Emperor "Menelik" defeated the Italians in their first attempt to colonize Ethiopia. The Battle of "Adwa" in 1896 was a demoralizing defeat for the Italians which fueled their second failed attempt during WWII. Menelik a black man "tikur sew" like the audience Teddy Afro is singing for can relate to his greatness. The song has elements of patriotic reverence and appreciation in being a black person. Look up Menelik and the Battle of Adwa, interesting history, very strategic battle which left the defeated looking foolish on the world stage.

We have a long extensive over 3,000 yrs of history. We have never been colonized, over 80 tribes, Orthdox Christian that was our own never been imposed on us, cradle of humanity -look up “Lucy”, own own language, script, numbers and our calndee is different
