When he heard the town was planning to kill the 3 messengers, he came "yass'a" running or walking very fast. 5:53 [but they killed him] is not part of the original Arabic text. Rather, Allah used a great surprising transition in the verse, from the believer giving his people dawah (calling his people to believe) while he is still alive, saying "listen to me" imploring his people, and suddenly you read, "it was said to him, Enter Paradise" (in the original text you won't read the phrase [they killed him]), which is an explanatory note. Read it without that phrase (they killed him) to get a taste of the original. What a huge surprise! (Allah did not say they killed him). This could mean, my humble note, that this life is so little that God, instead of saying they killed him, just mentioned the more important thing: the eternal REWARD (heaven). The original video forgot to add the brackets. Notice how good-hearted that believer was. His people killed him, yet the first thing he said after entering paradise was, " I wish that my people knew" about the reward that he had received. There are many, many nuances in just one page of this chapter. According to non-Muslim linguists, the Quran is the first book to introduce these transitions, or shifts, from one scene to another smoothly without warning. It uses many shifts in pronouns, scenes, and subjects in a smooth way, which is only one aspect of its eloquence. You can capture many of them, even in translation. The main eloquence, though, is the meaning, and that is for all people. Allah, sw, also directs our attention to his signs in the surah. The sun and the moon, each in their own orbit (when until recently, people thought that the sun was stationary). The literal word "swimming" has that sense of floating in their respective orbits. Another verse in this surah shows us a sign; " we have subjected these cattle to them." Think of a ten-year old kid driving a flock of sheep or riding a horse. You see a tiny kid pulling a huge buffalo by his nose ring and making it work the field, or riding a big elephant and controlling it with his tiny feet, pinching the edges of the elephant's ears to direct it! It is utterly surprising that they can be tamed to this level! A huge beast is controlled by a 10 year old boy and is made to work for hours every day in a field, and then get milk, meat, and leather from them. Many of us now are surrounded by artificial machines, like cars, phones, etc., and are not exposed to, nor meditate on, these blessings.
