We got a free tattoo machine sent to us so we figured it’s better to break it down than use it live.
Here’s our video showing the process of disassembly and testing for an adjustable cam tattoo machine.
Specs as tested:
154g/5.4 oz machine
80g/2.8 oz per battery
UNLOADED SPEED TESTS:
~4450 RPM @ 5v
~5225 RPM @ 6V
~5987 RPM @ 7V
~6700 RPM @ 8V
~7400 RPM @ 9V
Operation over 9-10 V isn’t suggested. This thing makes a ton of noise with cheaper cartridge setups (which I am assuming people may purchase alongside a machine at this price point).
Recommended for setups (with any price range of tattoo cartridges):
1-7 round/flat/mag - Can do them any day, for around 4 hours per battery.
9-13 round/flat/mag - probably would avoid longer term use. Machine breakdown and stressing would most likely occur at a faster rate.
Big groupings - don’t use this machine for large groupings.

But how does the adjusting work? Does the push-pin slides over the cam wheel from deep to shallow? Just like a recordplayer, from outside to inside? I really like this kind of unboxing. 😀

Yeah that’s what happens. Since the pivot plate is always set at an angle during rotation, the slide pin will drop into one of those groves at different heights while the machine motor spins. The grooves are at different elevations so by twisting the adjuster you are rotating the pin, dropping it closer/further from the cam center, affecting the stroke of the machine. Should we be doing more breakdown videos? It was fun but I’m lacking some seriously expensive equipment to properly test stuff. I’ll invest in the stuff is people want to learn more but only if someone actually wants to see that stuff

@@BetterTattooing I don't know, for me yes, but I'm weird that way.I like to know how things work and can be improved. Can't speak for regular people.🤪 And.... if the "real" stuff is really worth the money or not , compared to oriental made. I would like to know what your dream machine would be like. If you can do with kitchen equipment it gives hope to us mere mortals that we can do it too , if necessary. Besides that it adds flair. Sure you can do a podcast with the best equipment, superb dramatic lighting and other razzle dazzle, but if it's not worth listening to, then what? Thank you for what you're doing, learning a lot.

@@BetterTattooing I just got a mast sensor and battery the kit new unopened box for 48$ on eBay so ima hold off on buying any more machines for a bit

@@BetterTattooing but keep me Posted on how you like the machine and how it feels to you and I’ll do the same, because the mast sensor in my hands feels perfect it’s 4mm stroke with brushless motor and I am going to make a video when I use it
