Hands down, probably the best jazz blues tutor on RU-vid right now. Difficult concepts explained simply with no bullshit and some great examples to steal! Thank you!
DEAR JACK RUCH.. True story... I had a tape a gifted older guitarist gave that mixed jazz and blues and I was 19, very eager to learn this holy grail, and it got stolen. Nothing else has ever come along that got it just like that, a perfect, yet learnable way to bring jazz to blues. YOU, SIR, Just did what old Jazz guy did. THIS. IS. THE.SOLO. FOR.ME, to learn and have seemingly covered it all. This solo is the greatest find on RU-vid I have been looking for in 15 years of looking.- Steve
I'm a 73-year-old Blues guitar player. I've been playing since I was 12. I would consider myself a journeyman Blues guitarist. Every time I watch your videos I learn something new. You have an excellent ability to convey somewhat complex information. I truly appreciate all the new stuff I learn thank you.🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂👍
Hi Dan! I'm a 72 year old Blues/Jazz Guitar player. I started at 12 also, and I feel like a beginner when some of this is presented. So I just had to say Hello! H E L L O!
I have watched countless guitar tutorials on RU-vid. There are some fantastic teachers out there, but this guy is the biz. Everything so succinct and bang on the money. Always something in there that comes as a revelation to me and I've been playing 45 years. Thanks, man!
Yikes. Conceptually I understand the chord substitutions, but it's going to take me awhile to get my brain/fingers to implement these substitutions. Great "next level" video. Thanks!
Great lesson mate ! I used to think of the G major arpeggio or run going into the D as a Dorian thing in A heading into the D, but just playing shapes, not thinking of the notes. I think that’s the big mistake I’ve made playing for the last 45 years… I worked it out from a Steve Lukather move. You’re a great teacher Jack, I’m getting into your triads course which is opening doors for me to be able to play what’s in my head. Really appreciate your work. 👍🇺🇸🇦🇺
Great work Jack. I’m wondering if you could do a lesson at some point on some the rhythmic embellishments you are using. They really bring these lines to life. Thanks for all the effort you’re putting into to these videos. Greatly appreciated.
Nice lines.. i know my arpegios and o 'see" them but need to listen this more times so this "new sounds" - colors will sink into my head and practice realy slow. Thanks JR u and GT are are my favourite players.great content.Greetings from Slovenija
@@JackRuch I really enjoyed the augmented substitution. Have been trying to work in 2-5-1's and diminished lines as I go to the relevant chords. But the subbing of the dominant 5 with the diminished and augmented to compliment the minor 2nd was eye opening and new for me. That and the maj 7th substitution for the II minor 7th opened my ears!!!!! Love all you do!
Really love it Sir!Already subscribed. If ever you are the jack Ruch who long time ago uploaded videos filmed at Hyper guitar in Tokyo, well you are partly responsible for me buying a vintage tele and a deluxe reverb (the later non vintage) love those vids ,can’t find them anymore.all the very best Mr Ruch
Thanks again Jack! Terrific and inspiring content. I bought your TrueFire course and I'm really enjoying it (although, your playing is way better than the app itself). I highly recommend the course to EVERYONE. One suggestion or request: I would love to hear a discussion on how you set up your guitars/amps/pedals to get your tone. I think this is one area that is often overlooked by teachers but feels fundamental to getting the best out of your gear. Cheers!
It's hard to imagine that introducing non-arpeggio notes would sound better. What did I learn all these scales for? I do think that the 9th sounds nice over those major 7s.
Nice Mr. Ruch. Thanks! Hey what do like for say... a 1/2 measure prior to E7 to set up the 5 chord (E) in a A-blues prog? I have tried B7 alt unsuccessfully.
@@arturoparisi4123 Thanks Didnt realize he was talking about tonic, sub-dominant, dominant . Thought he meant dominant as in a dominant 7th (as opposed to M7)
