I was able to infer a lot from just thinking about it, but I wanted to see someone else did it the same way. Thanks for the tutorial!

Woah! Seemed like a hassle at first, but once you got it all set up you get a lot of freedom to play with it! Very cool!

This is wonderful. thank you. I need to dig in a bit more to understand how you prep'd the samples but this is just the trick I was looking for.

good work. the latest fw update can help with making sure your loops are exactly bar/2/3/4 long - since now you can set the exact length of the sampling/resampling (similar to Octatrack) . I wish they've added proper time stretch but with a few hacks that can be sorted out tho. Now, if your beats are not perfectly looping, you can cut the excess audio and be within exact length of the track.

It is harder on MK1 as not any image of the loop but I can still do it by ear.

A terrible idea to break from their norm and make the End point 120 instead of 128 with 128 as the end point you have 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1 and you get any beats in between by adding or subtracting these numbers together even 6, 12, 18, 24, 36... have meaningful musical use but not if 120 is the max
@HerrShield
@HerrShield 3 года назад
Yes I agree! However, using the velocity trick I described in the time stretching Video I posted you can make this happen!

would you mind sharing your breakbeats? would save some of us a lot of annoying work :) thanks so much for the tutorial by the way!

I thought about it and wouldn’t mind in principle, but ultimately decided against it due to the copyright issues 😬

Nice! Ehm…is it possible to soread out the ‘slices’ to the pads? So you can drum them through the pads into yoyr sequence?
@HerrShield
@HerrShield Год назад
unfortunately that’s not possible :(
@AeonHorus

Isn't this the same as in the Digitakt?
@HerrShield
@HerrShield 9 месяцев назад
as far as I know the digitakt cannot do the re-trigger and velocity ramps so you would have to use the LFO instead

Hi! One question: how can I repitch my samples to have them all at the same BPM? Can I do that directly in the analog rytm?
@HerrShield
@HerrShield Год назад
hi! No, you cannot do this directly on the rytm. It takes a bit of manual labor in the sample editor of your choice
@spelljammer
@spelljammer Год назад
Can I ask you to elaborate a bit more on how you are preparing your samples? Software used? Process?
@HerrShield
@HerrShield Год назад
I started in audacity to trim the breakbeat samples to a perfect loop. I didn't want to pitch all the samples by hand so I wrote myself a little script based on sox (sox.sourceforge.net) that if I remember correctly guessed the initial bpm and number of beats based on the original length and then just re-pitched to the appropriate length. Probably didn't save much time over just doing it manually in audacity though...

Can you play slices of a sample in the chromatic mode with the pads? I mean, I know I can lock parameter on the sequencer, but can I lock them on the pads chromatically? My idea is to sample synth pad chords and being able to PLAY them on the pads or via midi with external keyboard.
@HerrShield
@HerrShield 2 года назад
It’s unfortunately not possible, and I also don’t think there is a workaround.
@paololigi6081

great tutorial! just one issue: if i'm muting the track, the break keeps playing. what can i do? maybe shortening the last trigger of the sequence?
@HerrShield
@HerrShield Год назад
Thanks! You can use the amplitude envelope and set the note length accordingly. It will not mute the break immediately though but play the entire note as it was programmed.

Awesome vid! Just to clarify: were all of your breakbeats the same BPM and Length? That's the only way this would make sense to me.
@HerrShield
@HerrShield 2 года назад
Thanks! All the breakbeats have the same bpm but varying number of bars
@Nintendj

What about breakbeat loops at different tempos? Can you have two samples at different pitches on one channel or do you need to use another channel on the Rytm? Thanks for the video!
@HerrShield
@HerrShield 3 года назад
That’s in principle not a problem, however it will be a bit more fiddling around to get everything in time.

I know the Amen but what are the names of the other ones please? This all happened very fast. I managed to catch Apache and that was it.
@HerrShield
@HerrShield 3 года назад
I recommend to go breakbeat hunting on dogsonacid.com as well as archive.org but pretty much anything works as a source :) I can dig out a list of breaks I have on the rytm if that is helpful
@Quodge
@Quodge 3 года назад
@@HerrShield I feel a bit like a sample archaeologist. I’ve learnt about the history of the Amen and I recognised it in your sampler even when played back at faster/higher speed/pitch. I just didn’t realise there were so many others and you listed them so fast and so casually. I would definitely appreciate a short list of breakbeats, why not! Thx a lot. :)
@HerrShield
@HerrShield 3 года назад
@@Quodge Yeah it's definitely lots of digging :) Here are the ones I mostly use: amen, apache, cold_sweat, dont_change_your_love, foold_gold, funky_drummer, hot_pants, new_orleans, sesame_street, worm.
