For anyone wondering why the pugs are separated, Martin was suckling on Emilia, which is dangerous and can lead to injuries (specifically of the genitals). They’ll be reunited once they start weaning 😊
I was wondering this very thing (and guessing that was the answer!) One of my kittens used to nurse on the other one, but it was only after their mom had weaned them and been adopted, and his sister was old enough and strong enough by then to tell him to get lost if she wanted to. :)
We have to start seeing brachycephalic animals as being born with a birth defect. No one should encourage the breeding of a trait that makes so many suffer. I hope their poor mom is okay. BUT I am happy these puppies are in your care. You having them gives much more understanding to the bigger issue.
I wish she would straight up tell everyone that the reason it's dangerous to tube feed is because the tube goes to one of two places: the stomach, which is the target (insert 'duh, Andrea!'), or into a lung. A body could drown one of those babies by simply trying to feed it. It's not something I would ever feel comfortable doing. Inserting a catheter into a bladder is much less nerve-racking, imo.
It is a serious undertaking, but there are simple checks to make sure you inserted it in the right place. I learned how from a vet tech when we found our kittens. It saved their life, and my sanity, but I was the only person who was trained so I was the only person who fed them from that point (day 7) on.
@@Andrea.S.Alvey12yes it looks very scary for this little puppy and she should have mentioned it immediately with big letters on screen. I never heard of it. Is that specific to these particular puppies?
Tootsie was so chubby in the beginning. She must have burned all the calories from the screaming, pant climbing and fence jumping. Tootsie and Peanut are so beautiful together. I love your new babies, Puppy lady 💟 Also hopefully we get to know Harvey’s DNA results
Thanks to you I was able to save a baby kitten, she's been with me for a month now, she's big and healthy and beautiful! Her name is Theia, I can't thank you enough
I'd love to see more videos like this, I didn't watch only for the instructions but for the cats, the stories and if you ever want to tell a story, even if you think it's something we have already heard I would love to watch videos like that. Thank you for the amazing work you do for all little baby animals and all you have done for the rescue community ❤
Love what you said about tube feeding being like bomb defusing. It's delicate, important and needs lots of skill and focus. I've never tube fed a tiny one in my life but I understand the importance of needing the skill set in order to do something so drastic for such a vulnerable little life. I wish the puppies the best and the kittens, too! I knew a sweet, black kitty who was very talkative. Tootsie Roll reminded me of her.
Welcome back, your new fur babies are more important than us so you spent your time wisely. My two newly adopted kittens, Baboo and Baloo, definitely agree. ❤
I am so glad you do not just foster kittens and cats and you will foster any animal that needs you and/or the vet .you are my favorite RU-vidr and cats are my favorite animal,❤
I noticed that Martin and Amelia are separated now. I recall you mentioning suckling on the sibling. They have both grown so much. ❤ And Tootsie Roll and Circus Peanut will soon be ready for their forever family. 🥰
All of the little ones are so darling. 😍 I'd be the person to periodically visit the animals. The thought of losing one would be too much for me. Thanks for taking such good care of them.
Tootsie Roll and Circus Peanut were definitely telling Hannah that they were ready to eat 😆. They will even climb up on the pant legs to get to the yummy foods. Poor puppy babies 😢. At least they are with you Hannah to take good care of them until they are ready to be adopted 😁
I first started watching Kitten Lady when I was fostering my first ever cats-- two kittens who are now 4 years old-- and her videos taught me so much about how to take care of them! And now I'm watching this video with their new baby sister, with her lying on top of me almost exactly like Circus Peanut and Tootsie Roll are on Andrew at 12:12! She was really interested in the babies and all their sounds :)
I don't think I've ever seen a Kitten Lady video that I didn’t learn something surprising, or didn't laugh and cry a little at the same time. I don’t foster any animals but because of KL I do give to the Humane Society. Thank you for your wonderful videos. ❤🐱
I’ve watched you for so many years and while I’m still not able to foster because I adopted two girls, I have now been volunteering at my local shelter for over 6 months. You have opened my heart so so much.
3yrs ago (like so many during covid) my wife wanted to get a dog. She chose a pug as we were first time dog owners and pugs were meant to be gentler. Didn't take long for us to adopt one and your videos remind me of our first visit to see our little fella. He was so small and fragile and could fit in one hand. Anyway, as someone who has historically been a cat person, the little fella has definitely grown on me. Sure he causes a bit of trouble from time to time but he gives so much love unconditionally. Good on you for taking them in to give them a chance for a happy life. I hope these two little pugs can bring as much joy and love to a lucky family out there as our little fella has brought to ours. And I hope they end up in a good forever home too.
The timing of this is just purrfect. So happy I get to spend meal time with these babies! 💕 My latest foster nuggets just found their forever home this past weekend, and the house feels so empty now.
I’m one of the few who knows how to tube feed fosters at our shelter. It’s not something I like having to do but like you stated it’s a great skill to have.
The little Puppies T.T. It's always so heartbreaking seeing the pain of these torturebreed's whether cat or dog. I will never understand how people can support this, just because it's "cute" xx.
You truly are such a blessing and empath! I can't stop lovin ya girl 💙💙I got your cativity book for my daughter and I. Can't tell you how much it opened my eyes and is teaching her. My old big boy is starting to play finally, I feel so bad I always thought he was ALOOF but he wanted more interactive play with me!! I always thought he didn't like anything but a laser pointer but man the love he is showing me now makes me feel he felt depressed. I love my Tao, and my daughter has grown so much closer to her kitten Mew in the past year. Thank you!! Stay Strong, realistic, and always take time for yourself! 💚💚💚
I'm a pediatrician, so I've tube fed (or directed the tube feeding of) my share of human babies! I love cats, but I really don't want to get one, because I know I would be emotionally devastated when my pet passed away. I keep watching your videos and thinking that taking care of foster kittens, especially foster kittens with medical needs, might be the perfect option for me. I live in a rural community, so I don't know that there is much call for this type of care out here, just because of our numbers.
If you haven't already, I'd like to encourage you to contact your local shelter or rescue to talk to them and hopefully sign up as a foster - you'd be surprised at the demand for support wherever you live, and your medical background would be like finding a unicorn for the foster coordinator just for your care experience. 😊 Even in the middle of nowhere, there are too many homeless companion animals, and the challenges of shelters and rescues serving them are even greater than other, more populated areas. I've fostered neonatal kittens and medical recovery cases for dogs, and it's so satisfying to help them grow/heal, and thrive ... My album of foster animal pics on my phone camera is full of cuteness that fully makes up for the challenges of helping them when they most needed it. ❤
They are Adorable & hope they are Adopted together. Thank God for the Rescuing of these precious Baby's & your skill set to help them survive & given their first love from Andrew & you. Love your Video's, I have my last Kitty who is all black w alittle white hairs on his chest, My Gizziebear who will be 12 on Dec 16th, he is the last of our 8 Kitty's in 39 yrs at our Home in Ohio, my Husband of 45 yrs. Congrats on your Marriage to Andrew, your a Beautiful couple. Love ya's 🐈⬛🐾😺💞💞
Oh those puggos are melting my heart! Such beautiful pups! I have three pugs back at home myself and, despite the troubles that pugs usually go through, it doesn't stop them from being full of energy and being big ol' cuddly loaves of bread!
The beginning of the video tells me you're far tougher than me. Any time I had kittens climbing me it HURT. The puppies break my heart.....but the kneading and suckling was adorable.
One of my dad's beagles just had pups, and even the one born with a missing leg that was nearly rejected by her mother has had a better start in life than Amelia and Martin. If the physiology of a breed is so extreme that even its "normal" or "ideal" state means the young can't safely nurse on their own, something is deeply, deeply wrong, and it isn't the animals at fault.
It's interesting that you let the puppies suckle while you're tube feeding, because that's something that is done with human babies in the NICU as well, when they can't feed orally - they're encouraged to do 'non-nutrtive sucking' because it's soothing & developmentally beneficial. Great to see the knowledge & intuition you bring to caring for these little guys.
Your videos have literally saved my baby Bagheera’s life. I found him, 1 day old in my back yard crying. His cries led me to him. Unfortunately I didn’t find his siblings until it was too late :( Four weeks later, he’s REFUSING any wet food 😒. He HATES the meat Slurry, he whines and cries when I try to give it to him. He didn’t eat for almost a whole day so I relented and went back to plain old formula in the baba, and that’s the only food he’ll accept! I don’t know what to do! 😓
@@jjbee11 thank you for the encouragement :) I actually watched them all and I’ve tried everything 😒 I’ll try again this Thursday when he turns 5 weeks old ♥️
My cats love when I watch your videos with kittens or even puppies! Both of them will perk their ears up and watch the video while they're on screen, it's precious
I started tearing up at the end. You are helping while loving tiny lives. I platonically love you. You are like a big loving sister. Thank you for loving animals. God bless you and Happy New Years!
Oh my goodness...those puppies!!!! I was stationed overseas and there was a French Bulldog breeder near the French border...so many of the people there wanted to come back to the states with a French Bulldog...it just broke my heart knowing the problems they would face during their life. So unfair for those sweet puppies. I'm glad you're there to save them. I retire next year and would love to give a home to babies like Amelia and Martin.
