Learn so much about Brazilians and Brazil from you. I moved here from the US a couple months ago. The US isn't much different...just have more money. Image, living above their means. Foolishness. But I still love Brazilian people. That is enough for me. Good people.

Money isn't everything, but it is almost everything when you don't have enough of it to live a dignified life. Brazil is VERY expensive if you have to survive on $300 a month. My food costs alone were more than that. I feel like many poorer Brazilians turn to entertainment as an 'escape' from their difficult lives. Some of us foreigners look at them enjoying entertainment and assume that they're 'happy'. Not to mention that too much entertainment and associated risky behaviors can make it more difficult to escape poverty-this creates a self-perpetuating cycle.

After two years of living here. Everything you say rings true, but also a lot of Brazilian's lifestyle choices are not healthy... A lot eat and go to sleep late, their circadian rhythms are out of whack and it starts when they are children. Their nutrition is horrible, far too much sugar and processed food and I imagine 99% of Brazilians wouldnt have any idea about what all the seed oils are doing to them... It is nearly impossible to find a food label that is telling the truth... And these bad lifestyle habits start with kids... I take my 9 year old to school and see the kids with packets of chips and soft drinks eating fried rubbish... Sleep and Nutrition are the two most important components to good mental health... On top of that they arent interested in making changes they just want to take a pill or if they can afford , have surgery.

Adam, by your last name you probably have at least a Brazilian or Portuguese parent. You are right; you said "a lot of Brazilians", but not all of them. There is a big influence of junk food in Brazil (and in many countries), but there are also many people who care about what they eat, who like to exercise etc. and try to have a healthy life. Just take a look at the big number of natural and vegetarian restaurants and natural product stores like "Mundo Verde" etc. around the country. Brazil has over 200 million people, so we can't generalize.

@@nancyleal2529 Nope not Brazilian... Just because there are people that care about what they eat and do, doesn't mean the are educated on what they should do... I think you will find most Brazilians would think giving a young child juice to be healthy... I only have to walk around or drop my child off at school or be at a event to see every kid with a can of soft drink in their hand and a phone in the other... Every gym I have been to, is rampant with steroid abuse, men and women... And whoever can afford, gets surgery! They use Diabetes medication so they can eat and drink whatever they like... A lot of people in first world countries realize that there is a collaboration by the food, medical and pharma industries to make people sick... Unfortunately, not as many in Brazil. The poorer people unfortunately don't really have much of a choice however educated and financial people are simply ignorant. FYI stores like Mundo Verde sell mostly rubbish... Most supplements are a scam... When you multiply the poor lifestyle choices parents are making for their kids and multiply it by the topics in this video... I dont have a lot of hope for the next gen of Brazilians.

Brazilians try to deal with their frustations using food (thats all they can afford). Thats the true. edit: junk food, because good food is expensive.

I am Brazilian, too, and I don't believe much in rankings like that. Many depressed people in the world nor even seek for help, so how can they be counted? Problems exist in the whole world and traveling we can see that the Brazilian people in general, even the poorest, are able to deal with problems better than in many countries. It's much more common to see friendly and smiling people in Brazil than in many others. The way of life in our country is one of the reasons why many foreigners live here.

In my opinion, Brazilian happiness is similar to that of other poorer countries: the inability to afford material things from a young age leads to a focus on other aspects of life, such as relationships and religion.

I have a question - was Dilma Roussef really bad for Brazil? I know she was convicted of some financial crimes or something, but was she really guilty, or was it all political persecution, like what we have with Trump in the US?
@brazilian-native
@brazilian-native Месяц назад
After 1930, all governments were bad… since then, Brazil has been going on a forever down spiral… yes, some are presidents were worse than others, like Dilma for example… but at the end of the day, all they pretty much the same.

For a single person yes, is a good amount (you are not rich but can live very confortably), but who makes this money here normally have to raise a familly with that, wich is not much.

@@BillyGringo yes you can live without car and having the basic. But remember, this kind of money is considered high here. Over 84% of families here live with U$1k / month. Many of these have 1 or 2 kids. LOL

@@brazilian-native My girlfriend and I live in a new apartment right on the beach, situated on the 20th floor of a modern building. It's fully equipped with amenities like a swimming pool, gym, party room, and even a coworking space with free wifi. The apartment came furnished, and all our rent and bills are covered. We're just a two-minute walk from the beach, and we eat out quite often-around 10 to 15 times a month. Our favorite spots include rodizios, steakhouses, pizza places, and popular restaurants like Assi, Outback, Paris 6, or even Coco Bambu. Sometimes, when we're in a hurry, we'll grab something from BK or McDonald's. We also go to the beach practically every day, grabbing drinks, snacks. We handle our grocery shopping for the entire month as well. In addition to enjoying our local scene, we travel frequently-about 2 to 3 times a month-to destinations such as Cumbuco, Canoa Quebrada, Taíba, Flecheiras, Jericoacoara, and we even make an annual trip to Colombia. Last year, we had the chance to visit Colombia twice! We've also invested in some of the latest gadgets, including an iPhone 15 Pro Max, MacBook Pro M1, Air M2, GoPro, and DJI Pocket Osmo. We have health insurance through UNIMED and other essentials covered. We manage all of this on just 2,000 Brazilian Reais per month for both of us. This month, our expenses dropped to 1,800 Reais because we scaled back to just one trip instead of our usual two or three. PS: Neither my girlfriend nor I earn in dollars; we make our living in Brazil in Brazilian Reais. We don't have children either
