Ming is a male. When ZYX (Zheng Yu Xing) and CC (Chen Chen) saw the MING poster, CC was stunned. ZYX said “you now owe me a secret” because he just revealed his deepest secret to her (that he is gay). ZYX’s father already knew about this. He comforted CC’s parents that “my son wouldn’t do anything to your daughter” because he knew his son is not fond of girls. Eventually Chen Chen said she would also tell ZYX a secret, and her secret was that she has loved him for two years. I feel the kiss is ZYX’s way to reciprocate CC’s love, but sadly he couldn’t love her. He said to her it would be good if I could fall in love with you (but he couldn’t). In the end they realised that they need to be brave, to accept who they really are, to follow their hearts and chase their dreams. CC accepted her parents’ divorce, picked up her studies, had good results and went to university. They remain friends after three years. ZYX’s father slapped him, I couldn’t understand why he would do that, and sadly this cause ZYX to lose his hearing ability in his left ear. Maybe because of guilt and regret, ZYX’s father allowed ZYX to chase his dream and became a DJ (DJ XYZ as he wrote on his exam paper) instead of sending him to study abroad. He became a DJ amidst his disability, he must have worked very hard to succeed. I’m interested in the relationship between ZYX and Ming, whether Ming ever loved ZYX or just treated him as a toy, ripping him off as a child/minor. ZYX would be under 18 when he had that relationship with Ming.

I saw an interview with one of creators of the movie and the main female lead, they said that Ming does not have a face because the idea was to show that Ming is like the future that ZYX wants for himself - to be a famous DJ. In my opinion ZYX cannot be gay because he did not rejected Chen Chen, he just said: "I'm not ready for new relationships (with a girl) right now, because I still think of Ming" Regarding the gender of Ming, I have seen the movie in different languages and depending on language in what the movie is translated there is said that Ming is she or no gender revealed. Regarding the Zyx's secret, it perfectly can be the fact that his crash is 8 years older famous DJ woman. It was quite clear that he as high schooler could not permit anybody know it.
