Hello, I purchased and reviewed this pair of Brave Star 15 oz selvedge about a month ago. I have been wearing them a lot and here are the immediate changes I've noticed that could help you decide on sizing for your future purchase of raw selvedge like this one. I'm learning and I want to share that with you.

Been liking your videos for years and I just rewatched this early one because I’m trying to decide which brave stars to get. I live in a hot climate too in Arizona and I’m like you , I don’t wear shorts and tee shirts, I always wear Levi’s 501’s but I’m ready to try a pair of brave stars. Thanks for the videos.

Thanks for watching my vids! I'm still rocking this 14.5 oz here in Hawaii. It's looking pretty good still. I love my 501s as well. You'll like BS!

I love the ending. "After I wash them they'll either stretch out shrink."

Thanks for the update. I recently ordered a pair of the Bravestar 18oz. Renegade denim. Based on your review here, I read their sizing and washing info. and noted that they recommend using my actual waist measurements, rather than the label size. The jeans will stretch with wear as you mentioned. That appears to be typical. They describe gentle washing and air dry with some shrinkage back closer to the original out of the box size. Looking forward to trying these out and really appreciate the recommendation. I've noted similar recommendations from Karl Murawski and from Nick at Stridewise. Obviously, there is a lot of good here.

Love their products and will still remain as my go to selvedge jeans. You can’t beat the affordability and quality!

I was surprised to see you mention me in your vid. I'm glad Brave Star is accomdating you with 32s. Just like the other commenter said, so tight you can barely button. Ass will be tight, thighs too tight, then a week after daily wears and they'll feel like they were made for you. A hot soak won't shrink them and even if they do a bit, they'll stretch back out after one wear. Take em to a tailor, they'll take them in on the side seams and fit like a glove for like $20. I gotta wear pants too, screw shorts!

Try soaking the waistband in hot water for 30 minutes. Or just give the whole jean a soak in cold to see where they go. Hey brother, yes i agree short and tshirt are out just meh, I live in Houston and still do the 21.5 oz during summer. There is no escaping the humidity, no matter what you wear you're gonna be hot and sweaty. Sometimes it's hit or miss on the sizing, they're also allowed .5" tolerance so that can make a difference. The 15oz cone mill denim has tons of stretch in the waistband. I agree they're super soft too. When you get your new size, the way to tell they will fit after stretching is by barely being able to button the top. If you can still button the top they will be good. If they just button without any struggle and aren't pushing those love handles (me) they will be too loose but a belt fixes or alteration. Stay stylish 😎

Thanks Luis! I love the fact that I have someone like you on my list of friends that share valuable information I can rely on. I’ll try soaking it. Brave Star has been accommodating with my requests as well. It’ll another month with the mailing but it will be worth it!

@@antoniobranco8005 Thanks and I’ll try the hot soak and dry. I don’t mind belts but sometimes it’s a pain to keep on pulling up. I’ll wait with a few more wears before doing so. Thanks Antonio!

Thanks, I do wear it once in awhile or when I’m home. I think wearing it out to ‘go out’ is silly.

Thanks for your review sir, very helpful.. Iam wearing 34 as well , so i should choose 32 right because 32 = 34.5 (waist) base on the cart, is it right? Thanks, greeting from Malaysia 🇲🇾

a year later did it stretch more or shrink around the waist? It's interesting because on the sizing chart on the website it says I should get a 35 size when i normally wear a 34
@StylishGreaseMonkey
@StylishGreaseMonkey Год назад
Hi, it stretched at least one size up. This is sanforized selvedge so it was supposed to have been washed from the factory so that it keeps it from stretching nor shrinking. Most sanforized selvedge I own stretch out. Try look at the sizing again because they should recommend a size 32 for this type of selvedge. I will warn you though that it will be super tight at first (well uncomfortably tight). It will stretch out to your size 33 or 34 and form to you. I bought the 21.5 Oz from Bravestar and that is super heavy so I decided to order it on size 34 which is my waist size. I know it will stretch out to a 35 or 36 but because it is heavy duty it will take a little while.

Bravestar is always too big in the waist (my size). I cuffed the waistband on both sites for about 1 cm each and sew it. Problem fixed. Imo yours wouldn't have stretched that much by wearing a belt (I always do).

It’s probably all that sweating. I may do the same like you did to bring it in. I’m waiting for the opportunity for a first wash to see what happens.
