Thanks for the good review. I have not carried before and I am not sure a "belly" type holster would work well for me. Can you recommend something that you already have and like to use for concealed carry?
@CloverTac
@CloverTac 11 месяцев назад
ok, you asked, here we go 🤣😂 so first, my opinon on belly band is that it is very niche in nature. i do not and would not choose to carry this way day to day for sure. but again, has its place and options are always good. how i carry or how you carry will depend largely on a variety of things like what you carry, location that is comfortable for you, your body type, what type of clothes you normally wear, yadda, yadda, yadda. for me, i typically carry outside the waist band with an undershirt and cover garment of some sort. since we can carry open or concealed, i seldom worry about things being 100% concealed cuz i don't have to. which brings me to another varable i guess, the regulations in your area. since you asked about concealed carry here we will go down that road. inside the waist band, usually at the three o clock position is pretty common. you will want to get a good belt, one made for carrying. Kore is a pretty solid company for that in my opinion but do some homework, actually do homework on all of what i am saying as there are tons of good companies for this sorta thing. as far as holsters, next you gotta pick the material, straight up kydex, leather or a combo? kydex often offers the best retention but with inside waist band carry and completely concealed, that is far less of a worry for most folks. leather will have a little more give, comform to your boday a bit more and might be more comfortable. kydex is liekly way more common and readily available. then tehre are hybrids with a kydex shell on a leatehr backing. anyway you go here, i would say a two belt loop verison is going to be more secure and distribute the weight a lot better so look into that. oh and back on the belt, i like a wider belt, say one and three quarter inch over on and a half inch but you gotta be sure you pants will allow that and get a holster will big enough belt loops too. just a side note. ok, back to holsters and again there are many companies. remember me saying the make and model would be a big variable? yeah, start there because depending on what you have optiosn may be pretty limited. for straight up kydex or maybe hybrid, i have always liked Alien Gear. they have been around a minute, are solid and offer a big variety, even can do custom shop for you if need be. for leather i really like Craft Holsters. those are my initial thoughts, thanks for the question. remember that conversaiton here on RU-vid int he commetns suck becuase we seldom get notifications, so i fyou wanna follow up best to do that through social media DM/PM, through my website, etc.

I’m a big guy (6’2” 250) w/ a “dad bod” (big belly) & I basically exclusively use a belly band to CCW. I’ve tried Tier 1 appendix & it just was never comfortable enough. In fact, it was quite painful bending forward. Plus there were limitations on what I could wear. Props to their marketing though because I spent Goode $$$ on it. I have 2 primary belly holsters: 1 for deep conceal appendix. The 2nd I only use high strong side (think several inches beneath armpit). Both of these options work best for me in %100 of scenarios. I’ve yet to have a scenario where either belly band wouldn’t work or would be uncomfortable. Don’t fall for the hype of Kydex holsters. Belly bands are the more affordable, versatile, comfortable option.

yup, i get it.... we are all different and so having options like this is nice. lots of people claim this is or that is stupid and should not exist. you won't ever hear me saying those types of things. that said, i have found very few situations, very few, where this or any other belly band works well if at all for me.

I have one. Let me start by saying, I am a large dude. I have trouble with most holsters due to the extra "storage" I have up front. I wear it on top of an undershirt and about half way past the edge of my pants. My EDC is an M&P Plus and it works really well for me. It doesn't print and I can carry up to 3 additional mags with the extra velcro mag pouches you can order. I have the black one, but you can get a gray or "nude" color as well. I think they have a new one out now, but I haven't looked at it yet. I just took the time ot figure out what worked for me and made the adjustments to my dress and routine. I also carry a Canik METE SF that works great with the belt.

Great video as usual. I've tried a few different ones a couple of years ago and didn't care for them due to me having a tactical muffin top 😂 and it causing them to keep "rolling down" and becoming uncomfortable after maybe an hour. I think they'll work great for people who have a more slender profile.

Just tried the BravoBelt. The snap retention and my clumsiness had me sliding it into the holster pocket with the firearm, which had me worried about it tangling with the trigger. Not good. As long as I'm paying necessary attention, then I'm OK. I'm thinking that the snap retention elastic, with all my sweating and washing, will wear out quick so we'll see. It's comfortable at the 3 and 4 o'clock. If you're portly then I'm ultra-portly, and so wasn't comfortable at AIWB or Outside Belly Carry (OBC) from 12 to 2. The material and fit does feel comfortable, and its construction does seem solid, so thumbs up there. An excellent follow-up would be for me to run in place or jog with it, see how that goes. Overall, it's probably going to be for around the house and yard, and very probably not for the public. I like that I can now carry my Beretta APX (full and Centurion) in my sweats, since the Phlster Enigma is so darned expensive (and unavailable for my Berettas) Thank you, CloverTac.

let me tell you why seldom if ever i talk prices... RU-vid policy. firearm content creators have very speciic polcies we have to deal with when it comes to RU-vid, they literally have sections that apply to us and no one else. anything that is remotely considered the "promotion or sale" of a firearm product can become problematic. not talking money is one of the ways i have found to help avoid problems. prices can easily be found once you are aware that a producdt exists right? so there ya go, just a little inside baseball.

that can also happen with both iwb and owb on the hip, depends on the firearm too. let me tell you a story about that. so was on the range one day, youth shooting sports stuff, someone screams, snake... myself, another instructor and a dad run that way, the dad gets there first, draws his 1911 from an iwb holster and click, he racks, click again. i pull my glock 42 from my owb and bang, dead snake. later on that dad tells me once he got home he took his 1911 apart and it was nasty as all get out. so year, it can happen regardless. two things i would add here though. first, cleaning and maintenance is paramount with your carry firearms but you should be regularly shooting what you carry anyway, so that should be a common thing. carrying and hardly ever getting an trigger time is not very optimal. the second thing, which helps me a lot, is wearing an undershirt, something between my body and firearm. typically i will carry owb with a light cover garment, but almost always have some type of under garment, even though i seldom carry anything that worries me too much when it comes to moisture. heck, i once left my glcok 42 out on a range table and it ended up under a foot of snow for like two days. when i remembered it, went out, dug it out, both loaded magaines left of the table too ran through it fine. 😂🤣 thanks for the good comment, chance to talk about these things i have experienced and definitely gives folks something they should be thinking about.

I bought a different one but never used it because there isn’t a trigger guard. When you’re up against a kitchen counter and hit a corner, it felt like the trigger could go off. How’s the trigger guard for this one? From the looks of it, it seems like the button is made of thicker material so that there isn’t negligent discharge.
@CloverTac
@CloverTac 2 месяца назад
i don't think i have ever seen a belly band that wasn't just some piece of elastic... including this one. so you are right not much in the way of heavy duty protection like leather or kydex would be. depending on the handgun we are talking about of course, it would have to be a pretty crazy situation to bump something and cause a discharge in my opinion. i mean, you probably should be a little more careful about not bumping your firearm around too much anyway, right? that said, there is such a thing as trigger covers. they are little plastic pieces that cover the trigger guard, usally with a piece of paracord through them. if a bellyband is your choice for whatever reason, maybe try to find one of those, tether the cord to the velcro area OR if you know someone handy could probably sew it in good and tight. when you draw it would pull the cover off and you are good to go.
@JJ-ws5us
@JJ-ws5us 2 месяца назад
@@CloverTac Thanks for the feedback. I think I’ll look into the trigger guard like how you mentioned. I guess it’s just more of a mental hurdle knowing that it isn’t a conventional type of trigger guard like the one I carry with now. I definitely want to use a belly band for the days that I don’t wear jeans and have to wear a tactical belt with the holster.

This states my "First Belly Band" I do not want to be buying many of these. I think most of us have a footlocker full og various expensive holsters. Guess what, once you buy them, you are stuck with them. Most gun shops will sell little to none if any holsters, it is even worse when it comes to accessories. They will admit it.
@CloverTac
@CloverTac 2 месяца назад
i may be missing your point here. i do agree, most avid firearm owners, including myself have tons of holsters sitting around. the issue at hand is that we are all different in body type, clothes we wear, etc. so trying holsters until we find one that works the best is sadly just a thing. i guess a good thing with this one is that it is cheaper than a lot of belt style holsters out there with also being able to work with a variety of handguns. heck if you wanna go with a knock off, can probably get the investment down even lower. amzn.to/3WuLPp0
