Some of the biggest hitters in golf are also some of the biggest jumpers. Dr. Greg Rose shares why vertical jump is a good indicator of potential power in golf.
That explains a lot. I'm 5'9" and could almost dunk a basketball. I could hit it a long way in my younger years. I'm regaining some of that athletic ability now. Another 20 pounds or so and I'll be back in the saddle again. Look out Champions Tour...in a few years.
I''m 62 years old, 5'8" tall, just tested my broad jump, 81", almost dead on the 120% you mentioned. My max ball speed is right around 165, so I guess I'm maxed out technique wise and would have to get stronger to hit it further.
Equal and opposite … but you are saying the power translates up the body? So is the ground pushing up on your body greater than you push in? Also the translation of vertical to horizontal seems off?
Great video, you guys never dissapoint. I have a 6 year old who is starting to play, he tries to swing so hard and pushes off the ground so much his front foot is moving all over the place. His teacher is trying to keep it still so he hits it better but should it be left alone and just let it stabalise by itself as he gets older.
Ok gonna lob a spanner! As an athlete in my youth i was an average jumper/sprinter but good thrower,at 17 yo DT our greatest ever athlete was a world class sprinter/jumper but a poor thrower. Are all your top QBs good jumpers eg Brady, Ratz etc
Obviously. I saw Craig Stadler hit a golf ball harder than anyone I've ever seen at the 1998 PGA Champion at Sahalee C.C. and I would estimate his vertical jump at negative 5 inches.
