Braxton County Monster 

Here's another weird but true story from West Virginia:
In 1977, the small town of Braxton County, West Virginia, became the site of a peculiar and unexplained event known as the "Braxton County Monster" or the "Flatwoods Monster" incident (not to be confused with the earlier 1952 Flatwoods Monster sighting).
On the evening of September 13, 1977, several residents of Sutton, a town in Braxton County, reported seeing strange lights in the sky. Shortly after, a family living on a farm outside town heard an unusual whistling noise and saw a bright object land in their field.
When they went to investigate, they encountered a bizarre creature unlike anything they had ever seen. They described it as being around 7 feet tall, with a round, red head and large, glowing eyes. Its body was said to be green and seemed to be mechanical or robot-like. The witnesses also reported a strong, sulfuric odor in the area.
The family fled in terror, and when they returned with local law enforcement, the creature was gone. However, they found strange markings on the ground and trees where the object had supposedly landed.
The incident gained national attention, with investigators from various UFO research organizations descending on the small West Virginia town. While skeptics have proposed explanations ranging from misidentified barn owls to hysteria, the case remains unexplained.
This event added another chapter to West Virginia's rich history of strange and unexplained phenomena, further cementing the state's reputation as a hotspot for bizarre occurrences.
