BREAKFAST at The Sol Pelicanos BENIDORM Is it REALLY THAT BAD? 

Lucy's channel has an extensive review of the Don Pancho, whose food looked excellent. What was offered at the Sol looked pretty decent to me... yes, the beans were a bit runny but you dealt with that on the spot. It never ceases to amaze me the extent of tiny details about which people feel entitled to insist what you should do or should have done. Just eat what you like and review what you want to.

Mister Macmaster gotta give it a 7/10 simply due to the variety of breakfast choices on offer..& if it comes with the all in charge then that is a plus as there's something for everyone including chips 🍟 👌

Going solely on appearances, I'd give the breakfast a 7. A decent fry-up, wide choice of cooked meat and cereal. I imagine the calm atmosphere of the dining room might be a little different an hour or so later though.

I think 5.2 is a tad low - plenty of choice and all looked reasonable for mass catering. Hope you video the dinner in the Pelicanos. Enjoy!

Hi Lee, First the hotel looks fine, hygiene looks good. Breakfast to be honest looks like a typical Espania hotel, I wouldn’t complain mate. I’ll be in Bemindorm in the middle of April, as we love the place, lost count of how many times we have had the pleasure 👍🏻 for those who haven’t 🙈 you don’t know what your missing. Hi Lee, it looks very similar to our hotel breakfast ,we are staying at The Benidorm Plaza. We have had many other hotel type breakfasts and they are all similar. You summed it up perfectly it serves a purpose and sets you up for the day. 👍

The continental breakfast looks great. They've even got membrillo and magdalenas - perfect with a cafe con leche.

That took me back 25 years to a Sol hotel I stayed at in Majorca, generally ropey, but managed to soak up hangover. Don't worry about the toaster LEE, I had to use one when I was a chef for the Pate starter, back 30 years ago. I'd give it 5.2 too. The coffee looked better than I had. If I recall there should be a temperature control switch on the toaster.

Stayed at the Sol Pelicanos many times and as you say the breakfast is "ok", i would rate it as 6/10. It will sort you out for the day but had a better full english at other places like Yorkshire Pride and Wookey Hollow 2. Best thing about the Sol Pelicanos is the pool area.

Stayed there 30 years ago when it was called the Los Pelicanos, we renamed it the Doss Pelicanos. Beef stew on the menu one night, my Mum fished out half a rabbits skull complete with teeth out of her dish of 'beef stew'. She was hopping mad.

Have you been to the hotel in Benidorm called Gran Hotel Bali? You can get the lift for free to the viewing plat form, I’d recommend getting the exterior lift to the top it’s a grey experience.

7/10 for the Breakfast 10/10 for the choice. I've had a lot of these hotel breakfasts abroad and I've always been impressed with the selection on offer.

For nice surroundings and views and a good breakfast try “The Jungle” on the sea front beside Tiki Beach, we normally have one day a week there. 🌞🏖☀🏝🍹☀

It was horrible when we went last September. Ate out all the other days. 1/10

Why would anyone go and pay for a breakfast when you have it in your hotel, with a massive choice of cooked breakfast, fruit and continental style?

Looked a standard hotel buffet breakfast, if I can have cereals and toast I’m quite happy so would be fine for me. Like you say is serves a purpose and there was a good choice. Enjoy your trip Lee 👍☀️🍺

Hi there, another great video local Waze just to say very interesting to watch to see what it is like in the hotel breakfast. I didn’t like to look at some of the things. I do agree some of the bacon looked very pale and if I was going to market, I think I know a lot of people might get there, but I think I would only give it 3.5 that’s my opinion I just didn’t like to look at some of the stuff but like always I say to you you do you do a fantastic job with your videos and showing what things are like and you do not put any front on it you just do it as it is genuine. Keep up the good work

Bog standard set up for Benni that mate. It's more or less the same in the hotels I have stayed at . I usually havec2 crusty rolls one with sausage in the other with bacon in .Can't be bothered with toast machines especially if queing up.

Hopefully the breakfast is better in the Sandos Benidorm Suites when us lads go in a couple of weeks. Great video as usual.

Your right the bacon is rank and sausage are not very good but fills a hole, when away👍.

Great review of sol pelicanos breakfast. They are all pretty much the same , not the best but you always manage to find something to eat. Would be good to see Dinner also.

Great choice of breakfast would be happy with that i would have went for 6.5 because of the choice cheers Mac looking forward to the next vlog.

I have stayed there a few times because it’s cheap mainly. It is what it is, not brilliant quality but as you say serves a purpose. Score a little more than yours at 6. I only stay there when visiting my relatives. Usually only there over night so ok.

I always look for the round switch on the side of the macine that gives you some colour on the toast.

Stayed at the Sol Pelicanos for Easter a few years ago. Bit of a disaster as the was a virus going round the hotel, 4 out the 6 of us were ill. We were half board also, 5 or 6 seems a fair score for the food in general mate! I would say its as good as most hotels I've stayed at in Beni! Except for the Flamingo Oasis, old hotel but nice grub, was AI there. In all honesty, although I know the hotel caters mainly for Brits, I think it's important to remember you're in Spain in a Spanish owned hotel. A full english isn't exactly Spanish cuisine lol. Maybe keep that in mind

It was good to see the food in the hotel you’re staying at, you should do more of those videos :) Food looked average, but with the selection available no-one need go hungry.

I'd have given it a 10 plus. Man that looked awesome. I get nothing like that when I'm begging outside the post office

Yep always toast first, juice,coffee then the big fry up, It's never 5 star food at these hotels but it will do to fill up before an afternoon session on the strip, Keep up the great work,love watching pal 👍

Santa Gloria coffee shop as you walk into the old town on the right hand side just up from the bank on the corner. The coffee in there is very good 👓

I can't agree with your assessment of the Pelicanos breakfast. My wife and I have stayed there twice and their food has been as good as any other similar rated hotel anywhere in Spain or it's islands. A heck of a lot better than cafe/bar breakfasts and Greek hotels. Judging by the videos of cafe/bar breakfasts I would take the Pelicanos every time. The restaurant is clean and the food has always been fresh. The choice has always been amazing and why you chose to get your main hot breakfast before doing your toast I don't understand. Obviously the food will get cold whilst you're away toasting bread. I'm not sure what you expect for the money these hotels charge. No one need go hungry at this hotel and to my mind the quality of the food is equal to that which 90% or more of the customers enjoy at home. I don't know where you usually eat but in my personal opinion your rating of 5.5 out of 10 is unfair, but of course you are entitled to your opinion. 😕

Cooked breakfast zero point. Pancakes doughnuts fruit yogurt 9. But plenty of selection thanks for sharing 👍

I would say a solid 7......food was fine by no means top quality but always good selection and decent enough.

OMG MacMaster. Whilst we know that European breakfast sausages and bacon aren’t the same as good old Blighty’s. That sausage looked worse than a catering (DJ would cringe 🤣). Yeah not a bad selection but Egg Chef’s presentation 🤔 controversial!! Brilliant VLOG as always and a fair score mate. Proper old skool 70’s way of pancakes 👌🏻. Please don’t stick metal into a toaster 🫣 as we’d miss your work.

Try staying at Ambassador playa next time Lee. They do a great breakfast with proper English back bacon. It’s the hotel with the pink balconies.

I think the food at sol pelicanos is great. All inclusive is the best. You can wake up and have a right royal spread 8am is best as by 8.30am everyone comes down. I love lunch too lots of fresh veg and fruit with light lunch or pasta. Dinner is full of choice. I had mushroom soup then pasta or fish then cheese with quince jelly and fruit. It really is fill ya boots time ❤❤❤❤

Just stayed there last week and I thought you were a bit harsh with a 5.5 ..they had 4 different types of sausages and 3 types of fresh orange juice which were all top notch I'd give it a 9 for the choices of different kinds of breakfast you could have

Hello Lee loving your benidorm visits , and I’m a regular, yes breakfast in pelicanos 5 at best , if you get chance go see pablo bloom He does a show at don pancho hotel on Friday night at 8,45 if he is in town,or in uncle peds at 11,15 pm, don pancho beautiful hotel non residents welcome, but his show in peds more lively, thanks, michael

hi lee. thanks for another great review .i must say the fried eggs did not look very appetising.the rest was ok best thing was the toast and tomatoes.i have found that with the rotary toaster people mess around with the settings so sometimes the toast is barely done and on the other its black .enjoy rest of your stay mate.

I thought that breakfast was very good for a hotel mass produced meal and would rate it at 8 out of 10. You cannot compare it along side pub or restaurant meals as they are individually prepared and at a much higher price.

For mass catering it looked not bad a very good selection to choose from for me 7 . I agree though those toasters drive me mad.

Very basic (ie cheap) ingredients for that breakfast. I find the Agua Azul near Old Town does a fantastic breakfast. Thick rashers of back bacon freshly cooked and eggs not murdered. Yes indeed, those toasters are a pain in the arse. Always need 2/3 rotations. If they turn the heat up, it often sets the smoke alarms off.

Ours is included in May but to be honest when you've a stinking hangover doing it's thing that process of grabbing your drinks getting a table getting your food then doing your toast can be an odeal. U can't beat finding a bar and ordering

Stayed half board here a few years back and one of the lads was eating all sort of steaks and fish. He came down with food poisoning on the final day and we had to leave him in Benidorm - he ended up in hospital for a bit. That was our one and only time staying half board - been self catering every time since as it was too much of a school dinner vibe. Seemingly this is one of the better hotel restaurants in Benidorm. Wouldn't like to see the norm ...

I think you should go to butlins Minehead for weekend and try the breakfast , they are much nicer than the food in benidorm, I give that a 5 out of 10 x

Disney's Frozen yogurt cups 😂😂😂 I would have made toasted sandwiches with all those meat choices and cheeses. Pack them for free snacks for the day. I would give their buffet an uneasy 8/10. Great vlog Lee as always 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Was over in Benidorm a couple of weeks back and I would recommend The Winning Post for a breakfast. Brilliant food and incredible value for money 👍🏻

I'd say I'd be able to get by alright with what's on offer there (and I'm a fussy enough eater!) Sausages did look brave and ropey, though. I have an issue with scrambled eggs in Spain. They taste strange for me; think they use olive oil with them. Miss the Spanish coffee big time...I love it so much!!

Perfectly fine plenty of choice looks like they had everything you'd want for breakfast and better than the slice of toast I had this morning

Stayed there for 10 days half board last August first morning had a look at breakfast,didn't bother ate out every day lol

Theres a dial on the side of most toaster machines where you can turn it to get darker toast.

Hi Lee , we have stayed at the pelicanos a few times and have tried the breakfast and like you say it serves a purpose, we though knocked it on the head pretty poor quality , I’d give it 2 out of 10 that’s for the fruit 😆. instead went to the Yorkshire pride where you get a proper breakfast and a good brew , you might have to wait a little but we’ll worth it 👍

My one and only time in Benidorm was there over 30 years ago. They stuck us in the Ocas or 'yob wing' but I can't remember breakfast, don't think we ever made it.

Yes that’s a low score. It looked ok tbh. Music was a great addition. Great to see you back in the ‘Dorm. The owners of Shelley’s Bar told me business is booming since your visit. How about trying Albea? It’s only a short bus ride away…

A very good selection, I thought. My tip with buffet breakfasts is not to get everything at once. Do your toast when you’re ready for it. Same with the coffee.

My favourite as well Lee simple pancakes,lemon & sugar… reminds me of being a child (it was in 80s) 🤣and I was actually born on shrove Tuesday 😂 brother & sister missed out that year 😂 as dad didn’t cook

A lot of 4 to 5 star hotels that we have gone half board in the past cook omelettes fresh for you. You choose the filling and how many eggs you want and they do the rest. The wife usually has this every day with freshly sliced bread and butter with a pot of tea. A lot healthier for you even though you might be eating 35 eggs in a week.

Never wanted to go to Benidorm , always seems a bit Blackpool in the sun to me .But that's my never been there opinion , so its great to see your take on it . That breakfast looked very good for a hotel, I've had a lot worse Mac, hate them toasters but you can turn the heat up on the back of them, love your videos mate.

The breakfast options look good. This reminds me of the buffet breakfast I had with my cousin in Tenerife back in 2014 at cleopatra hotel

Don't forget scarbados life boat fisheries and here in Leeds Robin Hood fisheries simply stunning both brilliant love benidorm stayed there

Loads of choice there . Those toasters are dire. I was in New York and it was a 3 times through toaster. I found the knob to turn it up and it was great after that!

I would have not gone anywhere near that bacon that looked rank, the sausages did not look good either think I would have just had scrambled eggs on toast & a couple of yogurts. I would go with a 4.5. Enjoy your stay Lee & look forward to your next Vlog
