Breaking down a Stillwater indicator set up

Fishing still water can be incredibly fun and productive. Here I break down my still water set up while fishing at Pyramid lake.
This set up can be done on a single hand or a double hand rod with great success. Stay tuned for some still water stripping techniques in the future.

My setups for pyramid Indicator: 11”6 redington dually with 8/9rise reel,7wt switch chucker line. Striping: tfo pro 2 7wt 10”0 with redington 7/8 behemoth reel .25 ft sink tip rio line Backup for indo/fishing from ladder Orvis Clearwater 8wt reel/combo 8wt sa anandro line. Prefer to strip flies,looking at a bobber all day is boring 🎣

my strip set up is a 10' 7wt helios HD with a lamson guru HD and titan long line I add a poly leader if I need to sink.

A little confused about your set up. You’re attaching a 9’ 2x tapered leader to straight 2x ljne (correct ? ) . Isn’t the butt section of a tapered line a lot thicker than the 2x and that’s ok ? Could you break down each section of the leader rig after the tippet ring? Thanks

I did also make an updated set up where I simplify it further. With this style turn over isn’t nearly as important as depth. But I may make an updated set up explaining it.

How would I cast this set up on a single handed rod. Having trouble with the flies staying in the water on my roll casts

Changing line can be very helpful. SA makes an indicator line that helps a ton with roll casting. You can also false cast this rig with a modified cast. I may need to do a video on casting nymph rigs.

Good info and explanation. How long do you have your dropper tag? Do you have to redo the entire bottom section if tag gets too short? I agree with you about straight flouro leader

Get a switch rod with a chucker line,you can cast a mile out with ease

@@mainlyfishing4599 it is a switch rod with a chuker line ha ha. I just changed it out to the new reno fly shop line I am very happy with it.
