a gay friend encouraging him to come. I find it ironic that a group form BYU is singing this coming out anthem!

I am a 55-year-old lover of Vocal Point. This song is twice as good as the original singer. I prefer this version over hers. Keep up the good work and keep the good music coming. Love you guys!! Getting through anything tough or painful in your life is being brave. Being afraid of something and doing it anyway is also bravery. I love this song and the image of Vocal Point and the camaraderie of the group. I could see the conviction that you had singing the song and I'm sure that you've had to be brave! I've listened to this many, many times. Keep singing!

I have listened to this song all day and love it more each time. The bass is the bomb! There is so much talent here AND that it is all a cappella is beyond amazing! I am a teacher and have played it for all of my classes today. My students keep saying I got that song stuck in their head. LOVE IT!

The lead soloists voice is incredible and so high with a chest voice. I can't get over that man. Just amazing. Would love to train my voice up that high but dunno if that's possible. Most comments are about the bass, but guess I don't focus as much there since I can do the same thing.

Thanks so much man! That's me, Scott Shattuck, and it took me quite a while to work up to that. Live in concert we sang it a half-step higher, and I often had to switch to a belt-y falsetto because it just got SO high haha. In any case, I now do an a cappella channel with my wife, Scott & Ryceejo (the one I'm commenting from). I'd love it if you checked us out!

I came across early this morning as my boys were getting ready for school. I was inspired to share with them and asked them to be Brave today. On the way to school we talked about how we could be brave....we all have something that is hard for us, especially saying no to those who are pressuring us to do something against our values. My boys are just barely teenagers or soon to be teens, so being brave to peer pressure is important right now. Brave is the word for our week and something we will be discussing as much as possible. Growing up it was hard for me to speak up, at home, church or anywhere actually. I remember the day I was Brave....when my oldest began Kindergarten and a Room Mom was needed for the classroom. I had to talk myself into it, but so glad I did it...now I can speak up with being scared to death. My brave is to begin losing weight that I need to lose. I have been scared to take that first step, but I am inspired to do so because of this song by you. Thank you!

The song may have been inspired by that situation, but who's to say it can't apply to people who need to be brave for very different reasons? Maybe these "poor BYU boys" are very aware of Sara's inspiration in writing this song, but have chosen not to limit the message of the song to one set of circumstances.

Ella Romney She was probably diggin their awesome voices, etc. However given her passion for gay rights, she may have also been somewhat perplexed about the fact that Mormons were singing the song - since Mormons believe that homosexuals should not act on their impulses. The Mormon belief about gays is tantamount to eternal sexual torture for a gay person. Sad! If Sara is a deep thinker and was presented with the thick irony of the situation she would probably have taken pause..

In response to your question of three years ago (what did you do that is brave?)....I got out of bed today. I was DONE. OVER. Not suicidal but....there was nothing. It was 5 pm and pouring rain. I made myself look at my emails (anything to connect with ANYTHING)after lying still for over an hour and feeling the most overwhelmed by life that I think I have ever been, and there was a notification from VP about....something. I don't really recall getting one from VP before. Well, it led me to you at one of the darkest, heaviest moments that I can recall. It wasn't this song, but one led to another and well.....I got up. You were sent. I followed and found the way out. I pray, but don't always 'get' prayer. I know though, that sometimes the help does come quickly. I used to think of myself as brave, now I know that brave really comes when there is nothing left and you lie down and die a little....and then somehow....you crawl back to your knees, and then your feet. God is found in music. And he uses email.

On my first day on campus (16th Sep) before I had gone to any of my classes I saw you perform this song live (supposedly for the first time). Your energy was outstanding! This became my fight song thanks to the byu acapella vocal point guys, as I only listen to KLove and am not well versed in today's music. I recently left a very abusive relationship, and it is unimaginable how one in such situations looses their self worth. They stay silent out of fear of what may come. I liten to yalls version numerous times a day, and today in taco bell dancing queen by Abba came on, and asked my 5 year old if she wanted to dance, and just stared at me. Lord knows I can't dance. I'm comparable to Elaine from Seinfeld, but you know what? I stood up in that taco Bell and Elaine danced my booty off to dancing queen. It's the first time in a long time 4 years since the real TORI Came out. Couldn't have Done it without yall this song and Christ. Thank yall.
