Welp, I basically just watched the entire movie...

I feel like i've seen this movie before.. Protagonist is a brat and is therefore shipped of this his father who abandoned him when he was a kid, for reasons unknown, and is now living out in nowhere. Protagonist starts in a new school, where he instantly becomes friends with his main love interest's geeky little brother - and oh, she of course also has this guy (who is probably on some sort of sports team) who acts as if he owns her even though, she's made it clear to him, many times, that she is in no way interested in him anymore. And the protagonist is of course extremely handsome, but is still being bullied, because you know.. why not

That wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

it was unexpectedly good movie with some depth in there. yeah it might be cheesy in some parts but overall it has a great story behind it.

Wow ... so many American flags ... when it was actually shot in my little hometown of Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada. It's called "show business" for a reason, though ... production companies save money by shooting in Canada. That's why they come here.

This is a great meaningful film! Lucas is also in "Son of the South" which is another great film! As well as Hana Montana, Xmen and MacGuyver

I agree with some of the other comments, in terms of realism the main character is not only too old to be playing this part, but also way too experienced, there aren't many 17 year olds who have a major job in the city at a drug filled nightclub. Some of the side characters acting is cringeworthy and the whole entire love story dance team thing is unnecessary. The main character himself has enough problems and the girls perspective just took away from a potentially good character as he develops a relationship with his father, therapist, patches his relationship with his mom, withdraws from his heavy drug usage since the age of 12 (???no symptoms ever shown??) and how he repairs his life in a town and develops his passion for music. Im just sad that so much focus was taken off of his character, even though its a role thats seen often, its messages hold true for a lot of people going through tough times. All that being said, its a cute movie to watch to revisit an old heartthrob.
