I have pretty fond memories of this game, but I was also one of those poor kids who didn't have a memory card, and tried finish the game in one sitting on a rental disk; don't think I got very far either (probably for the best).
In the late 90s, for every Metal Gear there was fifty games like this where they didnt even know how to put the collision boxes on the platforms correctly
I remember loving this game as a kid but despite the fact I'm constantly replaying boomer games I never replayed it for some reason. I think I know why now. Some kind of PTSD shit going on protecting my current self
Wow...I have had this game in my mind for basically 20 years lmao! I only had the demo disc and could never remember the name. Just the aesthetic. Thank you Obama. I feel complete now.
The one thing I remember about this game is that it was one of the first times I heard Steve Blum in a video game. This was recorded at Animaze after all, the same guys that produced the dubs for Cowboy Bebop, Trigun & Big O. Which shares the same pool of talent. Although some of those actors were active over a decade before this game was released.
@@OberynTheRedViper nah Samurai Legend is definitely better in hindsight. This game does deserve a remake imo to give it the polish it deserves for a better experience.
i remember watching the last day of this stream. went to sleep for the night, woke up in the morning to see you still playing this. that’s crazy, a game having you legit in a genjutsu just to finish this shit. good shit though obama
3:14 I hate that so much As brutal as the Souls games can be, I'm glad all of the random-ass side quests you get on those games usually aren't required to get the cooler stuff
I completely forgot about this game! I don't remember if I had the real game or a demo, but I can't believe how many memories I just unlocked watching this.
What's crazier is that the game got a sequel. I loved the memories I had of playing it back on one of the PSX demo disks and y'know, I think that might be for the best.
I forgot how terrible the platforming was in this game. Good job getting through it. In the PS2 sort of sequel, they took out a lot of that aspect at least.
@@doogies DONT SPEAK OF THE ANCIENT TRIALS TO ME. I was when they were created. It came with my first genesis. Those damn waterfall logs or ostrich run haunts my dreams 30 years later.
I played this not too long ago, I really hope it gets remade because it's so hard to play today and I think it could be great with some quality of life upgrades
Man I could barely make it through some of those streams. That game was kicking your ass LMAO Fun time as always though, cant wait to see Shadow finish. 🤙
Damn not even Obama had strong enogh Pink Boomer glasses for this Thanks for the good content Majino (also other than the Souls games, please consider Sifu)
starting a 45 minute Majin Obama gameplay vid of a game i’ve never heard of, that looks like ass, at 2am, when i work at 7am? This Wasn’t Supposed T’Happen.
Damn, I was actually about to go back and play this game but, looking at it from this gameplay...maybe it should just remain a good memory. Thanks for helping me dodge a bullet!
I remember playing this as a kid. Bought an copy later in life because my old copy had a scratch on it that made it freeze at the final boss. Definitely not as good as I had remembered. Didn't think it was awful though. Still need to finish it for the sake of my disappointed young self.
Cryptic hints = games in 20th century, quality life improvements can't be quantified, like figuring out Gundam Wing & Cowboy Bebop from the things they alluded to indirectly.
One of the greatest games of all time. Platforming could be wonky but the day/night mechanic, action figure, and the different sword moves you learned and incorporated like a fighting game was mindblowing. I first played it in 4th grade, and I still occasionally hop on it now just to play the last segment in the Thirstquencher Empire. That whole segment was hype as fuck especially with the music. It's a shame you didn't enjoy it. But to other ppl watching this vid, check it out for yourselves.
I've some good memories from this game when I was a child, and I sure hope they stay as memories, because this game is looking like ass right now lmao.Good shit on the editing, waiting for that klonoa playthrough thou.
me and my friend spent a week on the topo section because we thought you had to memorize her sequence and do it right after she did and we kept failing and couldnt figure out why. we didnt realize you had to wait and do it again with her lmao
aged like milk but ahead of it's time for what it wants to accomplish. aint gonna play this even with a gun pointed at my head so watching your streams with this game was a blast
Bravest man on those streams was you man, I could see the life expectancy peeling off your face. Streams were still hella fun, thanks for bearing the burden.
Little kid me played the demo game of this never owned the full game but always wanted to! Adult me now should get it and play it probably will have a ball like I did in the demo over and over again
Also, part of your frustration was the fact that on emulator, if you don’t activate the analog button, the emulator treats your analog inputs as dpad inputs, and this game has a bug where dpad doesn’t accelerate to full speed instantly the way analog does, this is why all those jumps you tried to do without running first felt impossible.
To be honest, with how long it took ya to find the mayor's house at the start and the slope beside the Bar to go up to the valley/mountain, I'm surprised ya finished the game. Good on you, Obama!
Btw Obama there's a looming mystery no one is addressing. You said Ben was going back on probation. What piece of shit game did he talk you into playing last time? Lol
I got a good few laughs watching this, thanks man - unrelated but there's an obscure weird japan exclusive racing game RPG by square soft called Racing Lagoon PS1. Heard about it recently, if you're into this variety stuff I dunno might be up your alley
You was getting fucked up lol! People talking about it's trash cause it's 25 years old. It was nice for the late 90's/early 2000's. I wouldn't mind a remaster for the current generation cause it wasn't a bad game.
Gonna be honest, when i saw the whole "sleeper" thing i thought it was you making a joke about the game being so bad it put you to sleep or something. ...And then your ass started taking a nap in front of a boss and I realized _"oh this is gonna be a RIDE"_
Ah hell, I remember I really liked the concept of this game as a kid. Played a few times at other people's house but never had it personally. Perhaps if you let it age more, it'll turn into something cheesy? I had also heard that uh, the ps2 musashi game was trash. So maybe try it out as well and complete the trauma loop.
