Welcome back to my channel. I’ve been quiet for the past few months due to work and I don’t have any resources to make new videos. Well, i managed to create one today for you guys. Introducing The Comb from Barista hustle.
I got this from a good friend of mine for Christmas last year. And I’ve been using it almost everyday. The packagine is rather simple. A rubber piece, or handle if you’d call it. Then the needles or tiny pins.
I had a hard time inserting the pins into the holder. Until I realised that I was doing it the wrong way.
Once i got the hang of it. then i started to insert multiple pins.
trying the comb out. i use it in my usual routine of griding beans into a dosing cup.
Here, the comb is breaking apart all the tiny particles of air that is stuck in between the ground coffee. I think a dosing ring would help better in making sure the ground don’t make a mess around your workstation.
In my personal opinion, i feel that the extraction is way more smoother and the espresso comes out at a much nicer flow rate. it would be better if you have a naked portafilter to better look at the extraction from the portafilter basket. Hope you enjoy this short video of the comb. And don’t forget to like comment and subscribe. See you in the next one!

Nice video! Does it really do that much of a difference? You are pressing the coffee while tampering so the air pockets will collapse anyway...

Well I haven't scientifically study it that much but for now, after I grind the beans, there are clumps and this tool helps just to break it apart. If you tamp it down directly, it might just form tiny air pockets?

@@EweJinTee I really don't know, we need some scientific data but air pockets? On a grainy substance? After compression? I seriously doubt it, but it is possible.... Some say that the clumps get even more compacted and this prevents it...maybe ... It would be nice if someone did a scientific study with blind taste tests

@@TheAllMightyGodofCod Let me know if you find any studies! After all, I don't let these bother me that much either. Just want to enjoy the espresso shot that I'm able to extract out and it seems descent :)

You installed the needles incorrectly from the wrong side.
