In celebration of WINTER and NEW YEARS, I've taken a step back and found a vid I managed to miss. You're in my neck of the woods spent most of my life fishing up and down that bank to the right of your position,my mom and dad live on the river not to far below the barge tie ups,the bluff below the barge tie ups holds some good catfish
I bought a $24 bilge pump at a fleet farm and Industrial velcro, Stuck it to the floor right under the middle of the motor. Ran a flex hose up the transom and clamped it flush with the motor. Worked just as good as the one on my old Ranger. What's cool is you can use a rubber hose. and use it to cool off spray the boat down back up live well and shore fishing. Just put male or female spade clips on the power wire and its very portable. Mine ran off a six or 12-volt battery. I wired a switch in on the bilge pump so it was ready to go with rain and big ass cruiser waves on the river.
Dave, I saw where you were catching most of your fish on one rod. Could it be because of the Santee rigging? Don't be offended Dave, but wear the life jacket below the dam. I do believe that if his hot dawg fell off the willow....Dave would brush it off...turn it around..cook it...and say...."it is still good"......pass the mustard....
Years before there was anything called a circle hook I would bend my aberdeens to resemble what is now a circle hook. I should have marketed the idea because it really upped my hook rate (of sea fishes). And we would have had circle hooks a lot sooner. Dammit!

pretty good day cant complain. i usually wouldnt correct a guy but since you said at least 4 times HX (avet), you actually have yourself an MXJ, an HX is a big reel i fish mine with 80# for bluefin.. MXJ6/4 raptor i just bought one for my new 40# reel. that little MX size is nice nice reel.
You mentioned about the proper full name of them Mustad hooks being a lot of words, and it is.... when I was shopping around for them I nearly got the wrong ones myself.... then I started shopping for them by the Mustad part number.....39951, made the search much quicker.
Fished with them for years now, never had an issue finding them.. Untill Dave switched to them, and told everybody how good they are.. now you can’t find them anywhere.... Amazon is probably your best bet
I watched a guy do a vid on life jackets. Results not good on 90% of them. The only one that actually keeps your head above water was one that is very expensive and uses a pull cord to inflate it I guess it’s a c02 cartridge or something. Probably worth it though you can’t put a price on your life. Plus it looks like it would be very easy to fish/ move in compared to the bulky ones anyways. Something to think about.
