For me an Avengers movie failing to crack a billion at the box office will be a red alert situation. I've always thought the "Marvel's dead" thing was a little overblown but that would be a real game changer. Avengers is the flagship title and still has name value.

If Stahelski wanted to do it, I think he'd be a decent choice. I do see him as more of a solo character film director though. Something like Blade or Ghost Rider, maybe even Hulk. I'd like to see what Gareth Edwards could do if here were interested. He's a proven ensemble director with Rogue One, and that was with a bunch of characters we'd never met before. Imagine what he could do with an established character cast.

Maybe not for an avengers movie, but I really would like to see Guy Ritchie do something like a guardians of the Galaxy. That being said though, King Arthur was a pretty phenomenal epic style movie with fun character development.

I like the idea of having a director direct Avengers 5 who has never done an MCU movie. I can imagine directors such as JJ Abrams, Patty Jenkins, Gareth Edwards, or even the Daniels directing it. As much as I would love to see Christopher Nolan direct an MCU film, I don't think it'll happen since he has made it clear he's done with superhero films.
