Gus always had an image to maintain. He always conducted himself as a professional and that's why it was so hard to pick him out. Even when he got his head blown off halfway, he still fixed his tie.
For such a young guy he lived an amazing life in those 2 years. Methead, Amazing cook, Killer, dealing with cartel killers and bosses, then unfortunately a snitch, slave, then freedom just getting out alive was amazing. Finally anonymous in Alaska! Very crazy 2 years!
@@markfark188 Well, relatively speaking, it was still better than what he had to endure at the end. Yes, Jane died but Jesse got Andrea and Brock after. And he was living a pretty lavish life during the middle of the series.
I love how Gus says nothing to the Don when he's dying. He doesn't have to. Doesn't even look that angry. Just like "you're getting put down now. You know exactly why."
and thats the best part, no anger, no sadness, just a "I am going to watch you die, and theres not a damn thing you can do to even stop me." I also want to mention he did that to show he SURVIVED the poison , so not only does he die, he dies knowing Gus SURVIVED it afterwards
Gus is definitely the most wicked, calculating, refined, driven, to a point of caricature - and - loved vilain in the BB/BCS Universe ! He was written to the extreme and the exquisite delivery of G. Esposito where every point was made to show how meticulous he was for everything he did, how he did it and how it turned out.. even in his ultimate demise, they had to show a tie sharpening move while he was basically cut in half ! Cudos on the writing, acting, editing of this fantastic character !
Yes Giancarlo Esposito can emulate the psychopath reptile look in his eyes. That is something for someone who is actually not a psychopath. Top actor skill.
@Caleb P wasn't he gonna start that Czech republic thing with Lydia b4 he died also? Walt took that over obviously but yeah the dude might of actually been smarter than Walt overall just not in chemistry obviously lol.
Gus wasn't as smart as Walt, but he was much better as a criminal - more proffesional and calculating. But Walt is more intelligent - with all the insane shit he's done and his chemistry knowledge - he's basicaly a genius.
@@Savebabygorilla But Walt's empire was not as stable as Gustavo's. Also Walt teamed up with powerful people (Lydia for example) to start his empire, while Gus made it on his own and was a head of the whole thing unlike Walt.
@@PolishGod1234 Gus teamed up with Don eladio and string people too lol also Walt was still 100% the head Lydia was just the distributor to Europe. Obviously Walts situation was messier than Gus’s but again he built it in less than a year and a half
I like how Gus just sits there motionless lowering his heart rate and counting out exactly how many seconds he's got before he absolutely must vomit the poison out. So calculating.
@@bobsonny definitely not, the voice is different, and that 'salud' by everybody is so obviously not the original lmao. plus you can see from the description it's some school project
Yeah but Gus turned Walt into a villain. Like after Walt killed those two people for Jesse Gus done turned Walt into a slave and threatened him constantly. Walt I think would be fine if Gus didn’t go so radical.
His entire storyline was based on revenge for Don Eladio and Hector killing his partner. He didn’t risk death, he accepted death, if required to get his revenge.
@@seanwilliams480 right?! All these people saying he did this because he's ruthless. Well, he is, but here he was just taking revenge. He just had to kill Eladio
Gus's unhurried meticulousness in all of his movements, even while his enemies are buying the farm all around him, is the perfect little bit of texture for this scene.
The way Gus was frozen still at 0:24 is great attention to detail. The following scenes after the toast, Gus was absolutely statue still until he left for the bathroom. Gus was slowing down his heart rate and metabolism whilst everyone around him was bouncing around burning energy laughing and celebrating. Such genius!
Just love how everybody's falling but Jesse only comes into action when Mike starts strangling Gaff at 2:32. Maybe he had just realized the meaning of "Either we're all going home, or none of us are".
@@tritonwe8937 No, he says this is Breaking Bad... in this episode, when Jesse expresses his anger that the cartel is going to keep him there in Mexico. He assures him by saying this line that he will not be left high and dry here.
When I first saw that bottle I remember thinking to myself ‘that is poison in a bottle’ but when Gus drank it himself I thought ‘I guess not’. As soon as I saw him throw up in the bathroom my hand immediately went to my mouth and I yelled “HOLY FUCK”. Such a badass move.
@@ajsotoo7350 it is the one and only time I have ever seen a character willingly drink something even though they knew it was poisonous (with the exception of Olena on Game of Thrones). That is why it threw me off so much and that is why I was convinced that it was not poison after Gus drank it himself. He had me completely fooled. That is what made it so badass. His meticulous nature made him look even more badass. Folding his jacket and making sure the bathroom was neat after puking. The sheer bravery on Gus’ part was crazy. He was smart to leave the water running too. That was so the cartel guy could not hear him puking. He clearly thought everything out before doing so. The way he dangled the necklace in front of Hector afterwards was just nuts. Pure revenge and pure Genius.
The parallels between Gus and Walt are pretty amazing. Don Eladio clearly underestimated Gus’ ruthlessness and formidability, which can be said the same for Mike, Hank or basically anyone else that encountered Walter White.
Gus is the perfect man to exact revenge against the cartel on his own terms, and he does it without breaking a sweat, a true general who plans his strategy before acting on it. You can tell, he’ll be the true Godfather and be very successful at his enterprise.
I love how Gus is so deliberate in his actions in the bathroom - carefully folding his jacket, laying a folded towel in front of the toilet, washing up afterward - that is the epitome of ice cold.
It's not just manners. If his jacket was messed up or had vomit on it, or if the guard checked the bathroom afterwards and saw any vomit on the floor, it could've raised suspicions.
Also he was keeping calm. If he elevated his heartbeat, the poison would have gone through his system faster. That's why he's sitting still before going - to slow down the poison and give himself time, especially since he drank it first. He was calm and collected, trying not to let the poison go faster.
Yeah, come to think of it, even though he suffered a ton, he’s still only in his 20s when the series ends and has a ton of cash. Hopefully, he can now chill and fly around in Alaska for the rest of his days.
BEST SCENE IN THE ENTIRE SERIES. They took a page out of the Hitchcock book: terror and murder in bright daylight. Nice touch with the cigar dropping first.

- That's your bathroom there? - That's the bathroom. Don't work. The toilet's backed up. - Don't work? - No, don't work. - I can wait another week. - Come back then, we'll have it fixed for you. It's the reference to the altered song in the background if someone didn't get it ;)
Better than the original, Sr. Korhan Obadas. Excellent use of (better) music and a full serving of revenge served cold. Espero qué usted fue apreciado por la obra maestra que esta fue.
For what it's worth: I have seen the original scene about 6 times and it took me until 2:09 to notice that the sound effects sounded like they were recorded right next to the mic instead of being a bit in the distance. pretty well done either way :)
Just watched scarface for the fist time last night, and yet didn't recognize this clip's actor as Manny, which actually made me feel better: I'm not the only one who has gained heft & girth since 1983!
Between meeting Gus's death stare, and falling dead into the pool, Don Eladio had maybe just enough time to realise he shouldn't have had Hector kill Max, Gus's business and life partner, all those years ago.
It makes me think he may have even tried to give him a slightly lesser dose. Just so he’d have the time to see him die after vomiting it out in the bathroom.
I love how none of the comments seem to realize this is a class project. This is pretty good work! I had to make something similar in a college course, we redubbed a Spongebob scene though
the likeliness of all of the goons and bodyguards joining on the toast was very low let alone having enough to go around for everyone. As calculated as this move was, it could have just as easily failed.
