Hi Brian. I usually watch videos and then defeat the video, but I watched this gem threw 5:51 each time I got something out of it that I found very valuable. Thanks for sharing this! Take care my fly-tying-brother!
That's intriguing, I remember you showing how to do the complex twist in an earlier video and I'd been tempted to try it on a dungeon at some point just never got around to it.
You make tying flies look so easy. At least it's nice to know an expert like you will occasionally break the thread, like I do more than occasionally. LOL! Keep breakin the rules. Now I've got the Judas Priest song in my head....."Breakin the rules...breakin the rules"!
If you think about it, "Candy Caning" is making wraps with space in-between creating a less thick body, whereas "touching wraps" creates a more thick body. I usually do candy canes on the rear hook and touching wraps on the front to help with proportions.
I love breaking the rules, mostly because I can’t be buying every little thing fly tying that comes along!😊. I love this way of making the dungeon. Thanks!
Hi Brian ! Man 8:29 that fly was beautiful man! And you make the construction of it look so easy! I've got to try this one! But what would I have to do to get my hands on one of your originals?
Great looking fly!!! But since we are braking the rules, have you tried to use Chockletts GC chenille for heads ( large one ) and wind it really tight and then trim it???
I don’t have a creative bone in my body so I tend to be more of a rule follower than rule breaker when it comes to fly tying. I suppose doing ANYTHING outside the recipe could qualify. Guess I should give it a shot. 😂
Brian thanks for another great video, I have been following your channel for a year or two now and that was the first time I have ever seen the use of a material guard in a video. Do you use it often? Have a great day and thank you for all of your videos.
@WARPEDVIKING EVERYONE struggles with deer hair! The truck is to tie with it as much as possible, over and over until the struggle is a little smaller. 😉
Brian, first off sorry I've been MIA for a little bit. There's been a family emergency kind of going on. The good thing is everyone is out of the hospital and doing fine and the perp is in jail. As to the fly, pretty cool. While watching this I was wondering what is it about a bunch of feathers, hair and plastic that makes a fish think it's food. Inquiring minds want to know. Keep the good stuff coming buddy.
