Been watching NFL football for decades and never felt more in touch with what I'm watching on TV than I am now after watching an entire season of your film breakdown and concise analysis of what's happening on the field. This latest study might be your most informative and enjoyable yet. Another reasone for me to not be able to wait for next season to get under way.

Thank you. Very kind of you to say. I appreciate it. I think it will take me a week to produce a follow up, I am also working on Draft video.

Interesting stuff. Goff is underrated and quick on the draw...Crisp play and physical players. Too bad about the drops and the fumble in the Niners game. Next year should be a ride!

@joshlewis575 Careful Josh. Don't bet your mortgage money. That's why they play the games. I agree that if the new secondary meshes and plays as advertised, the Lion's have as good of a chance as anyone else to a SB win. But, they could have injuries to key players, maybe the secondary doesn't mesh, rookies play like rookies, Davis gets hurt, Robertson's too small. You never know, that's why they have to play the games.

Everyone talks about Goff's slow feet, but ignores his quick mind. When they gave out Wonderlic intelligence tests to draft prospects, an adequate QB score was in the 20s. Goff supposedly got a 36.

I think Detroit's commitment to the run is Dan Campbell. Remember in 21 when Campbell took over play calling Detroit immediately rushed for well over 200 yards. This is why I wasn't as concerned about losing BJ because Dan Campbell is an offensive guy too & he knows what he's doing.
@kennytran5020
@kennytran5020 4 месяца назад
I agree people call Dan a “CEO” coach whatever that means, which is derogatory towards what Dan has done unless you compare him to like Jeff Bezos because he’s a deep and critical thinker. He has that alpha mindset in a violent game but has that critical thinking to stay alive, he built this team and led this team to where it is now and has played this game before. And if I’m wrong, I’m pretty sure Dan Patricia brought in Ben Johnson.
@pjpredhomme7699
@pjpredhomme7699 3 месяца назад
The only concern i had about losing BJ was that he was going to take Hank Fraley with him - that I was concerned about - glad we don't need to worry about it . I think it was a wise choice - I think BJ still needs more experience - he is doing well but there are still plenty of areas that he needs to improve - especially halftime adjustments.
@joshlewis575

This is definitely Dan Campbells offense at heart. Ever since lynn was canned they've been run heavy play action pass kinda team.
@mrbamfo5000
@mrbamfo5000 Месяц назад
Yep, once Dan took over play calling, the offense flipped. That's when Goff went from looking pedestrian to the Goff we see today. And it wasn't gradual, it was like a switch was flipped. If I remember Dan didn't decide on giving up play calling duty until shortly before the season of BJs first year as OC.

Dude!! I have never thought of scheming up plays with the running back to act like its your "duel threat " QB running the option ny him running on the same side he gets the ball!! Genius!! BTW I love watching your film breakdowns of the Lions.dont stop please!!

Coach, can you imagine the absolute shock and unbridled joy that the Lion's fanbase experienced upon learning that BJ was not going away to run his first NFL team? OMG! As you've noted, Ben Johnson is a very special talent who has selflessly chosen to share his expertise with the entire league ONE MORE TIME. So as a fan of the game, and the team, I realize how damned lucky I am to witness this. And believe me, I will savor each game- over n over n over again. I've been a Lions fan about 60 years now, and this team and its unique talents n players reminds me of a few teams of long ago, but I don't remember any of them being as generous and good at doing what DC calls "the dirty work" of blocking for their teammates ALL THE TIME, AND EVERY TIME. BTW, you've made it obvious to every viewer that you truly appreciate the game, and your efforts and analysis honor this game, and IMO, the content you consistently release is admirable and enjoyable- to say the least.

Thanks so much for this video. I love the idea of a lions playlist and love the length of this video. I really appreciate your "teacher" approach. I've learned so much about the modern game of football due to your content. Not just your Lions content, but also your Ravens coverage as well. Thanks for your hard work! I hope you realize your dream and can do this full-time 😊. One pride! Let's go Lions!

@@all_22_films Fans prefer simple either/or explanations in everything. I'll use other examples to illustrate how we conflate titles with what a person does. First, the Eagles. Sirianni is like Bowles. He sends his team onto the field & says "may the best roster win." No trick plays, no straying from this core concept. I noticed this in '22 when they almost lost to _those_ Cardinals because Murray was mounting a comeback & he changed nothing & almost allowed it to happen. Now what did he do last season while everyone else could see both the OC & DC failing? Nothing. Dan Campbell fired his d-line coach for failing to communicate properly. Sirianni watched his entire team burn & just kept watching it. People want the title "HC" to mean the same thing in all cases though. Another example would be how whenever Matt Eberflus is busy elsewhere & Luke Getsy gets to have more control over the play-calling, the Bears' offense improves several-fold. So what happens in cases like this where the HC thinks he's better than his play-callers or micro-manages? See, we Don't Know What % On What Team is Andy Reid or his OC. People are uncomfortable not knowing so they try to say "it _IS 100% this or that"_ to cover for this discomfort. "Jordan Love proves sitting on the bench learning works." Well, he proceeded this year _after_ doing that about the same as C.J. Stroud did *without* that advantage. But most people feel the need for One Thing to stand clearly as what is *known to be* right. So when something isn't clearly so, they pretend that it is.

Great videos! You have mentioned needing content ideas, here are some in no particular order: Lions FA needs Lions draft needs Lions run game Lions pass game Lions 3rd down Lions red zone Lions specials Lions by personnel Lions blitz packages Lions d line stunts Why the Lions seem to have at least one big stinker under Dan campbell but then rally (21: Bengals, 22: Patriots, 23: Ravens) Post FA and Draft where those players will help the Lions I love your work, and football knowledge please keep it up!

So now I’m into the minutiae of movement since watching your stuff. Someone in Comments mentioned you'd asked once for topic? I'm unsure what archive film is avail and if you like short vids... It would be great to see your analysis of the outcomes from any of these, using both Ravens & Lions: 1) successful 'chips' and such (abrupt contact), and how these have impacted timed plays. 2) earliest significant in-play changes by defense that occurred in 1st & 2nd downs 3) the crazy amount of data that must be taken in, processed, risk-managed, & executed by the QB & Center in fractions of seconds Thanks

@daveconleyportfolio5192

In baseball, the toughest pitch for a batter is 2 balls, 2 strikes. You have to be aggressive and ready to swing, but the pitcher doesn't have to throw a strike. That's the Lions on 3rd down, because just making a few yards sets them up to go for it on 4th and short.

i think a big part of the story, too, is that he's not just playing against this week's defense. each week he's playing against all the defenses he's going to play against for the rest of the season. Sometimes a play will show up against one team, that he plans to use the identical formation against another team one or two weeks down the road, but the second time pass instead of run, or go a different way. That's playing the meta-game. Just brilliant stuff.

Another great breakdown coach. Would you say Ben Johnson's unique or his play concepts, Or both? lol 😆 I mean if he's using math skills to create his concepts. And if so, is that a new technique or do you think earlier OC's have tried something comparable to B.J.? And would you say B.J. concepts are rather stealthy or just unique? Anyways thanks again for your outstanding points of view. I have a better understanding every time I watch your content. Take care coach, best wishes to you and yours.🏆💪🏼. 👑 #LETS_GO_LIONS!💙🦁🏈
