I was never read or played with as a child, but I made a concerted effort to do these things later in life when I became a nanny and worked in playgroups, and I saw the huge difference giving children time made in their lives. You are validating them so that they learn to value themselves and others.

I was raised by parents who also have childhood traumas. Knowing this, it made it easier for me to forgive.. my parents and myself.

Unfortunately, too many parents have not even healed from their own childhood trauma so they are passing on their limitations to their children

@@Lotus3six9when I was a child no one saw a counselor or therapist for trauma...trauma was something no one spoke about, let alone heal.

we understood it the first time. No need to repeat it for every time Gabor says it.

I agree, but I might forward this to some- one who is new to the whole concept, as in the world of today, the average client/friend/patient might want the basics presented in a recent podcast, possibly in the form of a brief summary, similar to this one. 🤗

@@cianormia8638 sure, but I dunno. Right now it feels just like repetition. But I was pissy yesterday, so I apologize

I never expressed my emotions as a child because I never knew it was an option.

the really tragic ting about this, i that the neglected and traumatised child will be punished and rejected at school and in social situations, compounding their distress

I grew up constantly being shamed and punished. It seems as an adult I have been ridiculed, and made fun of by those who picked up on my feeling of inadequacy

My trauma caused me to have an addiction later in life for over half my life. I met my wife and continued my addiction. She sensed something wrong and finally I told her. She encouraged me to seek help and at the same time, I realized I harmed her. Today, sober not acting out for six years and hopefully for my lifetime. Day by day

This video is misnamed, it is not "Dr. Maté on Authenticity as the Antidote to Trauma". It is very short clips of him with distracting video and some guy expounding on what he thinks Dr. Maté is saying. You took bits and pieces of an interview of him for your own ends. Pathetic!

Eu diria, falando sobre mim. Já vivia em ambientes extremamente perigosos. Onde essas "pequenas" decisões eram feitas em uma fração de segundo, e toda uma vida seria guiada por esses milésimos de fragilidade... Nunca vivi perto do crime.

You don't need an abusive household, or a bad environment. Something as simple as not development of a will of our own can give you a trauma in the future. Today i realized, that im still my child self, i was mature for my age, which made me take too long to realize i hadn't grown up..... I never had a free will, which now makes it complicated now that i have to make decisions on my own as an adult. I'm so mad it took me 12 years to realize this....

same here which is why i learned to never show it alnd always project a "positive" personality. fun and nice and great for making freiends... until the inevitable intimacy/abandonment wound trigger and then suddenly i'm shame spiraling and avoiding them and the friendship is soon over. you are not alone and the shame and punishment wounds can express in different ways in different people. even some people who appear very sociable and well-adjusted to you may be under the surface unable to maintain deeper connections than just surface level due to childhood wounding similar to yours. some of them even become abusers to hide their wounding.

Why is this distractive, terrible habit of putting film footage under this talk. It is so stupid and far from helpful. Cut is out! Just show the person who is speaking.

As a hypnotherapist I wanted to share that I have had phenomenal results with helping people overcome trauma with hypnotherapy without having to endure years and years of talk therapy or dangerous prescription drugs. I never understood however how yoga and exercise can help heal trauma. I would be curious to learn. I exercise consistently for the health benefits but never experienced a “healing” effect. Could you share more about this please? Your channel is fantastic. I just found you. 🙏🥰
