I’m so glad you reacted to this beautiful gem! I sang this song at a coffee house in 1977 at Northern Illinois University. I’m certain it was nowhere near the quality of David Gates’ vocals, but I did pull it off! 🤪 Keep up the good work! 😎🎶❤️
right, i remember the coffee houses of the 1970s, it was a lot of fun. anyone who wanted to performed did, and no one judged, but clapped. those were special times with good friends.
My mother who passed away on Christmas Day 2014 from Metastatic Colon Cancer at 83, this was her favorite song by Bread! I miss her terribly! Isn't it ironic, my favorite song by Bread is "Everything I Own"! I would truly give up everything I own to have my mother back for one more day!
As a kid growing up in the 1970s, I remember Bread being one of my Mother's favorite bands, so I heard plenty of their songs. They've got to be the Kings of soft rock in the 70s, and their beautiful music endures nearly 5 decades! Just about any song by David Gates and Bread is fantastic!
Beautiful, with an equally great reaction... Saw these guy's in concert with my Mom & Siblings in 1974 in Tucson Az. I thought for sure you both had reacted to this song long ago, but I am so glad you did today. Thank You Enoma!
Bread's classic hits are still being played 50 years after they came out. It stood the test of time that even teenagers are singing it not knowing it was generations ago. The music still fresh whether Bread as a group or David Gates(age 80yrs old) as a solo artist.
Glad to see you both healthy and well! We’re all hoping India will turn a corner very soon! Beautiful song. David Gates is a magnificent writer and arranger.
Lovely reaction, as usual. I bought my first records in 1960 and this song is in My Top 20 and another of their wonderful songs "Make It With You" is in my Top 5 of all time :)
So David Gates and Bread have some beautiful music. I bought my first guitar when this song was popular. I new three easy chords so I could play some John Denver songs, but this one girl kept asking me "are you sure you can't play IF?" NO I CAN"T still can't 45 years later. Nothing to do with Rudyard Kipling though.
It has been years since I've heard this song, but it is so good to hear it again! There are two singers that I believe you'll both enjoy, but weren't big stars are Michael Tomlinson and Cheryl Wheeler. Michael Tomlinson's best songs; I will not pass you by, By a Friend, Yellow Windows, I knew You Well, Angelenos. Cheryl Wheeler; Quartermoon, Rainin', Paradise In Troubled Water, Your Radio is up Too Loud, and Gimme the Right Sign.
When you consider IF as their best song, "The ChosenOne!" from Lost Without Love album is very close. Does above intrigue you? Find out and you wont regret it.
Beautiful smiles and reaction thank you for bringing back memories have a great day and a better tomorrow Check out PABLO CRUISE SONGS They are all great .
